I agree that Ashley is going to say in retrospect she knew from the beginning who she wanted, whether it is true or not. But I don't get why she would say that viewers should be able to have figured it out by now if it's Ben, unless it's a deliberate attempt to mislead. She must know that the overwhelming majority of the viewing public at this moment is seeing her connection with JP only, and for some, Ben is still being confused with Dino.

Remember that Chantel already had a serious boyfriend by the time the finale aired. Wouldn't be surprised to find out that Ben has been dating quietly. Very risky but it seems like it happens almost every other season. He doesn't appear to care too much about what TBTB think. JMO

Nobody obeys that rule about not seeing anyone until the episode when they get eliminated airs. We already know that Ames at least tried to start dating Jackie G and Blake has something or another going on with Holly Durst. They either go back to an old girlfriend, one who was in the running to be a girlfriend or find a new one ... so they don't look like losers when they go to the MTA. LOL! Mickey says he's still single but I doubt that means he's a monk. He could be seeing any number of women but just isn't committed to anyone. That's the thin/grey line most of these men seem to straddle - including Brad who, technically, never proposed to Laurel. If they are vying to be the next Bachelor, they will say they are single even if they are dating multiple women on and off.

I honestly don't give the idea that her choice was obvious from the beginning much credit. She clearly was hung up on Bentley originally, so like evey other Bachelorette she is trying to make her F1 feel better in these interviews by making it seem like she only had eyes for him from the very beginning.

The problem with this show is that the leads can say that all they want, but they still have to endure their chosen one seeing totally different things on their TV screen every Monday night. Some F1s handle it well (Roberto for example) and other clearly don't (it obviously bothered Emily a great deal to watch Brad say the same exact things to the other ladies that she thought were only for her)

Brad kept repeating the same things so much it became a drinking game.

I sometimes think.....Fleiss knows and allows it. I mean we have an obvious F1, according to some, and if Ben is tweeting, he couldn't obviously be anything other than the F2. Then Ben is spotted here and there, but still no pictures. JP is missing in NY on safehouse weekends. Obvious conclusions are made.

Then again, everything just seems to obvious. I am preparing to get bit on the rear. LOL Nothing is ever this cut and dried. Some people say he owes the viewers a love story over the last season. I still don't think he would just let everything play out so obviously. This is strictly JMO.

I have to agree. It feels like they're just giving it right to us. I can't remember it ever being this obvious. There must be some twist, right? Something?

happyntexas, I'm wondering if you read Ashley's latest interview in the media thread? And if so, what do you think about it? It screams that she picked JP to me.

Maybe that is the twist. He's never made it obvious before, never flat out showed the love story before, and he knows viewers know that, and they are always looking for the hidden real love story. So he shows it this time, and he knows most viewers won't buy it, cause they know how he has operated in the past. And in the end, he surprises them again, because they were busy looking for the hidden story, when he was showing them the real story all along.

Well if Ashley is in love with Ben she'd be looking at their dates and thinking "how could they not tell what I was feeling?". Ditto if it's JP. I have a feeling there's a tendency for the lead to gloss over what they had with the f2 person with what they say and even watching themselves. Sort of rewriting history in their minds.

JP apparently didn't leave too much of an impression on Ashley immediately after Bentley left, Sjcalifgurl. She said herself that she wasn't able to give him her full attention on their 1st date and wanted to make it up to him. Obviously for whatever reason, Bentley did something for her and she was extremely upset when he left. I have no idea if she was really heartbroken but we saw her reaction so looks like she thought, so short time or not.

That Ashley could fall so fast for Bentley does make me think that no guy is out of it. A late bloomer can still win her heart. :awesome:

I beg to differ. I think that JP made a great impression on Ashley right from the get go (as did Bentley). I think she was very upset because she saw Bentley as more of a "sure thing" early on. He had been married (aka not a commitment phobe) She was totally attracted to JP but was unsure if he was there for the long-term. When Bentley left all her eggs were in one basket (JP) and that made her scared, imo.

Along those same lines, I guess Ben wasn't leaving much of an impression on Ashley during their Taiwan date, if she admitted she spent half of the date worrying about how the other guys would react to her staying overnight with him.

Not a knock on JP --- but I still marvel that someone/anyone can say "ILY" so quickly. Guess the "love" is different from what it will be when spoken months/years down the road....

Maybe it wasn't ILYs that were spoken, but an aknowledgement that something special existed between the 2 of them and they wanted to explore it further?
