I don't think there has to be a 'simplest reason' here. His reasons for doing the show again probably aren't that different from the rest of the guys who wanted Kaitlyn as Bette. They liked her, they wanted to travel, and the thought of being on TV seemed cool. I think he secretly relished in being 'that guy' last year. IMO N&K had nothing of substance prior to filming, unless you consider possibly sexting and having a flirtmance something of substance.

Sorry Blu. I don't agree they had nothing. Kaitlyn herself said that Nick was her "go to guy" for advice and that they were as close as could be never having met in person. That sounds like something to me.

But do you think being the no.1 hated reality show contestant looked cool so he gotta leave his job again and come back?
And what about his family, his mother was clearly heartbroken about how the show wrongly portrayed his son.
I think Nick has to be like MeAndi, that is mean and stone cold and love fame that much, to be on it again only for the traveling and air time.

Substance or not, Nick is a hopeless romantic, he risks everything for his potential love.
This is Nick, like him or not.

They had never even met until he showed up, so I stand by my impression that what they had was a flirtmance. I think it was mostly just a sexual attraction and in real life would've resulted in no more than a hook up, which it kinda did on the show too.

He probably had a better chance just waiting for her engagement to fizzle.

I know some say her hair is darker, but I'm not sure it doesn't still look longer on that pillow. I know Emily gushed over Arie during media rounds. Chris didn't exactly look giddy during media rounds when discussing Whit...IMO. I knew who Brad chose..., he would not have made it to ATFR if he even dare suggest it could be Chantal. If Nick wasn't easy to follow as in his location, I would still easily be on the fence. (Hiding under chair)

I think Nick is a pickup artist too, feeling her up at the bar was beyond the pale, and she was just BEYOND dumb to fall for if. Kaitlyn, please, no decent man is trying to have sex with you in the middle of a bar, come on. But whatever, she figured it out at the end so that's all that matters. Jmo.

I think Nick was responding to what Kaitlyn wanted. He never acted like that with Andi. But Kaitlyn at the beginning of the date told him she wore the shirt so he could touch her. He gave her what she wanted. Doesn't Lucas say guys act like guys. Well if the woman opens the invitation then why not go for it? To me Kaitlyn was the leader all day, Nick looked to her for the cues and very happily followed them. I maintain that Nick was an itch that Kaitlyn wanted to scratch before she got engaged.

This!  I also wonder if Nick wanted to be "lust" guy or I guess I should say TPTB wanted him to play that role and he agreed.    

Just trying to make sense of it, it seems to me that this might possibly be what happened:
-They still 'owned' Nick by holding that $5 million mistake over him;
-Kaitlyn was into Shawn right away and with her no holds barred attitude, she let him know it.
-Being the assertive man he is, Shawn let the other guys know that they had fallen for each other and subtly had them back off, at least to the extent they could and still play along with tptb;
-Tptb realized it and had to salvage the season, so they brought Nick in to shake things up (the chemistry looked real, but I'm not naive enough to not know it might have all been a big seduction. Nick fans will say he would never play along with that, but we can't know what a person might do in this situation. If they said 'just have fun, do what comes natural, but turn on the charm and let her know she's a woman.)
-Maybe tptb knew Kaitlyn enough to foretell what she would do, or maybe they just lucked out big time, but tah-dah, season saved.

Good post. I have thought of that too. We know that Nick was hanging out with producers in LA while the beginning of Chris' season.  I even saw a tweet from someone saying that his parents knew Nicks' family and that TPTb were trying to get him back on the show. It seemed after that trip, Nicks tweets about K increased too.  I just found it odd that some of those flirty tweets were done so publicly on SM.  It seemed kind of like he wanted to see he was flirting with someone on SM when he could have done it privately .  It seems almost like those tweets and overt support for Kait as bachelorette set the storyboard for the season.  

Nick's mom was very hurt last year, so I think he either thought Kaitlyn could be the one or that producers had the threat of lawsuit to make him play along. Either way, the truth is that he again is making what would have been a boring we all know the ending season more exciting. But, Nick actually wanted Britt to be the bachelorette, if you read his SM he was for anyone but Kaitlyn. I think he would have enjoyed meeting her IRL and I think they would have fizzled out there too. Laughing is great but sometimes you need an actual conversation too. I don't think Kaitlyn and Nick would have gotten much past the initial chemistry.

I guess I feel, Snapchat gate is setting people up for a whole lot of surprises to come ..as in Shawn's behavior. I loved their first 1/1 but its a distant memory almost now. If he's F1, I hope I don't have to wait to FRC to see why!

I have a feeling he will have a great HTD and the most romantic FS, so I doubt you will have to wait. They have to start giving them something after they have him have his visits to her to let her know to get in line twice in one episode.

I completely get your hesitancy to post this, but I have the same underlying thoughts.  It is probably my overactive imagination combined with my hopeless desire to see Nick happy.  And of course completely crazy... :Nod:

It is very unlikely, but she could have posted it as a misdirect.  In this alternate reality, the snapchat would serve as a distraction to balance the very obvious chemistry we see on screen.  Because without the snapchat, we would all be calling the ending N and K.  She would be downplaying their relationship in the media to go along with the spoiler.  

My question still goes a back to this though: Why would Kaitlyn need to post snapchat if there was already a pretty good spoiler in the media that she picks no one.  IMO she wouldn't need to.  It doesn't make much sense.  Also, after Kaitlyn spent time with Andi there a few red flags to me.  First Andi posted her first slightly supportive post about K and N.  She said that she could maybe be supportive of N and K if they were in love.  Andi also posted about snapchat and learning from the "queen"...saying that things can be saved.  These things were posted to cast doubt on the snapchat IMO.  Why would Andi cast doubt on the snapchat if Kaitlyn posted it on purpose?

Just thoughts... But, I too let my mind wander to what an "amazing" show we would be in store for if all the spoilers we have gotten so far were all wrong.
