this reminds me of her saying she's just ready to go home, she quickly followed it up with going back to the US and HTDs, but after the last elimination I do believe she was actually ready to go home with her F1.

Well, she and JP are on the same page again because he said that after HK, he didn't want to go to another destination ... he just wanted to make it through the week, HTDs and get her back to NY so they could continue what they started.

I so agree with this...her first 1n1 with Ryan and she let him go, could not even finish the date... nada between them... Ashley has a hard time making decision, always questions herself... she cried more after letting go of Lucas than Ryan so the only thing I can think of is that TPTB is using Ryan as a tool for setting him up as the next Bach, maybe he does have a bigger role but that SC of JP at the FRC, that jawline is a match to me. JMO

I think the whole Ryan leaving and coming back is just another take on the whole Ali leaving and phoning Jake. Difference is Ali wanted out and Ryan was just not going to get a rose. I have a feeling that at this point, the producers made the decision that they wanted him for the next Bach and set up the return of Ryan in Fiji to further his story. The show doesnt even bother advertising anymore "if you'd like to be the next Bach or Bachelorette" so you know that while they're shooting one season, they're planning the next one.... and I think they had their sites set on Ryan and the reason he gets so many PI's and the edit is showing the other guys talking about him. Yes, they say negative things about him but only that he's always so happy and has high energy, which can be annoying qualities but I'm sure tptb can put a positive spin on how he has a zest for life etc etc etc.

I also think there may be more to he Ryan story that has been spoiled. I agree that he is in the works to be the next Bachelor at this point and his return is essentially his start to his season. I was a very casual viewer so maybe someone can help out with this but I hear people leave and return a lot on this show. I've also heard that sometimes someone will come back and warn the lead or cause doubt on their decision.. Like DeAnna did with Jason? Maybe Ryan comes back and tells her not to pick a certain person. Or maybe he does rejoin the running and is in attendance at the FRC. I admit that at certain glances Ryan does look like the guy Ashley is talking to.

I have thought that Ryan is the guy at the FRC since I saw his profile in the Hong Kong episode. I paused on just a certain place to go do something and when I came back and looked at the TV, I thought "all be darned." It was of the back of his neck, jawline, and shoulder. Sure looked like him. Plus, he is the right height for the guy at the FRC.

The purpose of the return of a contestant is usually just for drama and is producer influenced. What Ryan says and does remains to be seen but I'm not seeing him play any other role for Ashley other than just being another guy that she let go. If she could get over Bentley that fast, I"m not seeing her stressing too much about letting Ryan go. I think Ash has been told that he's being considered for Bach and to just play along.... again, much like the whole Jake and Ali phone scene.

Yeah, the scruff threw me off. I meant to add that I do see JP as well. Depends on how I feel.

Agreed - Jeremy 'returned', it didn't alter the lineup or outcome. Deanna returned to give Jason advice - he didn't heed her advice, didn't alter the outcome, Ed and Jake returned - only Ed altered the outcome, but he was going to be her F1 whether he left or not, Ali left and kinda returned, didn't alter the outcome (although Jake said publically that if someone held a gun to his head at F4 he would've chosen Ali), Frank and Justin left - didn't alter the outcome. Now we've had Bentley leave and return, didn't alter the outcome. Ryan left at F6, whatever the purpose of his return it has nothing to do with altering the outcome.

Could Ryan be coming back to give advice maybe.....possibly. He might need closure himself. He certainly didn't see it coming when he was let go.

I agree with both of you. Though Ryan's return is being hyped in the previews, Ashley's comments in the People blog made it clear she didn't have strong enough feelings for him. She sent him home so as to not lead him on and the way she talks about him in her blog sure doesn't make it seem like he's very relevant to the rest of her journey on the show. She cares for him as a person, obviously. But I'd even say this line from Ashley: "Knowing that he had a successful business back home, and such a desire to find someone, I couldn't possibly keep him away from that." is a possible hint about Ryan being the next Bachelor.

As far as what Ryan's role winds up being, I think it's related to that head/heart line Ashley speaks at one point. She knows Ryan is a good guy, sincere, and he's what her head is telling her she should want in a guy. But her heart pulls her in a different direction. It sounds like she'll have another emotional mini crisis because she hated hurting Ryan in the 1st place but I don't think he'll make her question her feelings for either F2 guy.
