Episode 8 - 7/18 Hometown dates - Discussion - Spoilers

Ashley's sister's comment "I'm trying to save you from yourself" is completely inappropriate. She was 100% in support of Brad and Ashley and Brad had way less of a connection than she does with JP. I'm sure it is hurtful to Ashley bc she is so confident in her decision AND it will be on national tv and hurt JPs feelings later. I would be pissed if my sister did that. But then Ashley and her sister don't look like they have much in common.

Constantine is the one whose "actions speak louder than words" and I think the clip of proposing "right now" with JP is spliced and actually refers to getting married "right now."

Ryan coming back is even dumber than Jake returning.

I don't see this at all. JP was beaming in his video blog, Ashley was beaming in her Phila Inquirer piece, and we know that there have been safehouse visits.
The drama is there to mislead the viewers and keep em watching.

wasn't her sister tweeting or facebooking quite a bit after last season? I think she likes the attention and maybe went into this planning on "acting" controversial, just for the sake of not conforming to the usual supportiveness of the leads family?

going by the history of this show, the odds are against JP and Ash lasting. It's not just the edit of the show, it's the nature of this show.

I'm a glass half-full person on this one. I honestly think they have the chemistry and maturity to make it work. Hopefully I won't be eating my words a few months from now.

Only time will tell with Ashley will make it with any of the F3, and you know it won't be the first time any of us have eaten crow.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw that TPTB showed us both Ben and JP leaving the HTD's. I did wonder about Ashley talking about Ben's sexiness (as sex is something that she feels is important in a relationship). Watched but didn't see her say that about JP (anyone?).

Bilolo I think it's because her sister believes that Ashley's picker is broken.

You know, one thing that stands out to me is we have heard Ashley say (paraphrasing here) "Constantine, Ben, J.P., Ames....are close to their family. .....has such a tight family bond. I want that"

Maybe this is showing us that Ashley does not have as tight of a bond with her family as she would like, but she is seeking that with her chosen one.

ICAM! She wants to build a strong, loving family with a partner who will never desert her and who will love her unconditionally. IMO she's totally found him judging by her protective interviews/blogs and his loving and protective vlog. They're not even a "real" couple yet but already it's obvious just how much of a team they are and how they see themselves as allies.

I definitely agree with that.

In my opinion, the overall Ashley/JP storyline this season seems to have been overcoming obstacles. Why did they pick that? Because they see tons of obstacles for Ashley/JP in real life or because the only storyline they've got for Ashley/JP is how they deal with obstacles (because their connection is so obvious). I sure don't know. Of course that assumes JP is F1 but I'm having a hard time not believing he is at this point. I just don't see any other relationship that's anywhere near the level of theirs on the show. I just feel like this is playing out like a rom com where they're storyboarding in all these obstacles but there's going to be a happy ending (without knowing if it's a happy ever after).

I've always said I'll wait not for the FRC but ATFR. Right now my gut is telling me that if JP is F1 then he & Ashley are basically on the same page now about the show messing with your mind so they've almost started over after the show, they're tuning everything else out and focusing on each other and so far so good. It's just a vibe I get from Ashley's interviews and JP's vlog. But I have no evidence and this is just an opinion so I don't expect anybody to agree. Even if I'm right it doesn't mean this'll last forever and I know that.

re: Editting of HTDs

When Ash gets to Ames hometown, she states, "Wow, this is gor juss! From New York City to this!!"
Jp's date was editted to be in an idyllic Long Island small town and that she left in daylight hours. I'll bet they spent the evening in NYC and had a nice night out in the town that never sleeps!
