Once again it's proven that people hear what they want to hear. If you think Nick's an a-hole, then you hear him insult Ashley I. by saying she lacks perspective. I see it as a fact that she does. He was very complementary to her about her self-awareness and ability own who she is. He basically just noted that she doesn't have enough life experience yet. It's a fact that she doesn't.

I listened to that podcast before reading this thread and came away thinking Nick is every bit as intelligent as his fans give him credit for. I've often wondered that, because it's easy to build people up, especially when the people you compare them to are less than bright. But no, he has a very accurate and well-rounded view on everyone IMO. Perceptive and fair. He didn't call anyone stupid. Implied it in various ways yes, but again it's just calling a spade a spade. I've been calling Joshua dumbass ever since that awkward night in SA. I guess I'm cocky too since I know I'm above average intelligence and can tell when other people aren't. You can be both dumb and a sweetheart, so I don't think Nick was contradicting himself there. I also don't think he was calling Joshua ugly, he even said he's handsome. I think his point was that you'd probably see him differently after actually meeting him due to his personality. I get it, because I can't separate looks from personality either. Every year I think someone looks cute in their bio pic and then after watching them on the show for 5 mins, they become totally unattractive to me.

Yes, Nick likes to hear himself talk. Nothing new there. I think that's what JJ meant when he called him self-absorbed in that periscope or whatever it was. It doesn't make him a bad guy though, he just has a lot to say. He's able to shut up and listen as well, so I don't see it as a huge fault. I like listening to his insight and was nodding along from start to finish. I don't think he was mean to anyone, he even seems to appreciate people's faults because they make BIP such great entertainment. I mean none of us are watching it thinking these people are all sweethearts acting totally sane, and if they were, we wouldn't even be watching. So their crazy should be appreciated. I didn't get a malicious vibe from Nick at all at any point.

Eh... considering ABC now has an after show for the sole purpose of snarking on BIP, in wich CH, Jenny Mollen and various celebrity guests insult the cast far worse than Nick ever could, I don't think anything said in the podcast is a problem.

Actually, my point was that Nick was so out of tune with the company line.
To ABC, Joe is evil personified and Joe actually redeemed sleazebag Jonathan.
To Nickie, Joe manipulating and humiliating Jonathan was . . . . wait for it - GLORIOUS - bc Jonathan isnt the sharpest tool so it's alright.

Yet to watch BIP but I listened to the podcast and enjoyed Nick's take on the show and the characters. What I heard was someone who takes the show as what it is, "a show" and found all the antics and dramatics good reality tv show material. Something to be laughed at and enjoyed. I think he will make a good producer for shows like these.

Had to say this was such a great post and you said everything I was thinking.

Based on Nick's podcast commentary skills, I think Nick would be an amazing board member on this forum and I am sure his posts would get tons of likes because many of his opinions have been posted on this forum again and again this season.

He was fairly and accurately calling it like it is, looking at things from both sides/angles, while taking into account that it is just a TV show.
That's a skill to be admired, imo. :Nod:
