Becca Tilly - Bachelor 20 - #3 - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*

As someone who really liked Becca last season, I haven't noticed any change in her behaviour. I read her SM way back during last season and she's always been funny, maybe obnoxious and try-hard for some since different strokes for different folks, but she really hasn't changed at all IMO. Chris always mentioned how funny she was, as did Danny Hoyt, who knows her, on After Buzz, yet they barely showed that on the show, apart from that dinner with Chris's family where she made them all crack up. That's why I find it strange when people say she got a good edit and was liked last season. She didn't really and she wasn't. Yes, there were quite a few of us on this board who liked her, but everywhere else I read, people were saying she had zero personality and was as boring as watching paint dry. That in addition to the obsession TPTB had with her virginity, which annoyed a lot of people, even though it wasn't her fault. And then when she didn't say ILY to Chris, they tried to suggest there's something wrong with her. How is that a good edit? It's not like they could give her a bad one when she really didn't do anything wrong, but it certainly wasn't that good either IMO. If people are comparing her words and behaviour now to the portrayal of her on the show last season, then surely there is a difference, but it's not because she's changed. It's because she got a very one-dimensional edit on the show. If you preferred that then that's fine, but IMO she's just being herself, as she should.

I just spent 1/2 hour trying to edit, snip, delete etc, and gave up. All posts referring to nitpicking have been deleted.

The original comment was directed towards the opinions of posters which indicated we are nitpicking. As per forum rules, we do not, ever, post our thoughts regarding someone's opinions. It's the posters right on this forum to share their thoughts. I realize some posts were quoted responding to other posts with regards to nitpicking and they were not the original poster, however once posts are quoted and requoted it's very time consuming to edit them, therefore they were all deleted.

Good for you and the forum. The amount of time dealing with stuff that we all know better can be better spent in other ways. Thank you--deletion is our friend when the rules can't be followed.

TPTB had limited options with delivering a storyline for Becca as CS's F2. She's the typical attractive enough contestant with no career, no education and no life experiences to highlight. The only things mildly interesting about her was a former NFL player brother-in-law, a "friends without benefits" relationship with Dez Duron and her virginity. 

TPTB only knew About Becca's virginity because she told them. Perhaps she felt it would make her stand out as a special little snowflake. Who knows? Don't know, don't care. IMHO.

Actually she didn't tell them. It only came up when she blurted it out at the cocktail party in support of Ashley I, who was freaking out about telling Chris she's a virgin. Becca said in some interview that when that happened the producers rushed her to the interview room. She wasn't planning on divulging that information before that.

I think pretty much everyone gets a one dimensional edit on this show. I don't think Becca is any different than most contestants. To be honest, I've tried to remember anyone that got a good, well rounded, multi dimensional edit and I'm drawing a blank. (Of course, I am also sick and a little loopy at the moment, so it could be that).

I do get what you are saying about how she was portrayed and I believe those were some of the things she complained about. However, while that is true, those things apply to other contestants as well...other than the virginity...and would she have rather been portrayed like Ashley I? Overall, I do think she was portrayed well, mind you that probably was also a result of her own conduct and she likely didn't give them that much to work with. If the worst complaint she had coming out of the show was that she was portrayed as boring, she should consider herself lucky and frankly, if she is that sensitive about her portrayal, I don't understand why she did the show the first time...let alone the second!

I think she just got the "boring virgin" edit. They really didn't show her personality at all. Unless you followed her on SC, periscope, and Twitter, ypu couldn't really see what her sense of humor was like. Kind of like Sean, who came off as super boring and rehearsed on Emily's season, but seemed witty and laid-back on Twitter. That's why I think that Becca hasn't really changed at all - she used young adult acronyms and funny quotes and got tattoos all like a normal 20-something last year too. 

I do agree that she seemed a bit overly sensitive to her edit and how her family was portrayed, which is why I was disappointed that she did the show again. She couldn't handle mild criticism, so I don't know how she's going to handle it this year, when it could potentially be worse. I do think she'll probably fade into the background again this season though. JMO.

Since I don't follow any of these people on social media...I barely follow my own family and friends...most of what I know about their behaviour is from here. Changed or not, she seems very sensitive to her portrayal.

I agree that the response to her could potentially be worse this season. We know she doesn't go as far, so I don't see as much focus being on her this year as there was last. The top four will get more emphasis so not as much time to spend on Becca. That more than likely means her edit will be even more one dimensional, with even less of her personality shown. I suspect the virginity will once again be beaten to death, with a shade of desperation thrown in for good measure. I doubt she will be happy with her edit. I seem to remember that there was a tweet or something shortly after she was eliminated that sounded a tad touchy already???
