Married At First Sight - Season 2 - Ryan Ranellone and Jaclyn Methuen - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*

Former NYer here: You have no idea of the horrendous commute from where Ryan's mother lives into Manhattan. If Jaclyn works in Manhattan it would take her probably 2 hours each way in the rush hour, and maybe more. I think everyone, including Ryan's mom, is going to need to compromise in this situation.

I am a former LI'er. I am guessing that Jac needs the car to visit different clients, probably many in NJ. Ryan works out east as we used to say. From where he works to midtown Manhattan is approximately 60 miles and to Astoria is about 50 miles. I don't know where Jac home base is as far as work goes. He would be doing a reverse commute as most go to the city, but I did that for two years from two points in between where he would be doing it and it is still a haul, but lots of people do it. It isn't fun but, you do what you have to and what most non NY'ers don't understand is that for many of us this commute is simply a way of life in NY. I worked in NYC for over 20 years and my commute on the train and subway was 1 hour and 20 minutes each way, while expensive it beat driving any day, not to mention parking in NYC.

What happens to Ryan father?

I think they had divorced (maybe) when he was younger but I don't recall hearing much about his dad in articles or interview tbh. It must be strained because I don't recall him being at the wedding but maybe i already forgot him. Lol

No he was not at the wedding.

The info was the Ryan's parents separated 18 years ago (he is 28 so he would have been 10) and that his parents have never formally divorced. His one brother looks to be a few years older and his other brother looks much older. His deceased sister's child is 12 or 13 so I am guessing she would have been in her mid 30's or so. It seems like Ryan has adopted the role of husband, father, and brother (he would have been about 16 when his niece was born). That is ok but at some point he needs to live his own life - not in his mother's basement - and maybe his brothers can step up. Great for him to be so caring but it does not seem fair. Also a little weird to me that he expressed so much apprehension at leaving. He could also move his real estate business further south. Agents change offices all the time. I think Ryan is a great guy but it is time to fly the next (if he wants to be a husband).

The mother does not look all that well so I am wondering if that is the reason why he is worried.

There isn't anything I wouldn't do for my family. If it means going without my own place, or having to commute, it wouldn't matter to me. He seems very close to his Mother and of course his niece. I'm sure it was very difficult for him to leave especially considering he hardly new his wife.

I would have been cautiously suspicious if he didn't show some form of hesitation in leaving.

Yes, I totally understand him being sad and even worried about leaving. His mother doesn't seem to be in the best of health. Luckily Kayla is entering her teen years already, so she doesn't need the same amount of care as a younger child. I do hope they move closer though, eventually.

Totally agree GA. For many, being near and helpful to family is the main joy and purpose of life. For Ryan, also having lived there his whole life I believe, in that home and neighbourhood and community, of course leaving, even temporarily would stir up a lot of emotions. I thought he handled it well. He chose to try it, without making any demands and ultimatums to Jaclyn, but I think he knows that is where his heart is and where he'll end up needing to be. I hope Jaclyn can fit his needs into her life somehow because they seem to balance each other so nicely and make each other happy.

I can't see Jaclyn moving to were Ryan lives because then she'd be taking on all the commute. That's just too much imo unless she's willing to look for another job. Yes family is important but this is a fledgling relationship and you can only ask so much. I'll be interested to see what happens.

I think in any future shows they need to be better at matching people closer together. It's hard enough marrying a stranger without that added stress.
