I think I've heard even the more fame-whorish contestants (who are seeking a huge effect on their lives from this show) comment on how this show changes your life in a way that you really don't expect it to... I don't think it's that easy to discount the media dynamic based on the 'realness' of a couple...I am not really familiar with past couples but I think it was Meredith (?) who had an issue with the media... depending on what kind of individual you are (thick skinned/pressure affects u etc..) each person in a couple would react in a way that their personality compels them to to this media attention ...for people like Emily it was the breaking point as she didn't even know who to trust around her anymore...for couples like Alibearto jason and molly they handle it gracefully...
i'm not discounting media involvement, I'm talking only about the show. Jill had ample information through the media that Ed was a dawg - she stuck with him anyway. Then there was the Roberto was a player stuff - did that affect Ali? A couple who are real, and really want it to work don't allow media involvement to split them up.
ah Emily - we'll never really know what the final straw was - I find it very suspicious that she puts blame on the media for their relationship not lasting. I'll say it til I'm blue in the face - a true couple who want a relationship to work will make it happen, and not let outside forces influence that - blaming outside forces is a cop out.
Brad and Emily started their relationship with a big complication which it doesn't appear they really ever addressed, that had nothing to do with the media, and that was how a man who can't leave Austin and a woman who would only be willing to leave Charlotte once she is totally sure the relationship will work because of her daughter, are ever going to spend enough time together to become sure of anything. On top of this, it also appears that their differing lifestyles, stemming from the very different places in their respective lives each was at, were not going to be very easy to mesh without lots of compromise and sacrifice, which neither seemed willing to make after just a few months. The media only made things more volatile, and maybe they would have lasted 6 months without its involvement, rather than 3, but the problems that they couldn't overcome had little to do with the media.

She must be talking about Ryan. Much as I like him, I suspect he will leave with a sad little smile (but still a smile!) and Ashley will cry buckets. Or maybe not, but I had to snark a little. He's hurt but smiles; she's giving him the boot, but crying about it. *sigh* Prove me wrong, Ashley!

Don't forget how persistent and insistent Laurel was in the mix too. It would be one thing if she was just some fling or one of the women he was dating. RS had texts between them and so did Dr. Phil. 8 years is a long time. he was older than Emily is now when he and Laurel started dealing with each other. He went back to her after the first time he was on the show and also started calling DeAnna as well. Brad just wasn't convincing as being ready for Emily, a child or even a relationship that could work because he's yet to have one. She was picking apart every episode watching him say the exact same things to all of the women as he was saying to her and felt like one of the pack. Who'd move for that?

Jesse C. already tweeted that one guy leaves crying, so I think it will be very emotional on the rejection tonight.LucyVP wrote:She must be talking about Ryan. Ashley may cry too, because I think she hates to hurt anyone.

I don't think Lucas will be leaving in tears as he was just starting to connect. Ryan has been in her face like a little dog since the first night and she acted as though she was interested. I think, though, between JP and Ben, she was starting to see that she doesn't feel that way about him at all and it was far better to let him go BEFORE the HTDs than afterwards. She's definitely going to feel bad and guilty as perhaps she should have let him go once she realized she didn't even want to kiss him but he tried so hard to let her know how he felt about her vs the guys who were too shy or who wanted her to approach them.
I'll get ready for some tears and drama.
