Does seem strange. The other guys could easily travel without being recognized but I have to think A LOT of people recognize Nick.  Maybe TPTB made him wear a disguise? Although they've been so public with the season, don't see why they would need to hide him.

I don't know that the general public (unspoiled) would necessarily think Nick's filming the Bachelorette again. But I don't think tptb really care, either. I'm thinking that they've gotten to the point that all they really care about is keeping the ending from RS since that's all he really cares about- and they do that with varying degrees of success.

My source came through once again!
I heard Nick was forced to travel in the baggage compartment with the luggage. Because of Nick's last airplane saga, Elan was assigned to make sure Nick would be kept in line. 
The problem is the airlines took one look at Elan and did not consider him human with all that hair and deemed it imperative he be boarded with the other pets in baggage. Nick had no choice, but to accompany Elan in baggage. Thus, no one recognized either Nick or Elan during the transcontinental flight.  If not for Kaitlyn's influence the two would have been forced to be crated, as it was they could at least lounge comfortably.

Bahahaha - I hope they had a bag of Cheetos to share!
