Episode 12 - 8/1 After the Final Rose - Discussion - Spoilers

I did think that Brad and Chantal's physical connection was smoking hot, however there were a lot of red flags that their emotional connection was off. The afternoon following the photo shoot on the beach and Chantal was so upset and crying and Brad did not feel her pain I knew that she was not the one in his heart. My personal opinion is that no two situations are exactly alike.

I am going to ask this and probably get bombarded for doing so, but last season with Brad.......who felt that the connection between Brad and Chantal was smoking hot?? Yet we all know she was F2, so how is that differrent?

For me - I saw the hot chemistry with Chantal, but I paid careful attention to what the Emily fans were saying and in reading Brad's blog, HE had a connection with Emily.
IMO, there is something there with Ben and Ashley (that recent pool pic of Ben carrying Ashley) - I just don't see it as strong as with JP.

I think for me personally, I just believed Chantal was F1 was just because of RS. But I learned from last season, so this year I started at the beginning when this site was just starting out. I worked through the spoilers, listened to peoples comments and the sleuthers that brought information to this board. I even made a chart that took several hours to make.

That opened up my eyes that I might of figured out the F1 before RS did and I just needed a few more pieces of the puzzle. So I thought ok if it is JP then I need to see it for myself before I believe whatever RS says. So I sat down and watched the first episode and by the time episode 2 came along, I was 95% sure. As soon as the date in HK came, I was 100% sure. I never swayed from this decision the entire season. :Nod:

Just a newbie to this whole show and how it works. But I have learned a ton this season.... that is for sure.

I think that many of us who saw the Chantal-Brad heat also started to see him pull away, especially on the FD and LCD's....

I'm REALLY hoping that, since Ash has tried to be pretty honest, as best she could within the parameters of "the process", that she will not do or say anything with Ben that she doesn't mean. IMHO he deserves at least as much integrity and consideration as the men who left long before him. It still will be possible for him to misinterpret - "reading" the situation accurately is his responsibility - but I hope we will see that Ashley did not lead him on unduly. If she did, she wouldn't be the first - or last- lead to do so.... but as a fan of gentle Ben, I won't enjoy watching anything like that. Kinda hope they show us lots of humorous banter, etc..... that is, unless he's F1, in which case I'd want to see every steaming minute they have on film (lol)...
I'm still thinking it's JP, but likewise am still amazed that MF let the lovestory be so visible. I'm also amazed that 2 people could've "known" so quickly - and curious as to whether there are ever any "coulda/shoulda/woulda" doubts (even if only after a typical couple's argument) somewhere down the line....) I questioned Channy & Brad last year, as igniting so quickly - but I loved the Brad I saw with Chantal. Clearly Ashley seems very happy with JP - and deserves to be happy - but as one whose very favorite book is "Jane Eyre", I LOVE those slow-burning romances that almost catch the audience by surprise. THAT's what I thought I saw the potential for with Ben. But he doesn't have to "win" - I just wish we could see his story as it develops in the coming months/years. I'm looking forward to seeing this tortoise take his victory lap - if not now, then in the (hopefully) near-future!

Albean, you are so right. There's no reason why we wouldn't see pictures, if it were true. jmo

It was hot; I don't know if I would say it was smoking hot. But it was totally physical - perhaps for both of them. There's an old stereotype - that a man will give love to get sex and a woman will give sex to get love. As I watched Chantal and Brad, I couldn't escape the feeling that Chantal was acting out the female role in that stereotype, and that Brad wasn't.

I only watched the episodes casually last season but from what I saw it was Emily. He was a blubbering fool every time she was near. He was calm, cool, collected Brad with the other girls. I read the spoilers a few weeks before RS switched and felt it was off. I was actually surprised to see the board love for Chantal (Don't get me wrong, she seems like an amazing girl) because her edit was such a turnoff to a casual viewer. The SI date was the worst for all involved and I kept thinking if he had picked her, he would have made her feel better in that moment but he gave the rose to Ashley. Chantal and Brad did have chemistry but I thought him and Ashley did as well. Chantal's way definitely more hot but it didn't seem like that was what Brad was looking for. I felt nothing from him and Shawntel.

I don't think the chemistry edits this time match Brad's but I could be off. Still somewhat new to edits.

Brad and Ashley's wholesome fun chemistry reminds me of Ashley and Ben's. They're comfortable and can have a great time no matter what they're doing.

He sure was, and she didn't see him either.

Oh, she saw JP, all right. I'm not sure to which "charade" you're referring, but it's clear to me that JP caught her eye from the beginning. She was temporarily infatuated with Bentley and once she got that out of her system, it was JP all the way.
