Former Bachelorette Andi Dorfman knows a thing or two about DIY hair and makeup. (In case you forgot, all of the female contestants do their own hair and makeup while filming The Bachelor.) So we weren't exactly shocked when she told us she'd done her own makeup for the Taste of Tennis event at the W Hotel this week. Naturally, we grilled her about the rest of her beauty routine.

Sorry, where did you just say that you did your makeup? "I was doing my makeup in the car today. I've done my makeup and hair in more places than you care to even know about. It's to the point that I think that I could do it with my eyes closed. It's my hidden talent."

It's hard to even drink coffee in a car. What are your tricks for applying makeup in one? "It's not so much about the makeup application. I bring tissues and put them around my collar and in my lap so I don't end up with more makeup on my outfit than on my face."

Have you ever had any high-speed makeup mishaps? "I've had plenty of disasters: forgetting crucial products like foundation, smearing mascara all over, getting makeup on my outfit. Hence my advice on only doing mascara at red lights and covering your clothes."

I'm guessing this doesn't happen when you're the one driving. "When I was an attorney, I used to have to be at work early, which was a struggle for someone who is not a morning person. So I'd leave the house with no makeup on and every time I was stopped at a red light, I'd do my makeup. By the time I got to work I had a full face on."

When you do have a makeup artist do your makeup, how do you pass the time? "Usually, I make them into my therapists."

Did that happen a lot on The Bachelorette? "Oh, yeah. I fell in love with my makeup artist, my hairstylist, and my clothing stylist. And I used them each as a therapist."

Did you ever break down and cry in the chair? "Oh, sure, all the time. I'd say, 'Do my eyes last.' I was going 23 hours a day. I was so tired, and the last thing I wanted to do was be poked and prodded or have my eyelashes curled. Sometimes you just break down."

How does your makeup differ in real life versus on a reality show? "I think that on a daily basis, you'll find me with very little makeup on. I don't make a big fuss. But obviously, when it's a show or an event like this, I like to get dolled up, and I put on fake eyelashes and kind of glam it up a little bit."

Who shapes your eyebrows, by the way? They're great. "Me."
