I just feel that regardless of whether JP is F1 or F2, including the jealousy bit (and perhaps even ramping up the extent of it via the editing) was the only choice the producers had in terms of trying to put together an interesting show this season. These guys (and Ashley) are just not giving them enough craziness to work with, outside of the Bentley stuff (which they may have had to pull the plug on early because it pissed off so many viewers).
It reminds me of a comment CH made about how this group of men were more mature and professional, and weren't getting into a lot of "exploits" in the house like past contestants did. He made it sound like a positive, but I suspect that TPTB were very disappointed, and went looking in other directions for the crazy as a result.
I agree. Also, as to what Bloomers said about how TPTB edit the relationship to show why it won't work out. Well, what if TPTB edited our relationships? What would they show -- human traits like selfishness, jealousy, short tempers, love, etc. The fact of the matter is that it's every couple's responsibility to decide whether or not the good traits of their partner outweigh the bad traits and then whether to stick it out.

I hope you are right, but you know? Ashley can never decide what color hair she wants. I just think it may be difficult for Ashley to settle down to things right now, and that is not a huge condemnation from me. She is what? 26? She has time in life to make relationship and long term decisions. I would hope with everything in me, though, that she continues with her education and finishes it completely out to the point that she can actually hang her shingle out and practice if she so chooses to do so.

JMO but I can't imagine love-starved Ashley "deciding" to leave a man who so clearly adores her and treats her like he reads her mind and knows exactly what she wants in a partner.
Big: You know, Manhattan has a lot of beautiful women.
Carrie: What an amazing observation!
Big: But the thing is, after awhile, you just wanna be with the one who makes you laugh.

To put it simply -- can you imagine Brad's season without the overly emotional Ashley and Chantal and the crazy Michelle Money?
This season the only potentials for this stuff were ONLY Ryan and JP (part of it manufactured) -- and both are too mild to get the real stuff for TV gold...I wish TPTB would be quick to realize that people watch for the relationship dynamics and we want to see that...

Brad's season without Michelle would've been a complete snoozefest - she was hilarious!!happyntexas wrote:LOLOL.....half the time I was watching just to see what Michelle would say next in her PI's.

I really do think that Ashley has had some of the best guys ever though, in the end, only a couple out of the bunch, each season, come close to being a match for the lead.
I'm not sure Ashley is as ready as she needs to be. She's got a whole lot going on to get so caught up in finding a husband on TV. As far as the edit predicting the future, I'm sure we can all see things. These producers are not all seeing beings. They seem to be in the same age range/boat as many of the contestants.
What I see/fear is that JP is really ready. I'm not sure Ashley is. I think that while she's been portrayed as insecure and needy, she really isn't that bad and JP may end up being the needy one and he may be too much for her when it pans out.
On the other hand, Ben has been through a heavy loss. He said something about understanding that death was a part of the cycle of life and he really does seem to have a different attitude about things.. "you're a smart girl, you'll figure it out." "She just needs to focus on the guys who are left and she'll be okay." "if I end up crushed in the end, that's a part of it ..." So, I'm assuming that if Ashley does have a wee bit of neediness and is looking for a guy to lean on and to provide a certain level of guidance, Ben might not be enough because his perspective is different. He's going to think that most things aren't that big of a deal and assume that she'll figure it out on her own.
I'm not sure Goldilocks is going to find her long term "just right" (if there even is one in life) if she chooses either of them.

I enjoyed Peter Pan William. I also enjoyed the beautiful, realistic, frank Mickey who called it like he saw it, and then took her bluff to her dismay. Who would have thought the dentist would have been such a girl about things? :laughingoutlou Also, we have never seen any bachelor, let alone an F3 be an nonchalant as Dino has been. That has been entertaining. He has kept Ashley intriqued, and she is chasing him.
Also, while it may "ruin" Ashley's big day, if Ben walks away after she rejects him, I am so looking forward to that because that is so credibly realistic. We have seen signs in seasons before where the F2 realizes in a lightbulb moment that they have been played - led on and deceived ( whether the show calls for it or not which doesn't matter to the F2), and they get angry and not hurt in that moment.
If he walks away, she really has it coming! That is realistic in my opinion because he will have come to the realization on the spot that he was deceived up to that moment by everything she had said and done.

IDK, I interpret that part to be that Ben realizes the process he and the other guys are going through and the results are not in his hands at all - I don't think that would translate into the real world where he would take a hands off approach to the lady he falls in love with. Some of these folks never truly let their walls down because they fear being rejected, this very well could be Ben.

Please forgive me for my naivete -- but doesn't this happen every season?
