Ash is in love and she doesn't even realize it. Maybe she's never been in love before or maybe her and sis were being that dense. (sorry if you are lurking Ash ) But as soon as sis said something and Ash immediately breaks into tears says it all. She did this twice and got on the defensive and threw the B-word at her sister. Yes, I do think at this point that Ash had two choices and she needed to figure it out but sorry I really don't think Ben was one. It was JP or walk away alone. I simply cannot be convinced that someone she could only kiss closed mouth and not even notice until half way through the season was going to get engaged to her. It at least wouldn't have been believable to me anyway. CH said she had made her choice going into the finale and her sister threw her for a loop. It would have been hard for anyone (even Ben) to believe that a girl with her mind made up all of sudden pulls a 180 because of something her sister said... uhh no. I don't think that's how love works.
I love Ben... I find myself cupping my hands around his face on my computer because he's so darn precious but I don't see him and Ash ever getting engaged within the time constraints of this show. Maybe I'm just drunk of the kool-aid.

I do agree with those of you saying that Ben sincerely thought his proposal would be accepted. Someone told him this would be a good idea. Apparently he is quite confident while picking out rings. Me thinks someone was playing with his head big time. Whether it be production and or Ashley either way it's kinda sad.

Well, I had a hard time wrapping my head around it during Trista's Season. Her kisses with Ryan were mostly pecks, especially during her FRC. That is why Ashley's pecks with Ben didn't really matter that much to me.

Trista's season was a long time ago, but I must have watched a different show than you did. I know Ryan didn't kiss her until later in the season, HTDs possibly, but I recall some serious makeout sessions between them, particularly one in a hot tub that left Ryan a little, shall we say, uncomfortable and not appropriate for family viewing.

If it makes you feel better to say that Ben towered over CH, and point out that JP is shorter than CH, have at it. Not worth quibbling about and doesn't change which one got the girl.

Wow, I know its just a screen shot but JP does not look at all happy in that SC. I cannot believe how close in color both Ben and JP's suits are.

And at the AFRC, JP said they will get married.
But first Ashley is going to finish school and move to NYC, & get a job in denistry. I think they'll be married within a year of that move. jmo

That's JP's poker face. It's just how he looks when he's walking around. And I agree - he has serious anxiety walking up to the FRC. I don't mind BC he looks super hot with his serious face. :D

Thank you for your kind words. I have thought a good deal about this for the last few days. I kind of wanted to get at the "why" of what happened, rather than assigning blame. I am reserving any final judgements and opinions until I see it all play out for myself. I wonder how much of what we see will be a result of possible producer manipulation. That in no way means that there should be no responsibility assigned to the people involved. I just cannot be sure at this time.

I really loved your last sentence! It's a good observation. You are quite right in questioning why Ashley didn't seem to be prepared for a possible proposal from Ben and had a "B" plan in mind. It's certainly fair to bring that up if we are going to question Ben's lack of preparation!

Well, two things that definitely stayed consistent on the editing, when alot of others were epic fail, F1 got the date in epi 3 and F1 is on the right proposing, F2 on the left. Maybe next season that will be the only thing we can know for sure. :P

Am I forgetting something? I remember Roberto being on the left.

He was. He's an exception along with Emily and someone else I can't remember. Most F1's are on the right. Plus it didn't matter which side Roberto was on, since Chris L. was never at the FRC.

That would be me that said it. It was an observation. We were comparing heights this season and it surprised me at how different they look in these pics. I have no idea why that would offend anyone.

Since there were comments about pecks with Ben, what do you all think about Ashley's comment to Ben in the mud bath about wishing she could reach lower? I thought it was very suggestive and surprised me since she knew she'd be getting engaged to another guy in a day or two. Perhaps Ben had good reason to think he was "the one". I think there was possibly a lot more chemistry with Ben than people think.
