GA, just asked my hubby what he did the last time he had one. This suggestion was given to him and he believes in it.

Get diet pepsi, keep it at room temperature, lay down on the couch while doing this and drink as many as you can, up to 6 cans. It is supposed to eat away the barbs so you can pass them with out the pain. Hopefully once you have to go to the bathroom they will go bye, bye.

The first time he got one we were going on a mini vacation and we were in the hot pools and he noticed it went without too much pain after that, so that was another thing you could try if they above does not work.

They are horrible, soooooooooooooooooooooo painful. They look like mini sputniks. A stone with barbs. Hope this helps.

My urologist friend suggested lots of hydration and that Flomax would help. Not sure if a GP can prescribe that or not.

GA, my friend gets kidney stones all the time. She always uses this remedy and says it works. Every time . When she even has the inkling of another stone, she uses this remedy asap.

Eliminating Kidney Stones

To perform a lemon and olive oil cleanse, blend 5 ounces of lemon juice with 5 ounces of olive oil. Extra-virgin olive oil is best because it is the healthiest, and it has a thicker consistency than most other food oils. People may wish to add a small amount of honey to improve the taste. Drink the solution as quickly as possible. Do this once in the morning, and once in the late afternoon. Continue this for several days, or until the stone passes. Drink plenty of water throughout

Thanks Kasha. Whew. Smiley

Thanks everyone else!
stuck - never heard of that, but I will check it out.

Brill: that's the only one I didn't try because I'm not a pop/soda drinker. But I think at this point, I just might try it.

ForeverLove: I've done that method before but I don't recall those measurements. I will give that another shot. (It's so horrible yuck) laugh out loud

I had also gotten herbal pills from an old Pakistan man. Chanka Pedra, after taking them for a month I had passed a 3mm one. But I can't find him! He must have moved! I see you can buy them online but I would have preferred to get them from someone I know.

The pain is undescribable, I want to avoid an attack!

So sorry, GA. Kidney stones are unbearable, as you know. I've had two KS attacks in my lifetime, the last one being when I was 9 months pregnant (and on Mother's day in 1992). The only thing that helped me was a morphine drip Hugesmile Hugesmile Five days later, I had a baby boy. I can confidently say I would rather have a baby than a kidney stone attack. I remember after the stones were passed and analyzed, they told me they were mostly made of calcium. I was advised to drink lots of water, and cut back on diary products to prevent them in the future. I haven't had one since, and hope I never do.

There is no real cure. There are several different types of stones(chemical composition) so even a modification of diet is not successful.

With the diet soda thing, especially if you do not drink it normally, it can cause diarrhea and other issues. Not saying don't try it, but I would flush with lots of water afterward. My father was taken off soda because it was poison. His heart problems and random fainting disappeared completely. The acid additives in soda are not good.

Certainly by now everyone has heard about what cola can do to the paint of your car. So why would anyone think drinking lots of cola would do different to our insides?

Mustang19 - you made me cringe reading your post. You wonder how you ever get through them after experiencing those attacks. I had three KS attacks the first time before I got rid of one.

I apparently have uric acid stones and I DO NOT want an attack. Therefore I need to do whatever it takes to get rid of it/them! as I take a swig of my 2nd bottle of water so far today.
