Episode 7 - 7/11 - Discussion - Spoilers

Mary & Nativenewyorker, thank you for opening up to us to help us understand things more clearly. I am sorry for what you both went through, and hope you are both stronger today because of it.

I have written this before but feel it is worth repeating....never in a million years did I ever think JP was dangerous, abusive, etc. I have only mentioned his jealousy in terms of the edit of showing it.

Now that the Bentley fandango is over and done with, they have to do something to get people interested and talking about this season. Sheesh!

I don't think this whole jealousy is relevant except to show how hard JP is falling. He's only driving himself crazy and that's the point. He's not harming the other guys or being mean to him. So he didn't want to shake Ben's hand that morning. Big deal! LOL! I think all of the guys except Constantine are having hard time but then he's got the least invested. Roberto was able to stay focused. I seem to remember him saying that he was just keeping his eye on the prize. Frank was the one who was freaking after having the first date with her. He was getting jealous but I don't remember him taking the time to express to Ali how he felt. She had to seek him out and give him extra attention. Ryan is the closest to JP in behavior. He was having strong visible reactions to Ashley's interactions with other guys and they also showed him saying that he wanted her all to himself. Just because they didn't show Ben or Ames or any of the other guys saying it doesn't mean that they didn't say it or don't feel it. Jealousy is what hit Mickey and Blake so hard and they were mean to her. Constantine, who hadn't tried at all, went in on her too. Lucas was pissed - as he said. If you aren't there to get the girl just for yourself, you aren't there for the right reasons and after a few weeks, the dates with guys should bother you. The "you do what's best for you" attitude is why Brad sent Ashley home. She acted as though she didn't really care one way or the other. I'm not sure that she did but she definitely wasn't as invested as Chantal or, I assume, Emily.

Anyhow, this horse is dead and those who think JP has some tragic character flaw because he has issues with who he sees as his future wife dating and kissing other guys will continue to think so. Those who think he's really falling in love and experiencing/expressing healthy emotions will do so too. If Ashley wasn't sure how JP felt before, I think she does now.

Agree.. the horse is dead.. let's all move on. Ashley is happy now.... so it doesn't really matter. :sweetheart:

My deal is JP is not someone I find attractive due to how he displayed his jealously in this episode but I'm in now way most women. I'm not a fan of possessiveness, obsession or jealousy which are stereotypical romantic themes basically. But I'm also someone who has a history of open relationships where jealousy was addressed differently than how monogamous couples do it.

When monogamous as a result I tend to like my guys without much jealous. Doesn't mean they're mellow or lacking passion just that they exhibit or deal with their jealousy in a more subdued way versus behaving like JP did.

I don't think JP is dysfunctional. I think he's just not the type of guy I would be remotely interested in. Lots of the females who watch this show watch it as people they would be attracted to. I'm no different. None of these guys are guys I'd be attracted to really.

BINGO...........thanks for being the voice of reason!! This is what I am saying but obviously not getting it across properly...JP was exibiting traits of possessiveness, obsession jealousy which is very UNbecoming of a guy. Jealousy like that just is soooooooo unattractive to me. In my life I am in a relationship that jealousness like that doesn't need to enter........hubby has done some jobs in the entertainment field, ie tv shows, I have done jobs in bars like in Hamilton, Ontario in the old days when it was a steel town with Stelco and stuff......you are a waitress in the bar, guys would slap your butt as you walk by..........my hubby even saw it and handled it perfectly........

The way JP handled it reminds me of a child that can't deal with reality.......IMO

ITA with you Bean...........The way JP reacted definately is unattractive and does take away from a F1 edit. Never in the shows history that I know of, has any jealous edit been the F1. This resembles what my source said about how JP's edit will change........just sayin.

You're entitled to your opinion, and others are entitled to theirs about who JP is or isn't, as well as on whose is the voice of reason. Nobody's going to change anyone else's mind on this if we go a thousand more posts back and forth. Let's just agree to disagree on this and move on, shall we?

I think JP is more a Rocky road type guy and Ben is vanilla. what ya'll think? Actually I think I prefer Rocky Road.. much more complex ..just sayin..

Ben is the guy who drew the elephant on the wall. I would say he at least deserves sprinkles over that vanilla ice cream. He may not be volital or complex, but we also know he creates wines. There is no telling what else a creative man might come up with under just the right circumstances. ....back to my normal now.
