Kaitlyn Bristowe - Shawn Booth - Bachelorette 11 - General Discussion

This is on Twitter of Canadian show that she went to appear to elaborate what she is going to talk on TED this Saturday . Yeah it is about cyber bullying and her time on reality show bachelorette and her post bachelorette life .

Kaitlyn's advice she states on her BT interview in regards to her upcoming TEDx talk to 15 year olds who are being cyber bullied:
1. "Ignore it"
2. "Sometimes I like to respond and say 'Why?"... Not attack but just ask "Why?"

:shocked!: Ummm... So two things that Kaitlyn has proven she doesn't do herself.    


This is why Kaitlyn is so fake to me.     
How on earth can someone be seen as "real" and not fake when their actions don't match their words. 
And this seems to be Kaitlyn's problem in lots of arenas (something which her own now-fiance called her out on during the show).  
Kaitlyn can't walk the walk and doesn't follow her own advice but somehow thinks that just because she has been on reality TV she's a role model to 15 year olds?!   
People like Kaitlyn that hand out advice should follow it themselves first if they wish to be taken seriously.  

If I was the parent of any teenager, I most certainly would not want them looking for advice from Kaitlyn...or any reality star for that matter.

Who is the audience for this stuff? I have never heard of them before. Are teenagers their typical audience?

Kaitlyn is so phony ! "Just ask why" and acting shocked that people recognize her on the street for 'being the bachelorette' in response to being asked if she got typecast (whaaaaat???) Are perfect examples of how full of #$&@! she is!  Omg, and cut to sean sitting behind the scenes... Of COURSE he's there! So ... Yuck. Just gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Sure, charity work is applaudable. However, when done to further ones career or polish their image, well, not so much...

So, this is the real Kaitlyn Bristowe, who just re-writes history and lies. I'm not all that shocked she is such a liar, we knew this during her season. I'm only disappointed in myself that I once thought she is a genuine person.

I remember approaching the end of Chris' season, RS still said K had no chance at all to become the lead because no one would take her seriously because of her behaviour on SM pre-filming, and how she acted in her limo exit. But then I thought, we may have a Jillian 2.0 B'ette, that's cool. OMG, I am so wrong!!!

Teenagers are definitely not the audience for TEDx Talks. Because this one is organized by TEDx Vancouver, I suspect it will attract mostly the typical academics and those who are usually participants in making their city a better place and are involved in some aspect of improvement - whether it be self/school/city, etc...

To give one an idea... this is the purpose of TEDx events as posted on TED and TEDx Rules:

To say that I am astonished that someone holding a TEDx license has Kaitlyn speaking is an understatement.

IMO, nothing Kaitlyn has done warrants her being given this platform nor does it even fit the rules and purpose for which these events are designed and having Kaitlyn speak makes a mockery of what TEDx is supposed to be about.

Kaitlyn is not worthy of this platform but even worse (as someone who is part of an organizing selection committee for TEDx/TED talks) whomever gave her the opportunity to do so is not worthy of their license, IMHO.

So AAL how in the world did she get scheduled for this event? Wouldn't the people organizing this look into her background, read/view what's on SM, watch her interviews after the show.... for example???

The spirit/purpose for this organization doesn't seem to match very well (like not at all) with Kaitlyn's spirit/purpose. JMO.

TBH, I have no clue and it is why I am astonished that it is happening. I can only gather she knows someone personally and that person convinced those who have zero clue who Kaitlyn really is, other than a snippet of news articles about her "controversial choices" and they spun this to be a cyber bullying initiative thing and presented it as such.

Even so, it begs the question where is the vetting to maintain integrity for these events? It would make sense if Kaitlyn actually had started a foundation or a charity or had a record these past 6 months of active engagement in raising awareness on a great level (with over 1 million instagram followers it should have been easy to do. She could have googled ideas for it. Heck, 6 year olds have done more for the cause with less influence, I am sure).

I just shake my head at those involved. They are only bringing down the TEDx name/reputation and I won't be surprised if it ends up backfiring when someone does do their homework on this person who literally has done nothing that warrants her having this platform. It would only take one person reporting this and then another and all of a sudden controversy for what is an exemplary organization - even those who are independent from TED itself, which TEDx is, know to uphold certain standards. And it is because of those standards that makes TED/TEDx great. To have someone on because of 'controversy' at risk of a great organization is nothing less than not being worthy of holding a TEDx license, IMHO.

What type of money would she make for an event like this?

Kasha, you have eloquently stated my own feelings exactly! My dog brings so much unconditional love & joy to my life , I could not imagine being away from him for such a long stretch, either.

I actually considered sending in an audition video for my handsome four legged furball, for the next bachelor lead, .  [/size]
