I've caught up on the other threads and see that this topic has been discussed to death, but I still think that even joking, it says something about his attitude that he seems to WANT (or need?) to tell the other guys how well he's doing, whereas he could easily keep those comments to himself, like Josh is, and many other front runners have in past seasons.  Validation or strategy?  Either way, he is really going to wind up looking like the fool when Andi doesn't pick him (IMO), which is exactly what the editors are going for.

I get the strategy of him seeking out extra time with Andi at the expense of the other guys. I don't get how rubbing it in the guys faces is a strategy. It's showing off/rubbing it in their faces/p*ssing them off, but I don't see how he thinks that is in any way a strategy to help him win Andi. Then again, I'm not a guy and who knows what he is thinking.

I think the clue hit him in the head...hard... as he started to watch the show and he sees now what they did to goad/manipulate him and why. He realizes that he will be this seasons sacrificial lamb to MeAndi and the producers. I suspect he is none too happy and feeling rather foolish at this point, but I'm sure his brothers in arms will help him through this difficult time...not to mention, probably more than a few of the ladies of Chicago.

Thanks for you perspective Sprite... not to sound like Nick   but can you give me an example of how he's rubbing his extra time in the guys' faces?

His comments about marrying Andi on a mountain are made in a PI... not like he's saying it directly to the guys... and really, even if he was, to sdmom's point, he's referencing a movie that they are likely familiar with.

I do agree that he's getting a crash course in television editing and the effects it can have... Maybe there is some embarrassment, but also acceptance. Either way, I'm enjoying him 'clarifying' his sarcasm.... along with the support of his fellow band of brothers...

He made those comments directly to Brian, not in a PI, and Brian probably told the others,which is maybe what Nick intended if this is indeed his strategy to put the others off their game by making them feel insecure about their own relationship with Andi, which"pales" in comparison to what he has with her, or so he says.  He could just be a blabbermouth who can't hold it in (Josh said in a different clip he can't stand listening to him anymore, so I don't doubt Nick talks a lot) or he could be trying to psych the rest out which is strategy.  All I know is it annoyed them all(the last five who spent the most time with him) somewhat at the time, regardless of what good buddies they are now that they are no longer competing, and especially after Eric's tragedy made them realize not to sweat the small stuff, I expect.

Good post!! Also, they're buddy buddy now because he didn't win and they all know the edit is setting him up for a major fail. It would be nice if he can own up to being a jerk on the show instead of trying to claim it all in his sense of humor but the edit and Andi dragging him along with plenty of encouragement really is probably enough.

Given that none of us has seen the final episode, we aren't certain who Andi picked. So, at this moment any one of the F4 can be the one she is with.

thanks ironcat. I don't know if it was Nick's intention to annoy them (again, what's the evidence?)... but I agree... it definitely was the result. Like you said aside from what looks like some current friction between Josh/Cody and Nick... at this point, there does seem to be a lot of love and forgiveness among the boys.

I think Andi really thought of Nick as her safe choice because she was 99% sure Josh was going to break her heart. So there's no way the lead can technically play anyone, the whole premise of the show is to date all the guys and envision a future with them. And Nick signed on that dotted line.

ITA about being a jerk and then chalking it up to humor. I don't understand how telling someone you are going to marry the girl they like and they'll name their dog after you can be considered humorous, unless your 13 years old and puberty's got you saying silly things. But whatever...

The evidence is that he apparently did it repeatedly, there will never be any PROOF unless Nick confesses that it was his intention.  Like I said, I don't know if it even was, but was only explaining how bragging to the other guys about his incredible connection with Andi, especially when they haven't asked, could be a valid and effective strategy to win, albeit not an admirable one.

Ironcat, I like your explanation using the word blabbermouth.  You are right in that it appears that Nick did a lot of talking about strategy when he was around the guys.  I think that Nick probably tries to analyze things to the extent that it becomes over processing something - especially in the eyes of those guys that he seemed to irritate with his constant talk of what was going to happen next.  That might fly in the workplace, but it definitely did not have the same effect among a bunch of guys who are all vying for the same woman.

When Marcus brought up that Nick had watched the last two seasons (?? I believe), Nick said that he wanted to see what he was getting himself into.  I get the idea that Nick likes to analyze things, to get a read on his competition, because it gives him more control over the situation and the outcome.  I think that this is something that he has used out in the business world and has been very successful in getting the results that he wanted.  But, in this environment, he could feel that had no real control over things.

I do think that Nick is watching this now, seeing how his words are being used against him, no matter what his true intentions were.  And I suspect that this part of the experience might turn into a positive for him - in that it is sometimes any eye opener to see yourself on film (video).  I know that it was for me when my son was little.  It showed me jumping in and answering questions FOR my son - like he could not do it for himself, which was very detrimental for him.  I was unaware that I was even doing that and stopped doing it immediately after seeing that video.

My point is this.  I don't think that Nick is a bad person either.  I also don't know HOW he meant those things that are sounding like "digs" at the competition.  I, too, hope that he will address some of this at the AFTR, at least to a small extent.  It might help to take some of the sting out of his words.
