Also, JP was obviously self aware enough to own his behavior and admit it to others and Ashley. He discussed it rationally with her and in the past, has voiced his dislike of the process to the other guys who, in turn, have playfully teased him about it. You can't tell me they haven't enjoyed ribbing him about it. I don't think they would bother if he was such a pain to be around.

To me, his behavior is much different than that of a jealous hot head who stews, confronts others and kicks and screams and makes demands.

And I'm really curious. Are people this invested in the outcome that they really care about who is the F1? The F1 "prize" didn't work out that well for Emily. Like it or not, Chantal is the one who lucked out in the F2 spot as she is now happily engaged and living a normal life, by all accounts. From what I see, and whether this is real or all editing I don't know, but the attraction definitely says it's either Ben or JP. They both seem like great guys (lucky Ashley) so she really can't go wrong either way. And let's face it, the whole relationship will most likely be kaput in 3-6 months anyway, so I'm certainly not going to lose any sleep over whether JP seems to have "issues" with jealousy or whether Ben is going too slow or is in zombie-mode or is too laid back. I watch for the hot guys, the scenery, and mostly the snark.

Sad, but true. The days of Ian and Meredith in the hammock are long over for this viewer.

And even Meredith and Ian only lasted a year (sigh).

Ashley does have 2 great but very different guys that she chose from. We each have our personal preference, based on who we like, but since none of us know her, her real plans, goals, priorities, nobody can claim to know which guy is a better fit for her with any certainty whatsoever. As her choice was very clear cut, with each guy offering a very different lifestyle, emotional dynamic and future, I trust Ashley made the choice that was best for her, not the fans of either JP or Ben.

These are the only comments that Chris stated about JP this week. I don't see where he said that JP was impossible to be around. Its sounds like he was actually saying JP handled it well and didn't bitch and moan about it. Was there another blog or interview? These are from his blog and TV guide interview.

Will J.P.'s jealousy continue to rear its head?
Harrison: It's kind of a Catch-22 because you're supposed to start falling in love and caring about someone; but if you do, then obviously you don't want them dating a bunch of other guys and you definitely don't want to watch it. I don't think it was showing a bad side of J.P., it wasn't psycho, he explained himself so well and in a very endearing way. And he told it to Ashley which I liked instead of bitching and moaning behind the scenes.

JP was in a foul mood all week and being put on the group date only made it worse. It’s not that he’s necessarily insecure but it’s tough for these guys who care for Ashley at this point to have to watch her date the other guys. JP did deliver the line of the night when he described Ames’ outfit as the “offspring of an ostrich and Elton John”. While JP and Lucas were wallowing in their misery Ames was his usual positive, delightful self. He carried on as if he didn’t have a care in the world and continued to impress Ashley.

Chris Harrison did not say that JP was "impossible" to be around; however, he did say that he "had been in a foul mood all week," and something about it was going to get worse.
Now, somebody being in "a foul mood" means that they are difficult and unpleasant to be around. That is generally the implication from those words, and realistically I can't see any reason to diminish that.
By what Chris Harrison said, we are being led to understand that the guys were having a hard time being around JP because of his moods.

Now Chris Harrison said that much. We have read it.We know it is not hear say that CH said it. Chris Harrison has said that he stands at times in the room and watches when they film, so perhaps he saw this as an eye witness. At any rate, we do know that Chris Harrison also stated that JP was in a foul, difficult mood for the guys to deal with all week.

Wrong.

See atlanta1221's post for the ONLY things CH said all week. He did say JP was in a foul mood all week but said NOTHING about it was going to get worse. He said the group date made it worse. There's a difference.

CH also said JP told Ashley "instead of bitching and moaning behind the scenes". Which means JP wasn't acting out off camera. So much for that theory.

Of course we know that JP was "bitching and moaning behind the scenes" even though he did tell Ashley about it. IA with Bloomers and think that what CH said confirms what Lucas was telling us as well as the looks the guys were giving each other when JP was sulking.

Either way I don't think CH really cared. He summed the whole thing up as saying he handled it in an endearing way. So however the issue was settled he was satisfied enough to support JP in his blog.

I thought JP did the right thing. He didn't want to talk about it with the guys. He wanted to discuss it with Ashley. I am sure if he could have talked to Ashley right away about it instead of letting it stew in him all week he would have. That tells me that if these two are together and they have a problem he will go to her first... not bad mouth and vent about her to someone else.

Sorry, the whole manufactured "storm out" is leaving a sour taste in my mouth concerning the editing of the whole episode.

On another note, I also don't think JP is getting a jealous edit. I think he is getting a very insecure edit and the jealousy is a bi-product of his insecurity in the relationship. He doesn't know how she is feeling and it drives him nuts.

Ashley isn't perfect... I wouldn't expect her F1 to be edited as perfect either.

That's a good distinction and now that you put it that way I agree. It's an insecure edit (jealousy being a side effect in this episode) and that's the by product of the process and show. The producers of course know how to push all those buttons.

About your 2nd paragraph, if there is one thing that's jumped out at me about this whole season, it's how Ashley and JP are both imperfect and how they deal with each other's imperfections. It's not great that they have those imperfections but the way they've handled each other's imperfections is endearing to me. Like, borderline healthy which almost never happens on a show like this giggling

I'm not saying that's THE love story of the season but what I am saying is that element is something that I find endearing in a sort of sweet indie rom com kind of way. I'd actually say both Ashley's relationships with her F2 have elements that appeal in a sweet indie rom com kind of way. But I see why that would have less mass appeal.

I talked about his in another thread but don't think JP storming out was manufactured other than he walk and didn't "storm" from what I can tell. They did throw in a shot of Ryan nodding out of order but they do things like that all the time to get the reaction they want. Obviously JP sat there for a short time and then left. You can see Ben is still talking when he walks by and Lucas seems to react to JP leaving. He also confirmed it in his interview.

I'm sorry but of course it's a jealousy edit no matter what the cause. I know my coworker was turned off by it and she had liked him. She likes Lucas so wasn't turned off by anything he said.
