@havadrpepper Adorable. My good friend has two Havanese's both girls. One is 5 yrs old, and she just got another pup in February. She's around 8 months old now.

This is my 3rd Havanese. Got my first one in June of 2000 (Pepper). In March of 2002, I got his half-sister (Paige). Pepper and Paige had the same mom. Peyton's 3rd great-grandpa was Paige's dad and I do see a lot of the same personality in Peyton that Paige had. I got all 3 from the same breeder. I do love this breed!

Are they considered hypo allergenic?

@Kashathediva I'm pretty sure they are hypo. My friend brings her two over for play time with my two, and they don't shed. They have the cutest faces.

That was before she got groomed. Here's a more recent pic. They are so cute, of course mine are too.

She's so cute! Their lil personalities really come to life during this stage!

You could say that. They have hair, not dander and don't shed. Dander is usually what most people are allergic to.

I am allergic to most breeds of dogs... those that shed dander. But I have no problems with the Havanese. When I first decided to get a dog back in late 1999, I started looking at small dogs since I am not fond of big dogs since I'm rather small myself. I started looking at pictures on the AKC website in the Toy Group. I went alphabetically and when I got to Havanese, I quit looking! I then spent a few months on an E-group (remember those... pre yahoo group days) for the breed. That's how I met my breeder. However, I drove to Cincinnati to a dog show to see some Havanese in person before committing to a puppy. I was amazed. One of my breeder friends let me hold her female show dog... YoYo stayed on my lap for 2 hours. And, I had no reaction at all. The next week I went to a dog show in Toledo and met up with a college friend there as well. When we went to the Havanese breed ring, my breeder walked up to me and asked if I had found a puppy yet because she had a male available. She sent me pictures that night and 2 days later he was at home with me.

I will never have any other breed. Although I am guessing Peyton will be my last because of my age and the life span of the breed. When I got Pepper, the average life span was 15 years. He was 15.5 and Paige was 1 month shy of 14 when I had them put down. Their mom was 18 when she passed away.

I do like the Havanese breed a lot.
I also understand very well the life span issues.
Kasha is over 16 now.
I have my grandpoodle Lester (5 yrs) at least 50% of the time.
Something to think about.

Yes it is something to think about. I also have no children nor do I have brothers or sisters. So if anything ever happens to me, I have to consider what would happen to the dog.

I see too many dogs in shelters because their owners can no longer take care of them. I don't want that to happen to any dog of mine in the future. As it is if Peyton lives as long as Pepper, I'll be not to far from 80 years old myself! Hope that I will be a young 80 though

I actually picked up my friend tonight to go to dinner at another friends house. Her two girls went banana's when they saw me. One ran away and came back with a toy. Their personalities are a lot like my two shih tzu's.
