Meet Charlie, our new family member! My brother's work was having a pet adoption day on Saturday, he saw this little guy and had to have him! He was a little hyper the past few days, wasn't eating much but now seems to be settling in.

How was everyone's pets last night? This was the first Fourth Of July we've had a pet and were nervous how Charlie would react. Didn't bark but kept running around wondering what the noises were. Took him outside to go to the bathroom and took forever to bring him inside because the fireworks were intense. Finally calmed down when he gave him treats and turned on the TV super loud.

@Linds911 Canada Day was July 1st and people have been setting off fireworks in my area starting a few days before and every night since. It is ridiculous. Thankfully Winston could care less, but lots of dogs ... and other animals ... have issues as a result.

If your dog is nervous of them, take them out before the fireworks because that is when many take off. So easy for them to be hit by cars, injured, run off and get lost. Turning up the tv and closing curtains can works. Maybe get them in a basement where they hear less. Find their safe space and let them hang there. Thunder shirts also may work.

My pup could care less now I guess because he's older but boy did I ever go through many awful firecracker/thunderstorms especially when I had two. (RIP my little furbaby) Nothing worked, I even bought Thundershirts. It got to the point when they saw me take out the Thundershirts they knew something was wrong and started getting anxious. Both of them were scared out of their minds. I had to hold on to both of them otherwise they'd take off running around looking for I don't know what, panting terribly.

I googled so many remedies, then came across someone who used music. I just so happen to have an il Divo CD in my cd holder on my laptop and I turned it on loud when I heard the first firecracker in the distance or thunder coming. It's unbelievable the difference it made. It actually made them fall asleep and the noise didn't bother them at all. Very stressful though.
