It was a lot of fun to watch and guess what would happen. My observation is that, after a couple of seasons of trying to fool RS and everyone else Fleiss finally figured that the best approach would be to show a true love story develop before the viewers eyes. Of course he needed a few "drama queens" to spice up the show but it was pretty obvious from week 3 or 4 that JP was the one.
Will the love story have a happy ending (eg marriage)? Who knows. But right now we are enjoying the show and rooting for them to live happily ever after.
One question for the group- did anyone hear any discussion of the religion issue since JP is Jewish and Ashley is , I presume, Christian?
You were missed, my friend! I would have loved to hear your thoughts as you and your wife were watching the show.
I doubt that we will ever hear as serious a subject discussed as religion (or politics) on this show.
As with so many things, there is the story told, and there is the story itself.

I've always been under the assumption that the 'contestants' don't get to spend time alone with their families during the HTDs. I know that is true concerning the time before the date, maybe they get to afterwards. JP told Ashley he talked to his parents and his dad said Ash would fit into the family. Did they allow JP to hang back and talk to his family?

Ashley talked about the religious differences in her blog. She said religion didn't matter to her. She said she the most worried with JP's parents because she was not Jewish. She said they were really nice about it and totally fine and she was very relieved. So I am assuming it was brought up just not on camera.

I think Blondie meant that any discussion of religion or politics would never be shown to the audience during the episode, even if it was discussed during the HTD.

I think JP did allude to the fact that he had a bit of time to confer with his family after Ashley left (or maybe when she was in the bathroom?) and found out they all adored her, which he told Ashley. I imagine once the lead leaves the families' homes, the guys have at least a few moments to chat alone with their folks and get some initial feedback from them while the crew/producers are occupied with other things.

JP probably had a bit of time with his family in the time between when Ashley left and his limo came to pick him up.

This sounds very logical. I guess JP's family loved Ashley and her religion (or lack of religion) didn't bother them, so it isn't an issue. I often ask about these things because I am Jewish and I married a beautiful Catholic girl who was adored by my parents. We now have a son who is an orthodox Rabbi! Go figure!

Re: Episode 9 - 7/25 Fantasy dates - Discussion - Spoilers
I know Ashley has said that religion doesn't matter to her, but I wonder if that is a problem for her sister and why she isn't "for" JP. I say this because of the comment that was left in the edit that JP made after beating Mickey "the Jew from Long Island", and also the comments that Ashley made in her blog about Constantine, being Greek Orthodox, and JP family accepting her because she was not Jewish. I'm sure we would never see that topic being discussed with her family, but I find it odd that those comments were left in this season.

I think Ashley was looking at all factors and sometimes religion is. JP didn't appear to have an issue with her religious background. Constantine was probably just looking for an excuse. I'm going back to his initial comments to her on their first date regarding him finding ways to get out of relationships to avoid being hurt. He was so not ready for anything but fun and games and he had that. Blake called him a "gamer" when he went on his date with Ashley. She kept him around because he was cute and non-threatening (i.e. didn't even hold her hand). Not all leads can be in intense relationships with 3 guys at the same time - especially when there is one that you are beyond attracted to.
