Kaitlyn Bristowe - Shawn Booth - Bachelorette 11 - General Discussion

LoveBites, I do not know because I do not know Shawn or his family. What I know from Instagram posts is that he reno'd a house with his dad in Connecticut and put it up for sale and posted a photo 87 weeks ago. One of the house photos had the hashtag firsthouse. Does that mean it was the first house he purchased on his own or the house he'd lived in since he was born? I don't know. Was he on title? No idea. Does he own or rent house in Nashville? I don't know that either. I know here where I'm from you can find out who's on title for $10. I do know (through IG research) that he moved to Nashville before Meghan. Hope that helps.

Yep.  I thought it was a mix of that and possibly a slight dig at Shawn since (besides Jared who wouldn't say a bad thing about anyone out loud) the guys there weren't really fans of him.  

Anyway, I overall liked K as the 'ette, but I still think Shawn and her bring out the worst in each other during the season and that doesn't seem to have changed post-show.

Regardless of who said it or who it was directed at , I still found it kind of tacky. And I don't even necessarily think it necessarily is directed at Shawn as they all did date K on the show but still the joke was still unnecessary in context of this season. Tanner probably gets more leeway than JJ since he is more liked and JJ has tweeted some more questionable things in the past. Anyway, I would not say all the guys did not care for Shawn since he appears to be close to Cupcake and Ben and to a lesser extent, Ben Z. But I do agree that he does not appear to be as close to Tanner but still doubt Tanner was making a dig at him. Imo

I was actually hoping it had been JJ who made the Eskimo Brothers joke as payback for Kaitlyn's joke at the MTA about him being behind Clint. I'm sure we all know what she was insinuating there. Now THAT was tacky.

Not excusing Kait because I agree she should not have made the joke but blame should fall on the show too for creating the storyline of JJ and Clint to begin with and the guys for going along with it to a certain extent. But neither behavior is right IMO

Of course the show and JJ and Clint are to blame for that storyline and Kaitlyn was too happy to make that joke because that's what she does. Then she goes and boohoos about being a victim of cyber-bullying even though much like JJ and Clint, she played right into her storyline as the woman who just wants to get her field plowed like Ian said. Don't anyone ever dare make jokes about her sexual behavior though! Only she can do that! And if you don't like it, you're just being a h@ter and she's going to call you an a$$hole and encourage her followers to say "hi" to you. #spreadlove

This is getting OT, but I think JJ/Clint took things in stride with their storyline for the most part. The show is the gross one, since they presented it in a homophobic and mean-spirited way. I also think K should've been nicer considering they both had her back and stood up for her on the MTA.

But overall, I think K is very sensitive and while I think her oversharing on social media during the season was done with good intentions initially, she didn't realize that she'd be getting a ton of hate too and didn't (and still doesn't) really know how to deal with it. I think if she ignored all of the comments she would have felt much saner/more relaxed during the season.

Yeah...I honestly don't think Kaitlyn is homophobic (one of her best friends is gay, I believe), but that comment was just so awful. Aren't we past the time where calling someone gay as an insult is funny? And, I remember Abby draper saying in her MTA recap that at least another dozen gay jokes were made that didn't make the air, and that's why Clint seemed so pissed at the end.It did seem like JJ didn't have any hard feelings, b/c he was quite complimentary of her in that radio interview he did and he's not really one to sugarcoat things. 

I think it's fascinating how Ben and Jared seem to be able to hang with both "cliques" with no trouble. They are the new sharleen, apparently.

I don't think Kaitlyn is homophobic either and I wasn't even necessarily offended by her joke. I just can't stomach her hypocrisy. Did she really think JJ and Clint weren't being cyber-bullied just like her? It seems like she only cares if it happens to her.

I'm not surprised all the gay jokes were cut at the MTA. The show would've looked mighty hypocritical letting that pass and then making a big deal about Kaitlyn being sl*t-shamed the same night.

Ugh don't even get me started on how homophobic this show is... remember Robert Mills' jokes about Drew?  I think the real problem is TPTB but that does not excuse any of these contestants for their behavior on SM or other venues either.  jhmo
