^^ what you mentioned Jojo is exactly why I'm appalled that they're softening Nick's image via US weekly which is their prime media spot where they do leaks (see the BIP leak on the side of the US weekly article)
it's irrelevant to them whether someone is a villain for them to loose or win -- last season Nick was a villain and he lost and so many viewers relished it. Courtney and vienna were villains and they won and it brought drama and some of the highest ratings this show has ever seen (esp Jake & Vienna). they're already throwing K's edit under the bus... why the heck are they cleaning up Nick's?!?! ...it's really not computing for me
and so sorry if I sound like a parrot/broken record...
but i'm just sitting here blinking going
"the heckkk...?" tptb volunarily and proactively being nice to villains that draw ratings gold??? I also don't get why they'd do it to throw K under the bus -- she's already hurting so many amazing guys there's no need to add a former-villian with a spotty reputation (at best) into the mix to elevate the drama
i don't wanna think too much about it but if anyone has any ideas -- you know where to reach me sitting blinking and confused

I so badly want Dr Chris to be the next Bachelor, but he has too much competition this season, don't think it will happen.
I agree on the too much competition this is the best F5 ever imho!! so exciting wish they'd just do a ton of blooper reels of these guys hanging out in the mansion -- would looove that there's way too little of that yummy goodness now on the show.. we get only smidgens of shawn, ben h , jared, dr. c....

Emusha, I am with you. It doesn't compute why they are cleaning up Nick's image.
....He's being painted as going on the show for the "right reasons" by the lead herself.
....Then again, it doesn't compute why Nick was SM active while filming on the show (even RS is confused about Nick and how he was given special treatment).
Does Nick have something on TPTB? Did they want him that badly for ratings, despite all the villains (b/c people are saying this season is boring).
Do TPTB want to burn K that badly so that they will rather clean up Nick's image and Shawn get a good edit so they get a next-Bach out of the Bette show?
One does have to go on The Bachelorette in order to be a candidate for next Bach lead... so that's my only option. Does anyone know when TPTB renews the next season for The Bette show?

We started a general spoiler thread for Celebrity Family Feud in the "other reality shows" section, if anyone wants to discuss that show. Enjoy.

IA that without knowing the spoiler, it seems like they are making a case for Nick being F1 and Kaitlyn "risking it all for Nick" with her "unspoken connection" that she just "couldn't forget about" and that he is on the show for the "right reasons" and Kaitlyn felt their instant chemistry could be something that "lasts a lifetime", etc, etc...Cecilia wrote:I hate being spoiled! If I read this article unspoiled I would think she definitely picks Nick.
Maybe they are intentionally wanting it to look like she picks Nick and then, wham!, he gets the same treatment as last season. Not sure how this is, to use Kaitlyn's words, "refreshing"?

OK, once I'm in the mood to contemplate and "imagine the scenarios" I can't pretend not to be interested and you all are making it so much more fun ... so I'll try to give my 2c:
the 1st media round (pre-season) was about making the hype, opening discussion about sexism and equality, feminism and the franchise portray of the women. Kait and Britt answered questions about their desires and important qualities that their men should have, marketing themselves and establishing grounds for being the lead,
the 2nd media round (opening) after the announcement of Kaitlyn as tBette, was to give her a chance to explain (win people over and smooth the reaction) herself, about the "twisted" preview (very good cut and trim edit), sex comments (it always sells, for pleasure or shock value), chance to demonstrate her character, show her stand (POV) and giving a "viable" reason why Nick would become part of the season, answering question Why ...he's back?
- I was wondering if her "positive promotion" of Nick's right intentions was simply because of the compassionate and unfortunate ending if despite it all she didn't choose him, since they were friends (and might still be).
the 3rd media round (mid season) is about ... How can she like him? (after everyone should be against him for what he said, implied or represented) How come she let him in ... and most of all... How can he get a second chance?
- it leaves the impression he just might be the One, unless the "moth got too close to the flame and got burned" ... or like Icarus tale, too fast (high) and too soon might leave her without the wings... this scoop article almost alludes at the ending.
and then we have to wait for the 4th round of media (closing season) ... with the question What ... will happen?... when the media will try to "give us spoilers" ... but there were things said about the ending (if anything can be taken in the consideration): "refreshing", "full Mesnick" and "the way it should". (Really? - Again?)
So what went wrong ... or perfectly right ... for creating the ending spoilers unexpected (since mid season is an obvious give-away), twist & turns with lots of tears and potential "happy outcome" (as always)?

That "show insider" is clearly Chris Harrison. Here's a gem from his romance novel: "Over Joseph's left shoulder, in a cluster of wisteria, a moth flew into the lantern, caught its wings on the flame, and lit itself on fire." And no, I didn't read it, just a funny review.

I don't see a magazine article as indication that TPTB are cleaning up Nick's image. It's just the same kind of article we see every season. The only real change is done by editing imo and that's yet to be seen.
Neither Shawn or Nick seem to be on SM right now so need a sighting this weekend unless Kaitlyn isn't having a SHV. Still not sure about the spoilers but would love to prove RS wrong.

happygolucky - really interesting speculation and probably right. I would categorize the media rounds slightly differently though...
Round 1 - defending their misogynist behavior and setting up Britt=nice and pure and Kaitlyn=slutty 'just for fun' girl.
Round 2 - cementing Kaitlyn as the 'villian' of her own story and TPTB as the misogynist they are, and sl*t shaming for show hype.
Round 3 - starting to put the next potential leads out there as the good guys they are and the victims of foolish Kaitlyn who just can't help herself and will 'betray' them.
Round 4 - my guess is that it will focus on setting up the next lead and how hurt and righteous they are...they really had a 'deep connection' and were 'heart broken', but Kaitlyn is her own worst enemy who betrayed everyone (the love at first sight guy with the 'deep connection' and the one that fought for her and was there for 'the right reasons').
IMO, I don't think the US Magazine article changes anything and it didn't surprise me. IF (and I think that's a big IF) Nick gets a redeeming story line it's not because he is a potential next lead or because TPTB are helping a friend out or because they want to set up the happy couple at the end. It's to amplify her as the ultimate villian and fool.
This hot-mess of a season is entirely TPTB driven and they are getting exactly what they wanted. They didn't have to start with 2 bachelorettes, they didn't have to release a season preview with the sex scandal, they didn't have to bring Nick on. They don't have to, and I don't think they want to, explain/justify any of that through the media. They went out of their way (and apparently found a willing fool in Kaitlyn) to set up the context for all of it. I personally think they are just selling their season story board in the media rounds.
