That kind of leads me to believe he didn't know she'd be joining despite the persisting rumours that he had to choose from a pool of returnees. He seemed genuinely surprised and confused to me.

JMO, but I think it's super hard to gauge what the vast majority of viewers think. Only a minority of them are active on SM and, even out of those millions, there's no way to get a completely accurate scientific analysis. Not to mention that most viewers just believe whatever TPTB and the edit tells them to believe. Most still believe that EM never went to the FS or that Jason dumped Melissa on TV!

Either way, at the end of the day, Becca was filler. She was put on season 20 to spice things up. She was not a serious contender, and Ben obviously didn't pick her, so that's that. She was there for the story...just not a romantic one.

Super hard? Not so much, imo and based on how I've worked with stats and error propagation. SM and media itself may be a slim view but it is usually very representative of what general viewers are thinking. I am sure that there could be some statistical analysis to gauge the correlation between general viewers and with feedback (whether SM, bloggers, Media, etc). Stats like this are done all the time for other TV shows as well as for political campaigns where feedback is drawn from a vastly smaller sample than the audience itself.

Also, all bloggers put Becca in their top list of some sort, all media mentions her as someone who is getting plenty roses, Bach Live first ep poll drafted her as #1 pick and also had the cardboard cutout of her, and on and on. So yes, I do think the majority of viewers think the way that media, SM, and bloggers and the like think.

It's not a stretch to think that SM/Media/etc = majority of viewers since that's usually how it is for everyone and every season. To say otherwise would be like saying that the majority of viewers may dislike that Ben was cast as the bachelor just because the majority of viewers are not active on SM. Sorry, but that doesn't fly, imo, just because it doesn't sit with a minority viewpoint. And it's a minority viewpoint because it is not what is most represented.

They had her as #1 for F1, which is very different than saying they actually like her. Thet also had Olivia up there as a top contender and people hate her now!

And, figuring out SM response to the "bachelor pick" is much easier than figuring out SM response to "whether Becca is in it for fame or love? Is Becca genuine? In this moment, did Becca come off sneaky or guilty" It's too many different things to look at and consider. Just because she has high followers doesn't mean much. Britt had the highest IG followers back then and was disliked by many.

This is all a moot point to me anyways, because I'm not going to just go along with the "vast majority" or think that an opinion is valid, just because it's popular.

I do think a correlation of positive overall feedback about Becca = in it for the right reasons, etc. To say otherwise makes zero sense, imo.

Doesn't mean she was or wasn't, but it is a way to gauge what audiences think. It's done for all contestants since forever and a day so don't see it any differently now.

Most important, it — specifically Twitter — is what TPTB use as well to gauge audience reaction to contestants    

I totally understand about minority/majority opinion because I liked Nick when the vast majority of overall feedback was negative by SM and the like. Still never stopped me from liking him. So I get it.

But at no point did I think that the negative overall response was not the majority one (I believe it was) — I just didn't agree with it.

Yep. Filler. Matter of time girl (MOT). Bachelorette wannabe.

Farmer didn't choose Becca. Ben didn't choose Becca. These are facts.

I am sorry but that is not a fact, it is opinion.
IMO, I have no idea if any of these were brought in as filler right out the gate 100% and with proof.
For all I know, a lot of the contestants could have been, but I can't state that as fact, only my opinion.
It gets confusing when statements are made as fact and not JMO/IMO.
