Nick Viall - Bachelorette 11 - *Spoilers - Sleuthing* - Discussion

I kind of alluded to this at the crack of dawn but I have had more time to think about it today. Here's what I hope happens on episode 4 (or wherever they are at with filming) ...

- We see Nick and Sharleen talking about how Nick has a "crush" on Kaitlyn
- We see Nick and Sharleen (and Ashley1) watching the date with Nick debating whether he makes a move. He's trying to gauge whether she looks happy or in love.
- We see Nick surprising Kaitlyn and maybe saying he wanted to see for himself whether she was the Bachelorette or if Britt was picked.
- We see Nick telling Kaitlyn about his crush and she is speechless, not sure what to do.
- We see Nick recognizing her hesitancy and asks Kaitlyn to keep in the back of her mind that if things don't work out with anyone to call him because he thinks they could be really good together
- We see Nick swooping in for one of his sexual kisses that leaves Kaitlyn breathless
- We see Nick walk away into the night and Kaitlyn wondering what to do
- We see Kaitlyn carry on with her journey but a few scenes of her wondering about Nick (add some drama/mystery on whether he will return)

AND ... if Kaitlyn does not fall in love with any of the contestants ... we could see Kaitlyn ask for Nick to return

For all of you who think this show is super scripted and Nick's return is not some grand romantic gesture, here are some options to consider. Is his return:

1) Contractual ... he accidently (or was it??) spoiled last year's season with ABC and as his final obligation to ABC "tricky Nicky" had to make an appearance this season on an episode.

2) About money ... his buddy Elan calls and says, "Hey pal, we are trying to boost ratings for the Bachelorette by adding more drama this season. How about you, Sharleen and Ashley I make an appearance on episode 4?" Since Nick is such a great sales guy, he said, "sure, for the right price and I'll also flirt with her on Twitter pre-show to make folks think I have a crush."

3) BIP2 ... could Nick and Ashley 1 be headed for the islands of BIP2 right after Bachelorette and they wanted to give both some extra airtime? Since Sharleen is local, they invited her as well to join them (as I don't think she'd go on being newly engaged) and she agreed for the exposure for her career. That's what Chris B did before joining BIP1.

That's all I got. Any thoughts??

I prefer your romantic version  however will respond here because I have a number 4.

4) Kaitlyn and Nick have never meet because TPTB made sure that wouldn't happen.  

Forum sleuthers were aware that Nick's interest in K. was gaining momentum and that she was guilty of a wee bit of flirt back.  TPTB would surely notice that as well and Nick was their ratings star last season.  They knew it.  They even made ATFR largely the "Nick Show".  He was a polarizing winfall in a season that likely would have faired even poorer had he and his edit not kept the buzz going week after week. 
Nick was in LA twice.  There are pics of him with Elan, and also 2 female producers.  Perhaps he inquired as to how meet Kaitlyn once she was done with Bachelor.  Hmmm, how better to lure the previous ratings star back in play than to make Kaitlyn the Bette.  "If you want her, come get her...on camera.  Your choice."
The Bachelorette viewership has progressively been on the downside.  Now we have the beloved, by most, Kaitlyn who should up ratings somewhat plus misunderstood Britt for additional viewers AND the prospect of tenacious notorious salty Nick.

It did occur to me the last Bach season how Whitney and Nick have some things in common (kudos to both) ... so I'll go with the romantic version of the crush ... but very exploited by TPTB for all the commercial reasons you've stated.

I like your post SDmom. I believe Nick likes some attention - he did state that in his imaginary life, he would like to be a rock-star, feeding of the energy of the crowd - but he isn't willing to compromise himself for the sake of it. He "makes appearances" when he has something to say (whether to prove, explain, bring to light of discussion, help the change, raise awareness,...) ... otherwise he lives his daily professional life on his own merit and competence (know-how). And I applaud his confidence, to not be shaken because of the opinion of people who comment (online or else) and as

I like it MVMom, I really like it.  

Only, if Kaitlyn kisses Nick or lets him kiss her, I don’t think she’s going to spend a lot of time or energy stressing about whether to bring him on the show… she’s already made her decision by virtue of the act of kissing him, right?  I also think it’s early enough in the show that her decision to ask him to join wouldn’t be predicated on whether she’s falling in love with any other contestants, because she likely wouldn’t be there yet….

But I will be interested to see whether and how N&K discuss their expectations and concerns about the format of the show … that there are no guarantees, that the show format can be misleading, etc… And I will definitely be interested to see how that conversation develops particularly if Nick makes it to FDs…  I am sure that given their Bach pasts, neither Kaitlyn or Nick would go into that evening without making their feelings and intentions perfectly clear, right?… Right??

Also, you're a better person than me to be able to compile the anti-romantic, scripted list for doubters .... The romantic in me just can’t go there!  

Are you guys totally convinced he is on the show? Maybe he was talking to her and the "make out" didn't happen? Maybe he gave her a hello or goodbye hug, and someone exaggerated? Could it be a Chris B move and he walks on and she says "hi, but sorry" and he is headed for BIP? Could the twitter flirting have been staged?

I just don't know. I am anxious to see if there are any Nick sightings in Chicago this weekend.

Well, Nutty, that could be an option ... that Nick's whole involvement is greatly exaggerated, but i doubt for the purpose of BIP. Does anyone know? - I doubt the participation on BIP is written in the contract for his initial participation as a contestant on Andi's season. So I would assume his "job" is done, once the season and the extended period of advertising it is over. Every other participation requires a new contract, I presume, so he would have to make a conscious decision to want to roll around the beach with different babes every couple of days, without going too deep with his cerebral thoughts.... For pure pleasure - maybe. But to do that on camera, with no higher scope - I just can't imagine.

I don't think the twitter thing was staged. It was going on before she was announced as being the 'tte. There could easily have been DM's phone calls or other forms of contact prior to March 9th reveal.

IMO some sort of friendship relationship was forming, however they were in limbo because of the possibility of her becoming the 'ette. They announced it at the ATFR but then they announced the guys would be voting, see March 13th tweet. Once it was decided that it would be Kaitlyn, he then wanted to get on the show. JMHO he may have called them, or they may have known he was interested in her and saw the $$. I do think it was a surprise for Kaitlyn to see him there and he probably asked if he could talk to her later. This is what I'm speculating. Whether he remains there or not, we don't really know at this point, and can only speculate. IMO she asks him to come to the cocktail party, as we've seen this scripted scene in the past.

I didnt' go back to check what he favoured or what she favoured. Maybe someone else has that info from sleuthing.
