ribbons of color wrote:David was asked to be on the show, they came and invited him, not the other way around. I feel so bad for these two, she is no fool, and either is he, they are in it now for the money, and only the money, they never had a drop of chemistry together, they don't even like one another a little bit, but have to suck it up, and play to the camera for 6wks., bet they can't wait till this joy ride is over.
Re the bold, how do we know this is true or is it your opinion? Please provide facts, or state IMO (In my opinion).

Has anyone seen the YouTube video, Tensions Rise Between David and Ashley from MAFS? It seems that the woman he arranged to meet for drinks was her friend, he was looking to learn more about Ashley. Sigh...

She's acting like someone who has something to hide. She's been keeping David away from all her friends and family the entire time and flips out when he tries to talk to one. Says a lot.

Sure looks like this is a spoiler. Even the article highlighted two words together, that kind of gives it away. "we #####"

IMO as a person whose been married a long time....
!. David gave us a clear indication to his view of marriage initially.
A. He is still holding on to the romantic notion of his parents' life together. Wants a possible carbon copy or just be married to be like his friends?
B. He also said that he tends to jump in with both feet, and isn't good at dating. He brought Ashley flowers, but deeds speak louder then words my friend.
So now we see why;
He holds the past as if it were current. Has his mother remarried? Is that a family trait? Death is a part of life, no matter how uncomfortable that is. If we stay stuck on it, we never move forward. That is not usually what well balanced loved ones would want for us, after they've left this life.
His idea of intimacy seems to be only about making physical contact. Sure it's a blow to a guy's ego when the person they want attention from does not find them attractive. Take a page from Neal's book. Swallow a chill pill or two and grow up!
The pity me act is constant and OLD! Seeking validation from being surrounded by lots of friends, screams someone who has not faced the insecurities within themselves and doesn't want to.
At the beginning I thought he was a pretty good guy, with a big heart. Iwas hoping they would find middle ground and sort it out. But now I think this marriage is a lost cause.
2. Ashley comes from a very reserved place. Asking for someone different then the "type" she dated before may have been her mistake. Her comments regarding the guys at the bachette party juxtaposed to his frat boy fun, looked like instant trouble. Either polar opposites attract or magnetic fields create deflection.
A. David's exuberance and downright pushiness, cause her to dig her heels in and resist opening up. That mean loggerheads, stailmate, standoffs, etc.
B. At this point every time I here her claim something is "uncomfortable" I want to scream. Even if this WERE a good match, there are things in life that are not going to be comfy and sweet. Does that mean bailing out and shutting down? NO! It means putting the pouty face in the back pocket, pulling up big girl panties and DEALING, to get through to the other side. Once there, learn the lesson and take the positive along.
Young lady, you knew you were going to be in front of a tv camera. Your authenticity is now in question. Why do this if you would be "uncomfortable"? Why take that chance that the match might not be someone with whom there's an attraction? If you're just doing this for cash (per suggested by others) then I'm sure you'll enjoy spending whatever the amount is. BUT what will this do to your reputation? Will other guys see tidbits of the show and shy away from engaging with you because you are "that girl that was judgmental and stubborn"? Money does not buy happiness.

She is never comfortable, her words, I need space, her words, IMO this relationship is a hot mess, but we must keep in mind how much of this hot mess is due to editing?

Re: MAFS - Dave and Ashley - *Sleuthing - Spoilers* - Discussion
Do we really need to use the "IMO" with this couple anymore? They aren't going to make it; one does not have to be even remotely perceptive to know where this is headed. I find David to be tone deaf and pushy, but the constant "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia," I mean, "Ashley, Ashley, Ashley," from Ashley is so over the top it screams narcissist. This can't be an easy process and I am sure there are wonderful moments left on the cutting room floor, but other than the one compassionate moment when Ashley comforted David in the bathroom on Father's Day, I have yet to hear her ask him how he's feeling, what he needs, what his hopes and dreams are. There is no depth here, whether it's from her lack of attraction or an innate inability to ever feel or show kindness or empathy, Ashley is coming across exactly as she's presenting herself. That said, David's effort may be 100% genuine (and I suspect it is), but his inability to really hear what Ashley is saying is weird and I can see where it would get way old, way fast. The Fourth of July party was an example; Ashley was clear she wanted it small (I know, she dictates everything, but if David is going to continue to publicly state he did EVERYTHING possible, it should be noted, ah, no you didn't buddy) She wanted small, they even discussed it with one of the "experts" and it was decided it should be small. Clearly, it wasn't. David's excuse was that out of towners called and hoped to attend, "How could I say no without being rude?" Well, if you're doing EVERYTHING to make your marriage work, pretty easily. He talks out of both sides of his mouth; just because he says it with a smile doesn't make it any more acceptable.
