That body language article is a crock! I studied psychology at University and everyone knows that the majority of gestures are ambiguous. They can mean many things. For example; if I cross my arms it could signal that I am being defensive or it could mean that I am cold! Art and Matilda were in an un-natural environment (i.e a studio with reporters and lights, microphones and cameras pointed at them) and what we were seeing was not their natural "true and honest" reactions. The expert should only comment of them in their "natural" state. Yes they spoke openly and honestly but they were answering questions with measure and not in easy conversation. This is PSYC 101! The Herald just want their headline and to get their piece of the Bachelor pie since they aren't part of the Mediaworks family and weren't invited to the party.

Absolutely spot on. Not only that, but the best analyses on body language is when one has a baseline to draw comparison from (i.e., their natural state like you said, Katiebelle). In this case, the body language expert is merely drawing conclusions without that baseline of understanding either of these two individual's natural body behavior and then coupled with obligatory and contractual interviews? If they don't work out, it's not because of this so-called expert's opinion (although they will be sure to give some credit there for sure). Couples that may have healthy and intimate body language determined by experts divorce every day.Katiebelle wrote:That body language article is a crock! Thank you so much for recapping this Katiebelle!Katiebelle wrote:I finally sat down and read some of the articles in Woman's Day. There's pretty much an article on all the main players so will recap in lots.
First off - Art and Matilda's first public date was at Odettes and not very private. They were joined by the Woman's day editor and two competition winners. The editor said they were very welcoming and that Art blushed when he said he was stoked that it was their first public date. She said they were very down to earth and lovely in real life.
Main article
- recently had family dinner and were excited they were able to travel in same car
- acting like undercover agents for 8 weeks was "exciting because it felt very special to us, on the other hand, it was frustrating because all I wanted to do was show Matilda off"
- had 3 secret date locations on rotation- her mums boat, his uncles house and his Granddads apartment.
- intense one on one time had been so good. "I've got to know Art in a way I didn't get the opportunity to on the show. We've spent hours lying in bed just chatting and laughing."
- they text and snapchat all day. They have pornstar names for each other on their phones. He's Ozzie Tinakori and she's Shawnti.
- moment of truth! - "if I'm honest, from the very start, I liked Matilda a lot and in the back of my head, I think I knew it was always going to be her." ......." When I finally made the decision , it was more a self-realisation that Matilda is and was always the girl for me. It was staring me in the face the entire time," (Wow - there you have it! Just like we all guessed)
- the pair are optimistic that their connection will grow stronger "every time I see Matilda I'm more into her"
- neither have dropped the "l" word. "We've talked about it. We'll say it when we truly, truly mean it" says Matilda.
Well that was a quick rundown. There was other stuff we have all heard before. Will try and recap the other articles soon.
I think they are just a young couple in the first stages of their relationship. I think they are very sensible taking it step by step and not rushing into anything too quickly. I also like the fact that they are saying they are zero f##ks given. Probably the only way to go with all the interest in them. They are young and have all the time in the world to let their relationship develop. They need to see how they are in the real world - not the bachelor world or the secret dating world they have been in for the last 8 weeks. If it works out with them then that's great and if it doesn't - well the gave it a shot and provided us viewers with a lovely story.
That is too sweet that Art blushed! He always was blushing around Matilda. So glad that Art keeps reinforcing that he knew she was the one in his post-show interviews. Also nice to hear that they were with family the night of ATFR aired. That's really good news that they were together when the show was on and with family since Art said that is most important to him, having that support. Like you said, they seem to be willing to work at it and have a good approach to wanting a relationship together. Hopefully the media will die down a bit so they can have some normalcy.
katiebelle, will you be watching Jono and Ben show later tonight? Not sure if it is tonight or next week, but Matilda and Art were recording in the studio yesterday NZ time. They usually post their videos online after they air so if Matilda and Art are on it will be interesting to hear what they say.

AAL - I will be popping out to pick up my son half way through the Jono and Ben show. If I don't get to see the interview by then I'll just TV3 On Demand it later. Jono and Ben are known to be risqué so it should be a good interview. Guy Williams (the man who measured their heads at the radio station) is also a host of the show. MediaWorks in general tend to have younger and more "out there" presenters (because they are targeting a younger audience) hence the more offbeat and less traditional interviews we are seeing.

The Jono and Ben interview was short but brilliant.
They played a game where they had to say what the bleeped out word was in the sentence the other said on the Bachelor.
They were then asked if either had any annoying habits and Art mentioned the sleep talking again and says it wakes him up.
Then Jono and Ben mention Matilda's ability to rap all of Tupac's Changes. They convinced her to perform for everyone with the show band and she's amazing! She is such a confident young woman. They were all very impressed and Art jumped up and gave her a hug.
I'm sure there was something else but I can't remember and it isn't on Demand yet. It's definitely worth a watch so if someone could link it that would be great.
They both looked tired especially Art. They have had such a busy week and I can imagine that they are looking forward to some down time.

Thanks Katiebelle for the updates. I have downloaded the app for Woman's day from App Store and bought a copy, but it won't install. It crashes!
Perhaps I'm too far away, living on the other side of the globe. Or the topic in this issue is too hot.
I just watched Jono and Ben OD. I don't know what I would do without hola.
The show was so much fun. The sketch with the Tinder dates was hilarious.
Great to see our cute couple. They laughed so much. I did some screen caps. The last one with Art, is when Matilda is rapping. I think he looks proud and I do understand why he said that he "won".

Watched Art and Matilda on Jono and Ben. Very funny, especially the part of Matilda's Haiku. Art is so cute when he is blushing when Jono and Ben talk about Matilda and putting her head down and the part of the Haiku He really adores her. When Matilda is going to get up to rap and after Jono and Ben say who wants to see her rap, Art says, "Yes! Yes! We all want to see it!" and then when she walks past him he says "You've got this!" IA that he is super proud and he looks in awe of her confidence when she is rapping.

Matty is really unfortunate when it comes to animals apparently, but maybe that brings good luck in double takes, tripling.from the article above wrote:nzgirl: And what about your thing with animals (to Matilda)?
Matilda: Yeah, all of the animals. It just happens to me, it really does. I bought five coffees the other day and I walked outside and a bird shat on three of them.
good one.from the article wrote:nzgirl: Do you have any holidays planned yet?
Cue blank stares and Art and Matilda look at the publicists….we’re suspicious
Matilda: Ummmmmmmm. We’re hoping to
Art: get away
Matilda: soon

Re: Art & Matilda Green - Bachelor New Zealand - Season 1 - Fan Forum
Just a few random thoughts regarding the last couple of media posts...hopefully, these aren't observations from looking through rose colored glasses. Regardless, this is how I saw it...
First with respect to the Jono & Ben clip, I found it funny after Matilda was done rapping that the guy from the show ran over to give her a big hug. Shortly thereafter, Art got up and did the same. It seemed like a possessive move to me...perhaps not, but that's how I interpreted it. Kind of like, "Hey, she's mine."...as well as being proud of her.
Then, I watched all the IG clips from the nzgirl interview from above. Boy, did Art seem sooo done with it all! The only time I saw him perk up was when he interacted with Matilda. He definitely seems smitten.

ITA with your observations Litta.
Art didn't seem pleased either when the guy who ran up to Matilda after her rap was talking earlier about Matilda getting to kiss other guys now. I see it as possessive as well. He wants to "show her off" as he said in Woman's Day concerning him and Matilda as Katiebelle posted.
And then Matilda brought up how she was asked out on a date/drink and didn't know how to respond to that since she was with Art. It was a cute way for Matilda to say hey, I am still the prize that Art himself said he "won".
From the beginning I thought Art was a bit in awe of Matilda -- that she looked the way she did and yet was a dork like him and the dork he wanted in a partner. I recall when she was about to say her Haiku and said to Art, "There's something I haven't told you yet" and his facial expression was absolute dejection like he was preparing himself for the worst (that she had a boyfriend or something, ). He was gleeful and blushing when she did tell him her Haiku poem and he blushed again when they "beep" the rose part out so it was "Give me a *beep* now!" hahaha. So funny!
Another thing from the nzgirl interview that is interesting is how he said he was glad that the public liked Matilda and she had support. I think in some way it must have been also eye-opening to him to realize that so many liked her (including the Prime Minister) and thus he would have competition for her.
What makes me think they have something very rare is that Art said at ATFR that his level of communication with Matilda is unlike any other person in his life (including his sister). That's quite a huge thing to say about someone Art has only known for 4+ months and barely even spent that much time with. They seem to be just very comfortable with each other and the only discomfort I see is when Art or Matilda are talking about the past (that is, the show, etc.) which they clearly are bored with and want to move on from.
Definitely have a good feeling about those two. They seem much more happier as well since it is all public and said that it is getting better and better. Art just seemed so proud and amazed at Matilda rapping on national television. He said his ideal woman is someone who is completely herself, doesn't take herself seriously, has a good sense of humor, is just fun to be around, and has confidence. That's Matilda to a T.
