It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for - reality lovebirds Art Green and Matilda Rice are engaged!

After finding true love on the debut season of The Bachelor New Zealand, the lovebirds have finally made things official, with 29-year-old paleo foods business owner Art popping the question on a romantic getaway in Rarotonga.

Sharing their special news exclusively with Woman’s Day, bride-to-be Matilda, 26, says she couldn’t be happier to marry the man of her dreams.

“I’m over the bloody moon – I didn’t know I could even feel this happy. I just want to scream it from the rooftops,” says the blonde beauty.



An item for over two years, the couple first met on Three’s reality-romance series in 2015. Bubbly fan favourite Matilda walked away with Art’s final rose, and despite persistent rumours their relationship away from the cameras was all a sham, went from strength to strength.

“From the very start I liked Matilda … Matilda is and was always the girl for me,” reveals Art.

The fitness junkie may have been loved up for more than two years now, but he says he’ll always be grateful to The Bachelor for bringing him and Matilda together.



With a combined Instagram following of more than 212,000 fans, the genetically-blessed power couple – who are launching a top-secret joint business venture next month – regularly post updates about their glamorous life together, including sweet selfies, couple’s workouts and overseas holidays. And now they’re adding wedding planning to their busy schedules.

I think Three would love to do a tv wedding for the golden couple but I don't think Art and Matty would want it that way. Even though pretty much everything they do on SM is sponsored in some way (even if it doesn't look like it) I think they will likely want a more private wedding. I for one would LOVE it if they had tv wedding and get to watch their entire love story

This answers the wedding question... seems like it will be more private (or at least not on tv). So sad I can't watch it on tv but super happy they are doing it their way as they always have - although I won't be surprised if they do let fans in on some of the planning along the way. I bet companies are already offering free things for it and sponsorships!

I love that Art got down on one knee when proposing and it was last week! If it was anything as romantic as his FRC speech to Matilda I bet Matilda was in tears then too and so happy. Love these two  

Three years after The Bachelor NZ's Art Green and Matilda Rice took their first romantic holiday away as a couple in Rarotonga, they returned to the island, and this time there was a ring.

Woman's Day reports that Green proposed on a white-sand beach in the Cook Islands a week ago, even getting down on one knee.

"We'd had the most perfect day and to top it all off, we were on the beach in the most beautiful location," Rice told the women's magazine.
The ring, made by a cousin of Green's, is platinum-silver with a cushion cut diamond and small soft-pink sapphires.

The pair are now focusing on planning their wedding, which Green says will be "reasonably chilled and nothing too extravagant".
