This is such a neat story! I saw this on GMA but they didn't mention that this happened in Toronto and the goalie was a Canadian. To me, it makes it even more interesting. I loved that the fans gave him an ovation at the end even though he was helping their competitor.    

Zamboni driver, 42, stars as emergency goalie for Hurricanes

Ayres, a Zamboni driver and arena maintenance worker for the Maple Leafs' AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, has been the regular practice goaltender for the Marlies and has appeared at Maple Leafs practices and skills sessions this season. As the emergency goalie, he was available to either team, if needed.

ETA: I started looking into emergency goalies because it's not something you see often. Very cool stories. I didn't know every team has one and they are not NHLer's.
