Life & Style exclusive: The Bachelorette's Ashley has no plans to convert to Judaism
Love and marriage mean having to compromise -- but that's not the case when it comes to religion for Bachelorette star Ashley Hebert! In an interview with Life & Style, Ashley's fiancé, JP Rosenbaum, gushed that while she is very curious about his religion after having spent the Rosh Hashana holiday in Roslyn, N.Y., with his family and friends, converting to Judaism probably isn't in Ashley's future.
"We've never talked about her converting," JP told Life & Style at the Riazul Tequila 3rd-anniversary party on Oct. 12 at Cellar Bar at the Bryant Park Hotel. "My history and our family traditions are very important to me, but I want her to be her. I love her for who she is. If she wants to convert, great, but it doesn't matter to me."
And no matter what, the couple are in it for the long haul. JP avoided the girls trying to get his attention that night. Instead, he spent the evening with Bachelor Pad star Graham Bunn. "I'm living with a girl for the first time ever. I'm all grown up at 34 -- who would have thought?" laughs JP. "I'm happier now than I've ever been. She and I? We're going to last."

Bachelorette Ashley Hebert: "My Wedding Dress Won't Be White!"
http://www.usmagazine.com/stylebeauty/news/bachelorette-ashley-hebert-my-wedding-dress-wont-be-white-20112710
She didn't get engaged in a traditional way, so it comes as no surprise that Bachelorette star Ashley Hebert plans to put a unique twist on her wedding day look.
"My dress will not be white!" she told Us Weekly at Shape magazine's anniversary party in New York City on Wednesday night.

The stylish dental student, 27, may have a wedding day look in mind, but she and fiance JP Rosenbaum, 34, are still undecided about when to walk down the aisle.

"We've been having trouble even answering [the question] 'When are you getting married?'" Rosenbaum revealed at the event.
Earlier this month he told Us that watching another reality star tie the knot influenced his bride-to-be.

"She watched Kim Kardashian's wedding, so that got her mind thinking, but we are going to wait until she's done with school," he said. "If it's earlier, great. If it's not until towards the end of the year, great. If it's in 2013, great. We've thrown around a few ideas, but we're all over the place."

Isles fans, meet J.P. Rosenbaum, winner of “The Bachelorette,”
Long Island native and life-long Islanders fan. He recently spoke with NewYorkIslanders.com about his love for Long Island’s team. He’s also bringing his friends, family and soon-to-be bride, Ashley, to the Islanders-Capitals game on Saturday, Nov. 5, and we’re giving you a chance to get on the ice with him! Learn how you can win at the bottom of the interview.
NYI: Are you ready for the game against the Capitals?
JP: I am so excited to be there at the Coliseum on Saturday. I am a die-hard fan. It’s a special day for me, that’s for sure.
NYI: How often do you get the chance to see your Isles play live?
JP: It’s tough. I’ve been living in Manhattan for 12 years. I used to go to all the games at the Garden when they played the Rangers. Life kind of takes over a bit though, so for me to get out to a game, it’s not as frequent as I would like. But I definitely go every year.
NYI: So then you and Ashley must be really looking forward to coming back to the Coliseum.
JP: We can’t wait. I can’t wait. She went to the University of Maine, where they have a big hockey program. She likes the sport, but she’s going to learn to love the Islanders.
NYI: How long have you been following the Islanders?
JP: I would say, probably since I was about five. I’ve been going to games since I was that young. The glory years, where we won the four Cups, I was really small. I was born in ’77, so I really don’t remember it too well. But growing up in the early 90’s, those are really the years I remember well.
NYI: How did you become an Islanders fan?
JP: My parents had some friends with season tickets when I was little and they went to all those playoff games where they won the Cups, so it was a big part of their life back then. I’m sure that’s how I got into it.
NYI: What is your favorite moment in Islanders history?
JP: Probably the Shawn Bates penalty shot in 2002 against Toronto in the playoffs. I was at that game and the place was just exploding. I had never heard the Coliseum that loud before. That was definitely my most memorable moment, for sure.
NYI: One of the greatest moments in our history.
JP: That was the first time we had made the playoffs since ’94 and a buddy of mine and myself, we slept outside of the Coliseum for tickets. I guess they went on sale Saturday at noon and we got there Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock. I think we were the third and fourth people on line. We slept out there and got our tickets for that series.
NYI: So who would be your favorite Islander of all time? Shawn Bates?
JP: That’s tough to say. I’ve been through a lot of transitional periods with the Islanders. Turgeon from the early ‘90s was the guy that I remember the most. I don’t know if he’s my favorite, but that was the guy during my childhood that I remember the most.
NYI: Who is your favorite player on the current roster?
JP: I think this team is kind of forming an identity, so I don’t necessarily have a favorite player. I think there is a ton of talent out there. Obviously Tavares, Okposo, Bailey, Hamonic, all of them. I think there’s a lot of young talent and I’m curious to see how they are going to develop in the next couple years. I wouldn’t say I have a favorite. I’m pulling for Al Montoya because he’s a (University of) Michigan guy and we’ve got to stick together. But then again, I also want Ricky (DiPietro) to come back and be the goalie that everyone knows he can be. I don’t really have a favorite, I’m a fan of the whole team.
NYI: You have almost 60,000 followers on Twitter @JP_Rosenbaum. Ashley has over 60,000 @ashhebert. Do you follow the team or the players?
JP: I don’t follow the players actually, but I follow the team @NYIslanders. Whenever I can’t be at my TV for a game, I’m looking at scores with that thing. We are active on Twitter. I never was before the show, but it comes with the territory.
NYI: Switching gears, which Islander do you think would make the best contestant on the Bachelorette?
JP: (Laughs) Firstly, I don’t even know who is single. They’ve got to be single or they are automatically eliminated. Maybe chicks would dig that moustache on (Trevor) Gillies, but I don’t really know.
NYI: As someone born and raised on Long Island, what do you think makes the Islanders so important to this island?
JP: Definitely the history behind the team. They have such a strong fan base. Everybody saw it in the early ‘80s and there is so much love and support for this team. The fans are there and the team’s an important part of Long Island. I can’t imagine my childhood without it and I think that’s important. The community is behind this team.
During his visit on Nov. 5, J.P. will take the ice to show contestants how to play the Mohegan Sun Time to Shine – a second intermission fan-shootout game. One lucky fan will have the opportunity to join J.P. on the ice. Fans wishing to participate must submit a tweet to @NYIslanders with the hashtag #IslesJP explaining why they want to step on the ice with J.P. The winner will be announced prior to faceoff at the Coliseum and will also win exclusive Islanders memorabilia signed by J.P.
Remember to use the hashtag to enter or we won’t be able to find you!

Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum’s Growing Pains
They became engaged after a romantic proposal on The Bachelorette finale in Fiji, but real life hasn’t exactly been as picture-perfect as a tropical vacation for Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum. “We have our pet peeves, like she’s always full of energy, and not at the most opportune times,” J.P. told In Touch of his bubbly bride-to-be at Riazul Tequila’s third anniversary at the Cellar Bar at the Bryant Park Hotel in New York. “I’ll be tired after work, and she’s full of energy!” But the construction manager admits that overall, living with Ashley in their Big Apple apartment is A-OK. “If that’s the worst of it, it's not that bad at all,” he laughed.
Luckily, Maine-bred Ashley has had no problem adjusting to the hustle and bustle of New York, where J.P. has lived for years. “She absolutely loves it!” he said. “She loves the convenience of everything, and loves the food. She’s had the best meals she could ever have.”
Though the couple has been engaged for months, the wedding plans are still up in the air. “She’s still finishing up school,” J.P. explained of University of Pennsylvania dental student Ashley. “After that all gets finished, we’ll start talking about it. There’s no timeline, but we know it’s going to happen!”

Ashley Hebert & J.P. Rosenbaum Too Busy to Plan a Wedding
By Melody Chiu
Thursday November 03, 2011 01:00 PM EDT
Just because they're not planning a wedding doesn't mean there's trouble in paradise for Ashley Hebert and fiancé J.P. Rosenbaum.
"We're so busy that even if I wanted to plan [a wedding] right now, I don't think I could," the former Bachelorette, 26, told PEOPLE at the Dodge Rock 'n' Roll Los Angeles marathon.
Hebert, who is in her final weeks of dental school and currently applying to pediatric residencies in New York, says, "My brain is just not there right now."
But the couple isn't waiting too long, and will "start talking about [wedding planning] after the New Year," assured Rosenbaum, 34.
For now, they're just enjoying what downtime they have and getting used to living together in New York.
"My closet space is a lot less now and the place is twice as big," joked Rosenbaum. "But it's her idiosyncrasies that I love and there's no pet peeve of hers that really gets to me."
And what's a favorite date night for the low-key couple?
"We just both have really busy, crazy lives, so staying in, making dinner and watching a movie is my personal favorite," said Hebert.

a.m. New York (page 15)Catching up with NYC ‘Bachelor’ lovebirds
Could this reality couple actually have a shot? NYC resident JP Rosenbaum
cuddled up to his fiancee, “Bachelorette” Ashley Hebert, in the stands at an Islanders game Saturday night, where we caught up with the pair.
Do you guys have a wedding date? JP: We don't know. [Ashley] is going to start her pediatric residency hopefully in June, and she's going to school down in Philly for the next three or four weeks — so after the New
Year, we'll start thinking about things.
But you live together now? Ashley: We live together in New York.
What do you think of living in NYC? Ashley: It’s a lot of energy, and it is a lot of hustle and bustle. I’m from a really small town, so it's a big change for me, but I’m getting accustomed to it.
Are things back to normal, post-show? Ashley: I don't know if we'll ever go back to completely “normal,” but I think we've definitely reached as normal as we’re going to be. JP: Normal jobs , normal bills to pay, just like everyone else.
Would you do another reality show and let cameras in on your life right now? JP [with no hestitation]: No. Ashley: Probably not. We love our normal life. I think we’re both much better and happier in the real world.

JP Rosenbaum and Ashley Hebert were on thin ice this weekend ... at the Islanders hockey game!
The Islanders beat the Washington Capitals 5 to 3 at Saturday night's game, a sweet victory for JP who has been a fan of the New York hockey team since he was 4-years-old!
JP competed in a shootout contest during the second intermission with one of his biggest fans that won a Twitter contest the Islanders held!
"It's a dream come true," JP gushed of the experience. "The show [The Bachelorette] is one thing, but this is another level for me."
The game marked Ashley's first time as a hockey spectator!
"I'm really excited. I think walking into the arena, you can feel the energy," Ashley shared. "JP is so excited about it...that's my No. 1 priority. That's what makes me so excited about it."
After the game, JP and Ashley met the Islanders players who gave them a locker room tour, posed for pictures and signed a stick for the couple!
So wow would this rate as a date for The Bachelorette?
"I don't know if they have done any major sporting events before but definitely coming to a hockey game — it's the best live sport your can watch," JP told NHL.com.
"That would have been a good hometown date," Ashely added.

Part about JP and Ashley:
Meanwhile, Chris said Bachelorette Ashley Hebert and her fiancée J.P. Rosenbaum are still head over heels in love. What has he heard about them lately? “A wedding! That’s how good they’re doing. I’m hearing rumors that a wedding is coming very soon. They are doing fantastic and could not be more in love. I’m so unbelievably excited for them and can’t wait to go the wedding.”
When asked if Ashley had told him any specific plans, Chris replied, “No, nor would I say anything if she had. I know a wedding date and wedding plans are something you don’t mess with as far as women go. That is all hers! I do talk to her and keep in touch with her and they are so good and so happy and in love and they’ve really figured things out. They’re in New York and I think that’s where they’re going to stay. It’s really cool to see they’re having such a good time.

Reality stars Hebert, Underwood help crown new Miss Maine USA
http://bangordailynews.com/2011/11/20/living/reality-stars-hebert-underwood-help-crown-new-miss-maine-usa/
By Seth Koenig, BDN Staff
Posted Nov. 20, 2011, at 10:06 p.m.
WESTBROOK, Maine — One of Maine’s reality TV star daughters said she is likely done with the limelight, while another has plans to return to television.
Madawaska native Ashley Hebert, who starred on the seventh season of ABC’s “The Bachelorette,” and Ashley Underwood, who finished in the top four in CBS’ “Survivor: Redemption Island,” co-hosted the Miss Maine and Miss Teen Maine USA pageant Sunday night at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center.
There, they were on hand to see Miss Bar Harbor, Rani Williamson, claim the coveted 2012 crown and sash from reigning Miss Maine USA Ashley Lynn Marble. As such, Williamson is lined up to make her own network television debut next June, when she’ll represent the Pine Tree State at the Miss USA pageant broadcast live on NBC.
Taking the 2012 teen title Sunday night was Greely Regional High School junior Molly Fitzpatrick, 16, who was crowned by reigning Miss Teen Maine USA Alexis McIlwain.
The gala event Sunday came on the heels, no pun intended, of a preliminary show Saturday night, at which the fields were whittled to 10 semifinalists for Miss Maine USA and 15 for Miss Teen USA.
Hebert and Underwood emceed the program Sunday, calling out the contestants, introducing the judges and pageant staff, and describing the show sponsors.
After the approximately two-hour pageant — which included swimsuit, evening gown and short interview competitions — the two high-profile Ashleys took a few moments to respectively talk to the Bangor Daily News about reality TV stardom and what’s on the horizon.
Hebert, who is less than three weeks from finishing University of Pennsylvania dental school classes, said she thinks she is done with the spotlight. Just like “The Bachelorette,” in which she had to pare down a pack of 25 suitors to pick a fiance, she said dental school is “strenuous and leaves me with a lot of sleepless nights.”
Joining her in Westbrook on Sunday was J.P. Rosenbaum, the New York construction manager she handed the winner’s rose to in the “Bachelorette” finale. Rosenbaum graciously posed for photos with several fans as the audience was settling for the pageant Sunday, and afterward echoed Hebert’s sentiment that the couple hasn’t had time to get around to wedding planning yet.
But soon enough. Hebert said she’s anxious to “just be normal.”
“I’m ready for everything to be over,” said Hebert, who commutes four days a week from the couple’s New York City home to Philadelphia for classes. “I’m ready to have time to enjoy our engagement.”
Underwood, on the other hand, is pursuing a career in sports broadcasting, combining her love of sports — she was a basketball star at both Cony High School and the University of Maine in Orono — with the stage presence she showed as Miss Maine USA 2009.
The “Survivor” star is planning to hike Mount Kilimanjaro in January to raise money for the charity Flying Kites, and said she would gladly return for another installment of the CBS hit reality show if given the opportunity.
“‘Survivor’ is really hard to describe in one word — it was terrible, and it was amazing,” Underwood said. “It really opened a lot of doors for me, and I had a great experience. But I think anybody who has been on that show and didn’t win has a lingering, unfulfilled goal out there.”
As someone who has worn the sash, Underwood said strutting the stage in a bikini, among the other challenges facing pageant contestants, primes a girl for almost anything in life. She said the Miss Maine USA experience prepared her well for life on “Redemption Island.”
“I think it takes so much confidence to get up here and compete,” she said.
Hebert and Underwood weren’t the only ones in the building with reality show credentials. Francesca Hogi, one of the event’s six judges, was also a contestant on “Survivor: Redemption Island,” and fellow judge John Reny was a featured hairstylist on the MTV teen reality show “Made.”
“We do try to pull those people in,” Miss Maine USA Executive Director Mackenzie Davis, a former winner herself, said of the pageant’s celebrity turnout. “It helps show these girls what’s out there for them.”
Fitzpatrick, who came into the competition titled Miss Body By John, said she would be willing to try her hand at “Survivor,” but said her immediate goals are to use her new crown to help bring awareness to good causes.
“I’m really eager to get out there and make a difference,” said Fitzpatrick, who aspires to become a nurse like her mother. “I’m really looking forward to working with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Special Olympics.”
Williamson, who was once picked as a “hometown hottie” by Maxim magazine, is heading off to New York City to join a marketing firm in January, she said. The University of Southern Maine graduate said that after competing in last year’s Miss Maine USA pageant, she came into this year’s event “just wanting to have fun with it.”
She has a direct line to a nationwide TV audience, as she will take on the rest of the states’ beauty queens on NBC next June.
“It’s daunting, but in a good way,” Williamson said after the Sunday night event. “It still seems like a dream, so maybe when I wake up in the morning, I’ll have a better idea what the next year will hold for me.”
