Just to clear up who said what, Jesse C said (possibly at an earlier time) that typically the leads sleep with the F2 people, Jesse K said that JP has serious jealousy and control issues, Dave said that he thought Ashley had a lot more chemistry with Ben than JP, and Wes said that he thinks JP may be gay. I think that pretty much covers it for the words of wisdom from the "braintrust".

The bolded is why I can't give any credence to anything said by Dave. Anyone watching this show could tell she had more chemistry with JP, I think even most of the Ben fans would agree to that.

I'm sure that's paraphrased... what he actually said was "Ashley make gooder fire Ben"

I have been catching up on all the news on this thread today. After reading all of it, I have a few thoughts.

First, I am not surprised at some of the negative stuff in the tabloids. This is what they do. I was talking about this season with my hairdresser on Saturday and it's interesting to listen to the perspective of someone who hasn't been spoiled at all. She totally believed the story about JP being a player and just pretending to fall for Ashley. I told her that she shouldn't believe what she reads. Then I told her some of the spoiler info we have known here for a while. She was really surprised to hear what was really going on. However, she still said that it will last maybe six months. I just shook my head and told her - you'll see.

There is no use trying to tell people the truth when they want to believe the more salacious stuff. The tabloids said that Ashley slept with Bentley, for heaven's sake! He wasn't there long enough for anything to happen. So you just take it with a grain of salt and wait for it all to blow over. As long as JP and Ashley know the truth and are committed to each other and their relationship, that is what's important. They have been tested as they watched the season play out on tv and now they will be tested again. They seem to be focused, determined and head over heels in love. Once they have moved in together and are out of the spotlight and can work on their life together, then they will be okay.

As far as what happened at the FRC, I believe that Ben went there with the intention of proposing. He didn't have any doubts and believed that Ashley would accept his proposal. It is revealing that Ashley S. said that Ashley wanted to let Ben go earlier. I had a strong feeling that TPTB wanted this particular ending. They may well have told Ashley that Ben needed to propose and be rejected in order to be the next Bachelor. I am sure that Ashley wishes she handled it better and maybe she was trying to make it up to Ben in her blog. It was not easy to watch Ben get down on one knee and go through the whole proposal. I don't care if it's my personal favorite or not. It makes no difference. I didn't like it when Jason got down on one knee or anyone else. But it is what it is with this show. They will get the ending they want. That story about Ashley sleeping with Ben on the FD or whenever, is pure nonsense. No way would Ashley risk her relationship with JP. Not when she was so careful every step of the way on this journey.

I had this feeling that TPTB wanted their story to be how Ben came on strong at the end to possibly overtake JP. The first hour of the FRC was all about getting the viewers to believe that Ashley would change her mind after her sister's disapproval and seeing how much she liked Ben. They set it all out there for everyone to think that Ben would be the one in a surprise ending. In order to pull it off, they needed Ben to propose at the FRC. I don't know what they may have said to Ben, but it seemed to me that he was going to propose no matter what. Ashley would have had to physically grab him and tell him to stop. I don't know that she was able to do that. There is coercion, manipulation and TPTB get what they want. So I am not about assigning blame or rehashing it all.

It makes sense that Ashley already told JP she loved him. He didn't look surprised when she said it, as though he was finally hearing it for the first time. He looked happy as hell, but he knew before he proposed. It was still beautiful to see. I think if they stay strong and keep it real, these two have a good chance to make it. I will be rooting for them all the way!

As far as what the likes of Wes, Jessie K. and Dave Good had to say, my response is - take it from where it comes, consider the source! These three guys won't find the kind of love that JP has with Ashley. I do think that they are filled with their own jealousy and envy. You have to get chills down your spine when you see the intensity and passion between JP and Ashley. The pictures and their actions say it all.

To JP and Ashley - don't let the bastards get you down! Hang in there and enjoy each other! :D

They did switch it up a little this time, in that , as I recall, the lead usually does the first talking. In other words, Ashley would have told Ben how much she cares about him, how wonderful he is, how lucky anyone would be to be married to him, BUT......... and she would tell JP how much she loves him and what she wants for their future, etc, and then both guys would have the opportunity to say what they wanted with the rejection and with proposal. This time it was obvious that the guys were told to talk first and go ahead and propose. They were trying to make it a suspense until the bitter end, I guess for all of the blind people in the viewing audience that couldn't see how much in love Ashley and JP are. Even with JP's little spiel, it was worded so that it made it seem that he was going to say he couldn't propose. He said something about having doubts or something like that (I haven't watched it nearly enough to have it memorized !) Then he says, at some point you need to take a leap of faith. TPTB were trying everything they could to cast some doubt on the ending.

I don't think that anything that anyone says at this point could break this couple up. They have done such a good job of laying a solid foundation and have handled the adversity perfectly. If JP smiles anymore, his face is going to crack! He is one happy camper. That couldn't be any more evident.

The first 2 seasons of The Bachelorette, the lead spoke first at FRC, so Charlie and Matt didn't have the opportunity to propose because Trista and Meredith had already told them it wasn't them. In that sense, it followed the format of The Bachelor. In Jen's season, she got two proposals, so, although I don't really remember it, they must have let the guys speak first. I think once that happened, the idea was born that it would be much more dramatic and outrageous to get 2 proposals and at least one turndown, so in every season since, with the exception of Ali (because she had already sent Chris home before the LCD), that has happened, and the guys have always spoken first, in order to facilitate that likelihood. The only guy who has gone to FRC and not proposed in those seasons, I believe, was Kiptyn, and I suspect he was only spared intense pressure from the producers, because they already knew they had Reid coming back for their second proposal.

Thinking about this, I don't know why people are so shocked that Ashley got 2 proposals, because with the exception of the last Bach'ette season, that has become the norm. It's so obvious that it's the producers' intent, and not the lead's. But I guess some viewers just refuse to believe it.

Dave, Wes and Kovacs...are #1 in my book on having every single quality that I despise in a man. Good job guys. You win the prize in a three way tie. Jesse C. gets the second place trophy all to himself. Sorriest excuse for men, and I use the term "men" for lack of a term that I can in good conscience post on the board. So pathetic.

About the tabloids...Chris warned Ashley and JP about them and they knew it was coming. Ashley and JP have built a relationship based on open, honest communication. They are way beyond allowing what "unidentified sources" say affect their relationship. I am disappointed, however, at People. I was so excited to go out and buy this week's issue and now...no thank you.
