Bachelorette 10 Filming Schedule - *Spoilers & Sleuthing* - Discussion

So sad and tragic news about Eric. It will be interesting how TPTB edit this because up to this point most of the general public does not know that he was on Andi's season as the contestants names have not been officially released. When they are released, how will this play out. Because of this tragedy we will know that he was sent home before the show finished. So how will TPTB spin this when the contestants names are released and it will be figured out that Eric obviously did not stay as one of Andi's final suitors. I pray they do it very tastefully.

It will not be cancelled, nor should it.
As horrible and sad as this is---it is a part of life. We don't cancel "life" when something bad happens. We find the appropriate way to go on. And hopefully the network and franchise will take the high road in dealing with this situation and do the same.

Agreed. Obviously, they are going to have to address it early, since Eric had the first 1/1 date. Since this occurred right before the FD's, I wouldn't be able to go frolicking on FD's under these circumstances. In some ways, it would be best if they didn't tell Andi and the F3's; but how would they play out the rest of the season without looking like insensitive asswipes if they continue on their merry way in normal TB fashion.

If they do tell Andi and the F3's, I don't know how they themselves continue on with enthusiasm, laughing, swimming, etc.

Yeah agreed with the above. Hopefully TPTB figure out a nice way to handle all of this.  :Frown: 

I don't want to be in producer's shoes with that decision, how to handle it.  When do you mention it?  Ideally, from a strict story perspective, you let the story evolve as it did in real time, being careful of the man's edit, and let the tragedy enter the story when it actually occurred.  But that might tick off some people (although no matter how they handle it, it will tick off some people), and is that what the family wants?  This is one case where I could see a forewarning about a tragedy this season and for once they wouldn't be exaggerating.  Would something along these lines be appropriate? "This season's cast also faced a devastating loss, and we have been conflicted about how to handle this factor on TV.  In the end, we decided to let the story tell itself, in the order and way it actually happened."

Yeah, scratch that.  You have to tell the viewers upfront, and then let the story unfold as a tribute.  

Oh, shoot, I have no idea.  It is a very sad situation and you don't want it exploited but you also have to remember that this was a guy into self-promotion at least on some level (or he wouldn't have done the show and the globe thing), and what he would have wanted may not be what you or I would have wanted.

They don't. You film real life, of being people trying to find balance when life throws you a curve ball at an inconvenient time. Let them talk about it, and how they feel. It would be real, at least. BUT, that will depend, I think, on what Eric's family and friends think he would have wanted. Would he have wanted to be part of the story, one last public adventure, or not? Whatever is chosen, I hope it honors who he was, and his way of living.

As cruel as this sounds, and I certainly do not mean it to be such, I do not think TPTB are going to let this news travel to the remaining cast.
I think they are going to try to bubble them and let the "journey" continue as it would without this influence, since it is not immediate family to any of the remaining. (again, I hate to trivialize a tragic death as an "influence", my sincere apologies)
Then, as cast are released into the real world again--- a handler/etc will deal with that person and the info. I believe they have mental health counselors on staff.

IA, I think they will bubble them as well, it's not cruel, it's reality. Andi has to continue, and with this news, it would be very difficult for her to deal with at this point in production. To add to that, we don't know the circumstances of his departure, only that it wasn't pleasant. If the unpleasantness has anything to do with her, it would worsen the situation for her. For example if they argued, and that was the last conversation she had with him.

By the time it airs, everyone will know, the remaining contestants, and Andi herself. It was in the media today, so even the general viewers who aren't normally spoiled will know.

They will have had some time to digest it all, and I would think the general viewer's, not to mention his family might "expect" some sort of tribute explanation or something during the premiere. Thoughts?

I can see at several key times during the season--prior to the premier's immediate airing as a personal note --maybe at the end of the first epi(meat and geek)--maybe as the credits roll each epi Eric is featured in, some type of memorial statement. Even if at the end of each epi he is featured in to be simply his name Eric Hill with birthdate and date of death.
I can see Eric's accident and subsequent death being a 15 minute segment/tribute during MTN.

GuardianAngel, I would think the matter of a tribute would depend on what their feelings are about his manner of departure, their view of the show is in general, or whatever their preferred way of mourning is.
