" I knew where my heart was from very early on" is the distinct giveaway line. I don't see how Ben F...having his first one-on one date in the fifth episode can possibly be F1 if that's the case. This article reaffirms my belief that it has always been JP. The Bentley, Ryan, jealousy plotlines were thrown in as decoys to the the fact that Ashley had a tough time hiding her feelings/emotions and they needed to TRY to steer us away from the JP connection. Ashley said she didn't make a good bachelorette...which I agree with based on the show's formula. In the end, though, we may just get one of the biggest love stories out of this show. I'm sure Fleiss is quite happy with that! :Nod:

Yes, I see your point. And if I take that into account then Yes, she may very well be talking about JP. I stayed unspoiled up until after the fifth episode, so maybe I might just notice other things too. I don't know. I just can't help but remember that she said she saw no-one up until the 4th episode, when she opened her eyes without Bentley around. So, to me, she didn't start going in any direction until the fourth episode. I just try to stay objective. It's just my opinion.

I guess it all depends on whether you believe the Bentley drama was mostly made up or not. I personally think she was into him and he was her initial F1, but much of it probably was overblown. I don't think she was obsessed over him while he was gone. Most of the Bentley mentions were voice overs. She looked genuinely tearful and upset to me in her ITM when she said Bentley was the only one she saw in the ending in episode 3, so I don't know.

Anyway, she said she was 95% sure by HTDs, so we'll have to look carefully at what she says on those.

I agree, I think the hometown dates will reveal more information. Honestly, I am a Ben fan, but that's because "I" prefer the sweetness. I cannot deny the passion I see with JP. But, personal experience, hot fades and then what do you do?? That is strictly my opinion. I just see Ben as a lifer. But, that is just my personal romantic belief.

I also keep thinking about the fact that she says in her intro that she is ready for her fairytale. And then this past episode we hear Ben saying that this is just like a fairytale. Clues, drama, editing, etc. Who knows....I just think it was sweet that they are both looking for their fairytale ending. It would be nice. But, of course, there is always the bachelor/ette reunions. LOL They have produced a number of successful couples.

I believe, as you, that she was truly into Bentley. It was very understanding and sweet of JP to listen and help her out of the Bentley drama. To me, he got cheated out of the 1:1, because she was focused on her feelings of Bentley. And truly you have to admire him for taking it on the cuff, and still turning it into a good date. I really think that is why she wanted to tell him privately about the Bentley situation, because he was there for the beginning of her Bentley breakdown.

So, I consider Ashley to have been Bentley driven for the first, at least, 3 episodes. She was just trying to turn a corner in the 4th episode. I truly believe this season didn't really begin until the 4th episode. It may be an unpopular belief, but "if" she truly was into Bentley, it is my logical assumption. I am sure we all know what assume means?? LOL So, JMHO, if you take the show from the episode where Bentley is at least out of sight. The fourth episode is where we begin. And, yes, I think the VO's were overdone. I think that she truly started her search in episode 4. I don't believe that she was so hung up on Bentley that she couldn't exist. I think they over-played the Bentley saga with VO and PI's. So, if I take the story from episode 4, I think I see both boys running neck and neck. One for the emotions and the other for the passion. I think she is going to be torn. It just depends on how she sees herself. If she is off the wall serious about family and home life. Settling down. I think she will go with Ben. If she is still at the point in her life where she just "wants to see", then she very well could pick JP.....because he is a mystery, and frankly, passion is a really good thing. It just depends. I am still on the fence, I think either way she goes, Ashley has a very great couple of guys to choose from. Either way, she can't go wrong. The FRC is just going to be heartbreaking, because I think they both fall extremely hard.

Interesting take on a possible reason she may have told JP about Bentley, if he's not the one she ends up picking. I'm 99% positive she'll pick JP, but there's that 1% that nags at me and thinks she might pick Ben. Every time I think there's a Ben clue, a JP clue seems to pop up. LOL.

This really will be one of the more heartbreaking finales. I think both these guys are more into the lead than any other season I've watched, in my opinion. I'll be sad either way it goes.

bluwavz, I completely agree. Both the F2's are completely into her. It is really up to her with what she goes with. She has two completely great guys. It just depends on what she wants at the time.

Frankly, both of her men are outstanding. It just depends on her. I hate to see either one of these guys hurt. You are right, both men are completely outstanding (JMHO). This is a unique season. To me, personally, and I know it's a show, but both these guys are extremely invested.

At this point, she has two great guys who are totally into her. I just hope, that she makes the right decision for her. I'm not stupid, I know these things rarely work out. But, I am inspired by the Trista and Ryan and the Ali and Roberto's of the world. Honestly, if she chooses the way of her heart, I believe that we are seeing a success story in the bachelor/ette franchise.

I think producers may have picked up on some energy between JP and Ashley even while she was supposedly fixated on Bentley. They knew he wasn't serious and when he left, they sent JP - not Ben or one of the other guys - for the home 1on1 date. He was exactly what she needed. She did have strong feelings for him which is why she kept questioning him. She liked him enough to be afraid that he was going to leave her whereas with Ben, she felt he liked her right away. He has the look she wants and he is an "easy way out." I think they totally exaggerated the Bentley effect then threw in JP's 'jealousy' problem as another red herring. She's saying what many of us have already said. Both she and JP are totally inept at hiding their feelings so they've had to edit around them to make the show interesting. Ben is funny and sweet and we all love him as she does but JP is the one who makes her feel safe and comfortable. It's not just that she and JP have physical chemistry, there is a level of honesty and trust they have for one another. They've both been bursting at the seams to spill some information that could have backfired on them. Whatever happened in Hong Kong, JP is 95% convinced that the game is over and it's time for them to go home and move it forward.

Even now, with this interview and Ashley saying that it's obvious, I think she may be so sick of being attacked that she doesn't care anymore - especially now JP is being attacked and labeled as some jealous psycho.

By Ashley's blog of episode 3, both Ali and Trista picked up on something that reminded them of their relationships with Roberto and Ryan. I was also sold at that point too. Ashley has sacrificed enough for this season given her public humiliation. I don't think she is working with TPTB to throw us off at this point.

Great Post. I agree , JP wanted to go home to the US and start his life with Ashley after HK. Do you think ILY were exchanged during HK date and the reason for that funny face during his PI on ep 6 while talking abt the date?

As much as I like to argue a point and debate the outcome. I feel you may have hit the nail on the head. I love both of these guys for her. I truly think both will bring out a side to her that she doesn't even know. But, the bottom line is....she connected with JP over her heartbreak of Bentley. Even though I love Ben to death and hate to see him hurt, I can agree that JP provides the qualities she is looking for.

I think he might have said it. When he tells her "... when you feel this way about someone, it changes everything" he's obviously referring to something we missed. He must have told her ILY or something very close. I don't think she could say it back out loud but given how 'close' they are I think she probably gave some signal back that made him think she felt the same way. Even with that assurance, though, she still has to go on dates and interact with guys who like her (though I'm sure he is convinced that no one likes her as much as he does) and that provides the slim chance that she could change her mind about him which was why he was freaking out.

Not a knock on JP --- but I still marvel that someone/anyone can say "ILY" so quickly. Guess the "love" is different from what it will be when spoken months/years down the road....

I'm pretty sure she said "could come" from hanging in there. All leads have said misleading things to the f2 person. They have to no matter how kind they are.

I'm not reading as much into this interview. Ashley said she knew early on but then went on to talk about knowing mostly by the HTD's which are episode 8. Early could be episode 4 after Bentley left and that's when Ben came into her horizon as Happyntexas said. I don't believe we can discount her feelings for Bentley. Ashley said she really wasn't focusing on JP on their 1st date because of it and felt bad. That says a lot.

As for being obvious, don't forget that Ashley's watching the show through the filter of knowing what she was feeling at the time while we're seeing what Fleiss wants us to see. Her job is to keep us guessing so kind of doubt she's giving us the f1 on a platter. This is silly but I'd even say that because she said shaved before long hair that it's more likely that Ben is f1 because she's not going to give away her f1 by saying him first.

I honestly don't give the idea that her choice was obvious from the beginning much credit. She clearly was hung up on Bentley originally, so like evey other Bachelorette she is trying to make her F1 feel better in these interviews by making it seem like she only had eyes for him from the very beginning.

The problem with this show is that the leads can say that all they want, but they still have to endure their chosen one seeing totally different things on their TV screen every Monday night. Some F1s handle it well (Roberto for example) and other clearly don't (it obviously bothered Emily a great deal to watch Brad say the same exact things to the other ladies that she thought were only for her)

Ashley didn't say too much to Bentley. She was obsessing after he was gone based on a crock of BS. I think her whole so called fixation with him was based soley on him leaving with a dot, dot, dot and her thinking that perhaps he was the only one there she would like and who would like her back. She hadn't got to know him at all. Despite still wondering "what if" after he was gone, she connected to JP the same night Bentley left based on something real and not in her head. Bentley or not, in the next episode, she was rolling around on the beach in the rain w/JP and in PIs giving far more information than I needed to know about how attracted she was to him ... and I think that was after she had her little ruh roh pecks with Ben. LOL!
