As a public service to y'all- and I tweeted this to Sean- there is a big scam going around- people who call saying they're from the IRS- and want you to give them personal info (SSN, etc.). They are also threatening that you owe $. The IRS doesn't communicate this way and certainly doesn't ask you to send them prepaid cards or anything of the sort. The Wall Street Journal had an article about it in the last week. The IRS will communicate with you by mail- of the snail variety.

Good for you letting folks know that bit of information and for tweeting it to Sean. I also know that the IRS communicates by mail not phone. Hope he got the hint and didn't say anything on the phone.

Perhaps, he initiated the call, to the right IRS phone number. I call them from time to time...the wait is quite long before an agent comes to the phone, which is understandable due to the volume of calls they receive....but the person taking the call is authentic Hopefully, he was not called but initiated the call himself to an IRS authentic phone number
