Chris Harrison did not say that JP was "impossible" to be around; however, he did say that he "had been in a foul mood all week," and something about it was going to get worse.

See atlanta1221's post for the ONLY things CH said all week. He did say JP was in a foul mood all week but said NOTHING about it was going to get worse. He said the group date made it worse. There's a difference.CH also said JP told Ashley "instead of bitching and moaning behind the scenes". Which means JP wasn't acting out off camera. So much for that theory.

Harrison: It's kind of a Catch-22 because you're supposed to start falling in love and caring about someone; but if you do, then obviously you don't want them dating a bunch of other guys and you definitely don't want to watch it. I don't think it was showing a bad side of J.P., it wasn't psycho, he explained himself so well and in a very endearing way. And he told it to Ashley which I liked instead of bitching and moaning behind the scenes.

JP was in a foul mood all week and being put on the group date only made it worse. It’s not that he’s necessarily insecure but it’s tough for these guys who care for Ashley at this point to have to watch her date the other guys. JP did deliver the line of the night when he described Ames’ outfit as the “offspring of an ostrich and Elton John”. While JP and Lucas were wallowing in their misery Ames was his usual positive, delightful self. He carried on as if he didn’t have a care in the world and continued to impress Ashley.

Well, macho man Lucas has no room to talk. He was acting pretty moody about JP's moodiness. LOL! He had a frickin' rose after his date with Ashley and was still ragging in HK. He should have been in the 'secure' group but he was acting like Mickey and Blake. Lucas didn't make sense saying he didn't care about Ashley staying out with Ben. Yet, he was upset about Bentley who wasn't even there? Even RS said that he didn't make any sense in his interview. He doesn't like JP and is on his boy Ben's side. He's not keyed into his own feelings of rivalry w/JP. With already one failed marriage, maybe he needs to dig a little deeper and re-evaluate his 'mancode' ways. I'd say he's the one with anger issues and I saw quite a bit of eye rolling from him. He was also doing a whole lot of finger fidgeting when JP had his photo shoot. I doubt he was really that upset about wearing the 'dress.' I think he was as jealous as JP was. NONE of the guys enjoyed that date. JP was just the only one to honestly admit why.

Thank you for admitting you misremembered. I'm starting to be amazed at the lengths some people will go to, attributing comments to CH that he never made. As you said "Chris Harrison has said that he stands at times in the room and watches when they film, so perhaps he saw this as an eye witness." - his comments show he appreciated the way JP handled his bad mood, including saying JP went to Ashley "instead of bitching and moaning behind the scenes."

Nobody has to like the fact that JP was in a foul mood but it makes discussion more difficult when anybody present things as evidence that never happened. It's tough enough to cut through misleading edits on the show itself! I just hope everybody is careful to verify that what they're saying did actually happen.

I thought JP did the right thing. He didn't want to talk about it with the guys. He wanted to discuss it with Ashley. On another note, I also don't think JP is getting a jealous edit. I think he is getting a very insecure edit and the jealousy is a bi-product of his insecurity in the relationship. He doesn't know how she is feeling and it drives him nuts.

Ashley isn't perfect... I wouldn't expect her F1 to be edited as perfect either.

I talked about his in another thread but don't think JP storming out was manufactured other than he walk and didn't "storm" from what I can tell. They did throw in a shot of Ryan nodding out of order but they do things like that all the time to get the reaction they want. Obviously JP sat there for a short time and then left. You can see Ben is still talking when he walks by and Lucas seems to react to JP leaving. He also confirmed it in his interview.

I'm sorry but of course it's a jealousy edit no matter what the cause. I know my coworker was turned off by it and she had liked him. She likes Lucas so wasn't turned off by anything he said.

I know I can't convince anyone to see what I see in the editing... it's just how watching it all came off to me as a viewer and a JP fan. I cringed through most of it but was happy with the end result. He said he didn't know what was going on and just had to sit there (not talking to Ashley) and it was driving him nuts (or crazy maybe). He's unsure of her feelings... all he wants are some answers and not being able to ask her right away was upsetting. Jealousy doesn't look good on anyone so I hope for the sake of his future spouse (whoever it may be) that this trait stays, "25 guys competing for 1 girl" specific.

Personal perception based on life experiences... I know I know "Noob you are a JP fan so of course you will defend him ... yada yada yada." One of these seasons and I am going to remain objective for realz and blow everyone away with my stellar observations. LOL :awesome:

I am trying to be unbiased, but I think what we do need to see is that this is a very strong man with many strengths and great points, but this is also a moody man as well, and with that comes the idea that he can be difficult to get along with when things are not going his way in life. This may well be one of the things that the edit is trying to point out, and indeed JP himself has said some of this about himself when he gave his self-attributes in his bio on the ABC board.
Yikes! though, all week to be in a foul mood is a long time. It is a good thing he is not a female and has to deal with PMS every month. Katy bar the door! Lord have mercy.

Bottom line is JP was presented as flawed this episode, whereas previously he wasn't. Now that the dust has settled, he may have lost some fans, but the bottom line is most people who liked him found his behavior human and understandable (and some even like him more as a result), while the people who didn't like him already dislike him even more. Overall, it hasn't changed public perception that much, with viewers still picking him over Ben by almost 3 to 1. There are 3 episodes left. I would be very surprised if on HTDs, with his family, he is presented in any way negatively, other than afraid to get his heart broken again. That leaves 2 episodes to send his edit down the tubes, while finally presenting Ben as distinguishable from Dino, for this supposed new "spoiler" to make any sense whatsoever as an intelligent storyline editing decision from producers with no intention of destroying their own show.

Am I seriously the only one who didn't see the "flaw" as all that bad? He's not a crazy tattoo-your-arm defend-your-heart (or whatever that stupid line was) character!! He's an obviously competitive guy who suddenly discovers he actually has feelings for this girl and doesn't like to see her with other guys. He didn't yell and scream, he didn't take it out on her, he was moody and didn't talk. *gasp* He walked out of the room *gasp* He talked about how he was feeling with HER instead of bitching behind her back *GASP* And he acknowledged his own shortcomings *gasp*

What is so off putting about this? I am stumped, seriously.

I get that they are trying to introduce doubt into his story line, and I've watched the show long enough to get how they edit things (the shot of him leaving was from his own room if I remember correctly, not the room they were all in).

The funny thing about insecurity and jealousy, is most of us feel that way at some point or another. The trick is how we deal with it. I honestly think he dealt with it pretty well. Not perfect, but not terrible either. I'm honestly at a loss to explain why this is such a huge topic of conversation!!

Cfck and Iron, I'm so on the same page here. One of the qualities I appreciate most about Jash is that both of them support and build up the other when one of them needs it. They were doing it while filming and also now post-show. He comforted her after Bentley and listened to her in HK, and in turn, she listened to him in Taiwan, gave him the GDR and started a journal for the future. It's definitely the healithiest relationship we've ever seen, even when compared to perfect Ali and Roberto where she spent all season worried he's too good and we heard him address it maybe once.

No wonder Ash blogged about wanting a man who builds her up and then said the same thing in her interview with JK. She knows what she's talking about here.

No sweet pea, you are not the only who does not see this "flaw" as all that bad. When JP crossed over from just being on the show to having "REAL" feelings for Ashley he stopped caring about being politically correct. He just wanted to be with Ashley and did not want any other man dating her. He even said, to Ashley, he knew he had said he could handle it but things changed. That change was his feeling went from Like to LOVE.....

haha CH lumping JP and lucas together in their misery vs. ames keeping it happy-go-lucky was hilarious in light of the discussions on this board with lucas being one of the people that gave evidence JP actually walked 'stormed' out...I find it hilarious. I acknowledge JP is def a sensitive guy that takes things very much to heart cos of how passionate he is but there's nothing extreme or worrying about his behavior -- he's just human with imperfections like each of the guys and he eventually handled things in a matured way -- i don't quite get the need on this board to paint favorites/not in a perfect light or villanize --- NOBODY is perfect (including roberto and bentley)
