Re: Suggestions for the Forum
I keep going back looking at the contestant threads figuring out the best way to amalgamate them. I think I will put them into the respective category, leaving the popular ones active. Same with Bachelor Bachelorette Fan forum, with Emily Jeff etc, those are not necessary.albean99 wrote:Thanks, Kasha. I always wanted to be royalty.
Just want to say I'm not a fan of the "fan" threads. I think they've gotten excessive. Maybe we can just keep the couples threads as long as they're popular and the most recent f2 or 3. For example the guys from Des' season don't need fan threads anymore. They can have a thread in the normal place.
I'm not going to post all my pm from Amberish but wanted to share this part:Amberish wrote:I do have one suggestion that might help to make a difference. On broadcast nights, do as they learned to do at FORT and keep everyone in one (or maybe two if you also need "unspoiled") thread until all time zones finish viewing.
I had always thought locking up everything else had to do with not having to put out multiple fires, but have come to realize it was probably designed to prevent precisely what happens here, meaning the reinforcement of fangirls only congregating at their respective lovefest corners and continuing the dominating 'them vs everyone else, private club' discussions.
Putting everyone in the same thread --- just on those nights --- might help enormously with gaining back a "we are one" community feeling.
It might not be a bad idea. I hadn't really thought about it that way but it is more fun if everyone's commenting in one thread. Didn't Fort have a west coast thread also?
I like the idea of locking the threads! Can mod's lock threads? What do we do for west coast? I could never stay up that late.

Re: Suggestions for the Forum
I could see the fan threads being implemented to avoid the fighting and bickering. I don't have a problem with fan threads, if there's a problem I just delete, as I did this morning in the Chris Des thread. I don't know who that poster is that always says negative things about this couple, sounds like a jealous lover Entertaining at the very least.Kashathediva wrote:I think Amber's suggestion is EXCELLENT!!!
I am so glad you shared this Bean!!
If I am not mistaken the majority of fan threads were started due to the problems we had when this forum grew so fast and members did not realize this forum was primarily started as a spoiler/sleuthing board vs a fan board(which unfortunately is in the site name).
On the board's inception, I do not believe there were any threads devoted for "fans" only and could only focus on koolaid and rainbow sprinkle teacakes.
I think fan threads were started to appease those members who could not deal with snark against the fan favs or anything that ran to the unpleasant.
I'm pretty sure you're right Kasha, the people who can't deal with snark need their own little place where they can gush over their favourites.

Re: Suggestions for the Forum
IA, I don't mind the fan threads. I think the active ones can remain on the front of the forum, Sean/Cat Des/Chris etc but as far as the others, I've been looking through them constantly, looking at the number of posts, and how active they are. They don't need to be where they are right now. There are so many threads attached to threads, I think the easiest thing to do is move the discussion one into the respective catagory, Couples or Contestants, and the rest goes into locked catagory. Just my thoughts.Bet2Win wrote:Kasha, I can't remember when the fan threads started. The contestant threads are where the fans initially congregate here (as well as FORT when sleuthing was allowed), and dissention would occur when a member would post something critical in the contestant thread.
There have always been threads that remain open for updates post-season, and I'm not sure when the "update" threads were converted to fan threads. Even during Emily's season, the contestant threads were not fan threads, until post-season.
I don't mind the post-season fan threads , that way at least the fangirling doesn't find it's way into other threads with second by second updates. Sleuthers usually move one once the season is completed. My question is, how long do we keep the fan threads open? Always, until interest declines, until the next season of TB or B'ette?

Re: Suggestions for the Forum
Yes mods can lock or unlock threads, GA. Are any of our mods in Pacific time?
I don't mind the fan threads that are used although can't stand going in most of them. I just don't think we need as many as we have and it looks like you're doing something about them.

I don't know if any of our mods are on Pacific time. I can't remember how Fort handled that, I never paid attention. I think the conversations just carried on in the episode threads, but would Andi's threads get locked until West coast was finished airing? 11pm to 1am? Eastern
We would have to make sure there was a mod around to open them up after airing.

Re: Suggestions for the Forum
If I'm remembering right they had 2 episode threads with one for the west coast. I'm in Central and the show is 7-9 here and looks like it's 8-10 PST so I'm out for unlocking threads. We'd need either Bet or night owls to agree before we can decide. We have some time so maybe wait to see what others think.

Re: Suggestions for the Forum
I'm a little torn about how we should handle the tragic death of Eric Hill. I only knew because Atem posted something on another thread that was later deleted. It is a spoiler so understand why it can't be in the non-spoiler threads but it may be something people would want to know. I also think it will get out since ABC has already released the news. Maybe something like this could be posted in the general contestants thread:
There has been a tragic accident involving one of the Bachelors on Andi's season. Please don't click on the spoiler box unless you want to know because just knowing who it is tells you that he's off the show.

- Spoiler:
Eric Hill, a contestant on Andi Dorfman's upcoming season of The Bachelorette, died Wednesday after his parachute collapsed while paragliding in Utah over the weekend. He was 31.
"Eric shared his final journey with us this morning as all his immediate family were able to be at his side when he passed away," his sister Karen Tracy posted on Facebook.
The accident occurred on Sunday and he had been in a coma, his family said. (click the link for the rest of the story)

Re: Suggestions for the Forum
I caught those posts and deleted them. To be honest, I rarely go in the non spoiler thread but just so happened to peek in there. Then I got a pm from someone, in the Brook's thread, mentioning the passing of Eric.
As soon as I deleted all those posts, next thing I know, the ABC link is posted announcing it.
I think that's a good idea bean, go ahead and post that.

I saw that. I posted the notice in the general thread because it would be too obvious if it were in Eric's.
