Episode 7 - 7/11 - Discussion - Spoilers

I've found not to try to follow a formula or an edit. I fixate on looking past the assumed "edit" and have been right on The Bachelorette (don't really remember all of Jenn's season. She wasn't that into it) each time.

Hmmm, I'm not sure. Does anyone know if the Bachelor/Bachelorette picks the order of the roses handed out or do the producers? I was thinking the producers have a say in the order to at least some extent, like when Bentley received the last rose at the rose ceremony in the first episode.

I think he might have, too. I thought he just wasn't interested in her at first, but now I just think the whole situation moved too quickly for him with the little time spent with her.

Producers decide the order of the roses. From some info I got, sometimes after the lead chooses her top guys the first night, producers also decide who is going home when - with adjustments as needed of course.

Or they just air them in the sequence they want - we've seen evidence of this in the past where astute viewers have seen contestants with roses when they hadn't actually received one yet.

and I just wanted to add that the leads dont necessarily pick their F4 the very first night - but certainly within the first few days they since we know producers want to gives particular dates to particular folks.

as much as it saddens me - I have to agree with this. We used to be able to watch the show and determine who could or couldn't be F1 by watching the edits. No way was Trish ever going to be F1, or Kirsten, or Princess Erica, the list goes on and on and on - but all that changed after Brad dumped Deanna and Jenni. The edits went haywire and we've since had a very confrontational F1 in Vienna, a snowboard loving crazy haired, kick CH in the throat F1, and Ed. So this season we very well could have our very first jealous F1 - it's been a new day in Bach land since Brad changed the landscape - and it only makes it difficult to determine anything by the edits. but it won't stop me from trying...... :evilgrin:

I don't know whether to agree with this or not. I don't think Ed really had a bad edit. I think he was just himself on the show. No editing needed. He was mostly disliked because of the girlfriend scandal, which wasn't ever brought up on the show. As for Vienna, I thought I remembered one poster saying she got a bad edit because Jake got a good edit. I do think Ashley picks JP, but I still have some doubts.

I'm not saying Ed got a bad edit, but a typical F1 pre-Brad wouldn't have gotten the Erectile Disfuntion during his FD or that they were able to seal the deal during the LCD with rocket launches and erupting volcanos.

we had no spoilers for Jill's season - sdl managed to get some stuff, (mostly Ed and girlfriendgate information) but we were never spoiled as to who F1 - I knew Ed was F1 when she let him come back, and the parents coming to HI for the FD sealed the deal for me. There are always clues as to who the lead is actually into.

I see what you're saying. The show did change once Brad was the Bachelor.

I think the change came with the recycled contestant being the new lead. Since then, the edit has to tell a different kind of story. The 2 main edits used to be the F1 and the F2, now it's the F1 and the one they want to be the next Bach or 'ette. This has changed how the edit is done as they want you to love both, but actually put more effort into the next lead (they don't know for sure it will be them, but they're trying :awesome: ) Personally, right now, if you disregard Bentley as he was just the drama edit, the 2 primary edits seem to be JP and Ryan. Now Ryan may not turn out to be the next Bach but I think at the time they were putting this show together, he was the guy wanted, hence his return to Fiji. The other guys edits dont' really seem to be a factor from the point of view of the editors.

Really? They are asked to choose their final 4 the first night? That doesn't seem right. I believe they know very early who they favor but things can change. I know that production chooses the order of the roses and who goes as long as it is not one the favor. That makes sense to insure drama.

Ryan in his Vblog is still in love with her? He is allowed to do this seeing as that he returns to the show? Someone thinks Ryan is F1. Guess this blows this guess out of the water.

I like both JP and Ben. I started out a JP fan, then added Ben to my list the more I saw of him. Just wanted to say this because many on here think everyone is divided into two camps. I am not. Either choice is good with me. I would prefer to see Ben as the next Bachelor, however. Somehow I think Ryan will take that role. Not too happy about that one.

yes, I think it's a possibility - I don't need evidence that he's right, but a little humility on his part would go a whole way. And when he puts on all eggs in one basket (when that's bitten him in the butt before) I have to be cautious that he may have been fooled yet again.

RS also told us that Ryan does return in Fiji but that he doesn't play a role in the FRC - I'm not so sure he's right on that one either.

this reminds me of her saying she's just ready to go home, she quickly followed it up with going back to the US and HTDs, but after the last elimination I do believe she was actually ready to go home with her F1.

Absolutely agree with this. She was so done with Asia, managing everyone's feelings, knowing that she was ultimately leading all but one one guy on.

i don't see how in the world Ryan could be final one really, Ashley's not into him since the begining
