The Bachelorette - Season 12 - Potential Lead - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*

I prefer Caila over JoJo. As far as personality I see nothing from JoJo. I'm still trying to figure her out. She's very blah to me with very little personality. The fact that her brother dated Jamie Otis from TB and MAFS, was on a Reality TV show himself where she was shown quite a bit during the meet the family and has Jake P as a friend, tells me she is in the fame compartment. She has become a little into herself with the selfies since the show premiered. I have no idea how she got to F2. Even if we see a turn of events starting Monday, little too late for me. Up until now, IMO she wasn't into Ben at all.

I remember when she was being sleuthed, she changed her f/b profile pic a couple of times in a two week spam when word was getting out she was a contestant, plus this pic mentioning how her eyebrows and hair come together. I'm just not believing she was ever on the show for any reason other than herself. Not much difference than many others, but she doesn't show any interest IMO.

My opinion is she was simply brought in to play her role ala Shayne Lamas. The role being do what tptb need--whether it be F1 or F2, but hopefully not F3 or if nothing more, than a MOT. Being in the reality tv genre, she would be a pretty face with the in/out knowledge of how reality tv works and could help move the season along.

I think JoJo genuinely liked Ben, but once she saw he's all about Lauren, she retreated. The change was so obvious last week and I can't see any reason for it other than her hopes got crushed. If she was just playing a role, she would still be playing it. JMO.

I also don't see Caila as someone all men could see themselves with. I think she's stunning, but she doesn't seem to be the men's favourite and I can only assume it has a lot to do with her personality.

  Jojo has shown the most personality to me of the top 5.  The others (even Lauren, sorry to say, have become really boring tome).  And I find Jojo to be coming across really genuine and much more down to earth than I exected - if that's an act, she's sure doing it well because I've never felt her putting on an act, but do see she's very aware she's not Ben's fav but is now supposed to keep acting like she believes she might end up with him, and with that she is struggling.  To me that is def no putting on an act but being very real.  JMO.

And Caila has come across as young as she is and she's the one who has faded into the woodwork for me and become pretty bland and boring when I kind of expected the opposite from her so less interested in her as lead than after week 2.

I do like both thought, so would enjoy either as Ette.  But for me Jojo is a much better choice - she seems much more a woman than a girl compared to Caila.

I think JoJo comes off more real than Caila does, but if JoJo's the 'ette I'll question if she's genuinely there to find a husband more than I would with Caila. Caila's been kind of awkward at times, but if she can get more comfortable in front of the camera, I think she would be good.

GA.. agree about that IG pic. I will never understand why all the vain selfies are socially acceptable now.

Dana Weiss called JoJo a "basic bitch" in her blog and I had to ask my son exactly what that meant. He said it's something his friends have discussed often and that they feel it's an epidemic problem with girls. It's about creating an image and basically marketing yourself through SM. He said that girls look for IG moments rather than living in moments. He also said the girls that the term applies to lack goals and ambitions of their own, and instead project an image. Sad. He said the term "basic" is more about girls all wearing the same sort of clothes. I don't think girls should be bashed for liking things many girls enjoy, but the other term by his definition sounds pretty bad. Not sure if Dana meant it that way though.
He also added that Ben should have gone for Alex Morgan or Kelly O'hara.

Um, that's not a good thing.
Someone who is unflinchingly upholding of the status quo and stereotypes of their gender without even realizing it. She engages in typical, unoriginal behaviors, modes of dress, speech, and likes. She is tragically/laughably unaware of her utter lack of specialness and intrigue. She believes herself to be unique, fly, amazing, and a complete catch, when really she is boring, painfully normal, and par. She believes her experiences to be crazy, wild, and different or somehow more special than everything that everybody else is doing, when really, almost everyone is doing or has done the exact same thing. She is typical and a dime a dozen. There are many subtypes of basicness, such as the basic ratchet, the basic sorority bitch, the basic groupie bitch, the basic I'm-so-Carrie-from-Sex-and-the-City bitch, etc, but ultimately, they all share the common thread of being expendable and unnoteworthy and, in some cases, having absolutely no redeeming qualities.

Haha, Jojo is definitely a basic bitch...but, TBH, most of the Bachelor girls are. I've said before that Jojo gives me off spoiled, mean girl, alpha vibe that would probably become more apparent in her own season, but I'd still rather watch that than Caila. She just comes off as such a child-like, disney princess who's trying so hard to be the perfect mix of sweet and quirky. It's too annoying to watch on a regular basis. And, yes, I know everyone is acting to a certain point, but she doesn't sell it at all. Added to all the things I've heard about her from people that went to school with her, I don't think I could get through a season with her. JMO.

grace: I didn't know there was a terminology for what you described. It's pretty sad SM basically has taken over lives. I have seen daughters of friends posting SM pics just as your son explained. What is the purpose of showing so much cleavage with each pic, and I'm talking under 20 yrs old.

JoJo is just that IMO. She is marketing herself through her IG. IA with Kasha I too have come to the conclusion, she is just playing her role, but IMO she's not doing a good job. I have tried to keep an open mind. But here we are not far from the FRC and I don't see anything from her that tells me she will be blindsided when it doesn't appear to me, she is falling in love to begin with. I have a feeling we'll be seeing Oscar performances in a few weeks.

All F4 girls have posted several selfies of themselves and with their friends on their SM. I don't see the difference between theirs and JoJo's. Out of the F4, JoJo is the only one IMO that has had deep conversations with Ben, has come off as sounding like an actual adult and comes across as intelligent. Caila tries, but she speaks in terms that are way over her head and she comes off as ridiculous at times IMO.

Dana Weiss appears to be on friendly terms with JoJo and her brother Ben, so I wouldn't be surprised if she was kidding, especially because it's a blog filled with snark and humor aimed at all of the girls, but regardless, a "basic *****" could probably be applied to all of the F4 after one look at their social media accounts IMO.

JoJo may be popular with some of the men because she leads with a very strong sexual vibe. I find her to be very ho hum.  Average.  I don't find her intellectual or interesting.  I can't understand why she is seen as more mature than Caila??  I guess because she seems way more sexually experienced...therefore that makes her mature?  

As far as book smarts or understanding global awareness Caila is in a league of her own.  I think plenty of men that are more sophisticated and worldly than the typical trainers and out of work slackers the show casts, will find Caila very appealing.  I certainly hope TPTB/ABC casts Caila as the next Bachelorette.  Her dates would be sooo much more interesting than JoJo's.  I would love a season with a more complex and diversified lead.  Plus she had a knock out smile and loves art and travel.

No matter who the bette is, not all the men will be into her. That is just the way it is...every season. Even Emily who was touted as the most beautiful...not by me...wasn't liked by all the guys. Once some of them realised she was not the brightest bulb in the pack and was more concerned about her appearance, that attraction went out the window. JoJo or Caila, it would be the same. All of my guy friends who watch the show think they are both attractive.

As for personality, for me, this season is sadly lacking. Other than Olivia and to a lesser degree Jubilee, all the girls have been pretty bland. JoJo is no different. I prefer Caila because she just seems more pleasant to me. She seems happier and more easy going. JoJo, I see as Andi 2.0 who will get b*tchy the moment things don't go her way and frankly I have had enough of that already with Andi and Kaitlyn.

I agree with both posts. JoJo has (recently) been described as "mechanical" and IMO that's an apt word. She says the "right things" (as in what TPTB want her to say) but IMO without feeling the right things. The disconnect between what she says and what she projects as feeling makes her look mechanical.

Perhaps more than any contestant I can think of offhand she comes from a "reality TV dynasty" and has had enough exposure to what happens behind the curtain and that allows her to slip into whatever role was needed; including being TOG (The Other Girl) to Ben's lead. I have difficulty seeing JoJo as being someone Ben would be attracted to (other than physically / as a friend) as a partner and I have just as much difficulty seeing Ben as someone JoJo would be attracted to (other than as a matter of convenience during a reality TV show).

I understand the view that it's difficult to make the F2 the lead for The Bachelorette and while I think it could be done of they wanted to, perhaps the reason JoJo (probably) ends up as F2 is because she's batter cast as F2 / TOG than next lead.

JMHO
