Re: Testing
Update:
You will see a + at the end of the string of button's in a post. If you click it, it changes to a thumbs up and also indicates the number of likes.
It can be used, but I'm still working on it.

Re: Testing
Alrighty then. After I don't know how much time spent on the like button, servers gone missing, new servers, new scripts and pretty much, more white hair, guess who's back!? The original Like button is back. If anyone has any problems, let me know.
It's there to use. If you don't agree with having a like button, you certainly don't have to use it. It isn't a popularity contest at all. At times it's easier to like a post rather than repeating what others may have already said.
This is a feature that has been asked for many times. It is one of the first things I checked into last year. forumotion didn't have the option or the scripts required to install it. officeRules informed me they now have a like button available. Thanks oR for mentioning it.
After much searching to accommodate the right one for our forum version, I installed it and everything was fine. Then several days later, the server that was hosting the script shut down. Back to the drawing board. I was able to find another script (thumbs up) and play with that one to fit our forum.
Today, one of the script writers found another server to host the original script, and now we are back to normal. Thanks for everyone's patience!
Have fun!

Thanks GA! You have the patience of Jobe. Personally, I like the 'like'.

Re: Testing
Thank you GA. I like this version better than the original since you stay on the same page and don't have to go back. And like you, I think it is easier to just like a post that having to quote and repeat over and over the same post telling people how much you agree with something.

Re: Testing
Question: Do we have a way of knowing who "liked" our post(s). I should just be glad to have the "like" button back, but I am curious.
TIA.

Re: Testing
That's a whole different process where a database has to be extracted from the forum and without getting technical, it associates the likes to the posters username.
After examining it in detail, and reviewing the end result, I decided I won't follow up with that feature.
IMO keeping it simple is best and eliminates any potential animosity. JMHO

GA for all your hard work. I "like" the "like" feature just the way it is now.

GA -- Thanks for your reply. I guess you are right in your thinking....we don't need any animosity in this forum. I have fled from a couple of forums because of bad-mouthing posters and do so appreciate the diligence of you and the other mods in keeping this a great place to come to.

On my iPad at the moment and the "like" button has reverted back to the plus/minus bar on the side. Anyone else?
