I am a high school teacher and this is primarily what the frosh and sophomores do all the time. This weans junior year and almost entirely fades senior year. My own kids have used twitter, primarily for their jobs, and Linkin? They sometimes use FB. I still cannot figure out why Nick liked her so much through her sm with him. Maybe it was all movie quotes and sexual innuendo, but man, oh man, she is a trip. Would not want her in my class- I'd have to take her Ipad, Iphone, and Ipod away.

Maybe they are aiming for their own reality show? I personally think that when they start running out of money they will sign up for other reality shows like Couple's Therapy or Marriage boot camp.

I was actually looking for something else (related to the December trip to Maui - I wanted to see when this upcoming season of DWTS would be over) and about half the links about season 21 had speculations about Kaitlyn being on it - potentially replacing Caitlyn Jenner who appears to have turned it down.

IMO it would be a very smart strategic move for her to do it if offered the chance. Based on the last two (Sean and Chris S) making the top 6 or so when they really couldn't dance, I think Kaitlyn could do very well - the finals (even if she's not that good) or better if she really is good. That would be an excellent resume addition that could really establish her in her own dance studio and provide a nice career for her - doing something she loves to do. Shawn could easily combine a gym or fitness training tie in to a dance studio and IMO they could do very well - probably this would be the best opportunity for both of them.

I am not a SM person with exception of occasionally checking out Twitter so I have not seen any of their snapchats or periscope or IG. I think those two have a fun loving Ying yang connection going that could land them more reality tv opportunities. In the interviews I saw I definitely cracked up. While I would not tune in a reality show of their life (I don't like Kardashian or Real Housewives), I would totally tune in to watch her on dwts or both of them on Amazing Race. Their nonstop sharing on SM could be all about building a fan base that lands their next paycheck.

She really does imo have a personality like Amy Schumer. Amy like Kaitlyn may not be for everyone but I sure enjoy her tv show and movie Trainwreck. And apparently so does a lot of other people who helped her win the box office at $30 million opening weekend.

I don't know or frankly care about marriage plans for those two but they are goofy fun time imo during this post ATFR week. And good news that folks who find them offensive can just not watch. You're just adding clicks...

IMO, it is not a generational thing, it's an attention seeking thing.  

What I wonder is down the road, how these snapchats and periscopes will affect their ability to get jobs or be taken seriously.  And I don't just mean K&S...I mean all that are obsessed with sharing every minute of their lives on SM.  I'm very careful about what forms of SM I use and what I actually do post because it's a reflection of me and my boss and clients can/do/could see it.  I would not have a job if I posted snapchats and periscopes like K&S have been doing.  I'd have been fired and would have a hard time finding other work not only in my field, but across the board in most areas I would be interested in.  As always, JMHO.

I agree. Even though my kids aren't into sm, those who are have a tendency to take it to the extreme. To them, it is "fun" to share.

It definitely is much more prevalent among twenty somethings than it is among fifty somethings.

DWTS would be Kaitlyn 3rd show and a great opportunity , but if Nick gets the Bachelor ( highly doubtful IMO) or any other reality show he's a fame wh***.

IMO I highly doubt that she will be offered the DWTS gig. It was quite obvious that TPTB do not like her and the things she has done. I think they will pull a Juan P on her and punish her with that. I think they have lost a lot of credentials in the public view. The only thing they would be offered would be MBC. They are not allowed to do Amazing Race since they are on a different network and they are still obligated to ABC. The best thing I think they could do for themselves is get real jobs because I do not see many perks coming their way.

I think it will depend on what they want to do. If they want to make their livings off of their personalities, it won't hinder. Think Kardasian. If they decide someday to become lawyers, then it could be a problem. But, honestly, I don't see them taking serious roads like that; I think they are more likely to stay in fields where it won't hurt them. No one cares if their dance instructor for an adult class is a little racy or immature. Same with a personal trainer.

Tough thing, though, to have such a clear trail left behind of who you were at one point in your life. Definitely would make it hard to take a 180. There are reasons my family generally isn't public on social media. While I do have a public Instagram account, I am very careful to limit potentially personal identifying information, and NEVER post selfies.

My daughter is in her twentys and rarely uses SM due to her professional job. Most people these days that are serious about getting a professional job are very careful on what they post. Many companys do look at their SM activity and see what type of person they are.

I do not want K on DWTS for a number of reasons but that would be one way to slow down some of the SM... and drinking...and sex. You can't snapchat and dance at the same time can you?!?

I totally agree with this. If you seek to climb a corporate ladder and work in what is typically a very conservative business to business environment, too much in the public eye is not particularly a good thing. I've been in that environment most of my life - often in hire / fire / promote / demote positions and I would take a relatively dim view of Kaitlyn & to a much lesser extant Shawn. But I would also take a dim view of Nick as well - I'm actually a bit surprised that his company seems to still be supporting him because he represents them to other businesses and two stints or a reality TV show is not the image I would want my company to project.

On the other hand if your career depends on your "brand" which depends on name recognition it's a completely different story. The Kardashians are a good example of a family that has made themselves very wealthy by being very public, very controversial and very risque (Kim got her start from a porn movie with ETA Ray J - thanks for the correction!). Personally I don't see Kaitlyn in a 9-5 corporate ladder position - IMO she'd be bored silly and hate her life and I don't see what she's doing on SM as a deterrent to anything she might find to be a fun and interesting way to earn a living.
JMO
