AUGUSTA -- Jason Maxim is an Angeleno now, acting and trying to make his way in business among the palms and boulevards of Los Angeles.

But when he was growing up in Augusta, Maxim loved to go four-wheeling and "always drove a truck," he said.
"I'm a city boy with a country heart," Maxim said.
That put him in the middle of a culture clash on the County Music Television reality show "Sweet Home Alabama," which features "city slickers" and "country boys" competing for the affection of University of Alabama student Devin Grissom, 20.
Maxim lasted long enough on the show to become one of the final four suitors, but was eliminated this week. Grissom will make her final choice in the finale Thursday.
Maxim, 29, is considered a city slicker, but he said he offers a lot more than that, thanks to his upbringing in central Maine.
"I'm the best of both worlds," he said. "And at the end of the day, I think that's what Devin's kind of looking for."
She wants to work in public relations in professional sports, and that could require moving to a big city, Maxim said.
Maxim said he enjoyed getting to know Grissom and the other men on the show. Some of his favorite activities were skeet shooting and going on a date with Grissom in Times Square during a short trip to New York City.
The show was filmed earlier this summer in Fairhope, Ala., a city on Mobile Bay that's a bit smaller than Augusta.
It was beautiful in spite of the intense humidity, Maxim said.
"And I had a lot of good Southern food, some fried catfish and fried pickles, stuff like that that you really don't get in Los Angeles," he said.
Maxim encountered lots of stereotypes from both sides of the divides between North and South, urban and rural.
"People think I don't care about God and my family because I live in a city," he said. "The experience opened my eyes to a lot of things, but I also saw there are a lot of similarities."
According to CMT, "Sweet Home Alabama" is on pace to be the channel's highest-rated show of 2011, and casting is under way for a second season.

Funny how the eliminated guys are not asked who they think "won." They must all know and cannot say.
As with so many things, there is the story told, and there is the story itself.
