DWTS Season 18 - Discussion - *Spoilers*

Does it seem like they have cut down on the amount of traditional ballroom dances this season?

I can't believe not many people know her...but she is from Abby Lee Miller Dance Company....and The popular Lifetime show, Dance Moms

I have a different opinion that will not be very favorable. I really do not like Maks and his attitude. He just seems to be very rude. IMO he should have just taken Abby's advice without getting an attitude about it and then the score probably would have been better.

I admire Derek and his choreography. He seems to always make his partners look good (or he just simply gives them the right moves to do that suit tem and that make them shine.) I am rooting for him once again! I also like most of the other couples too. JMO

Sanlee I agree! While I really don't like Abby from Dance Moms and think she shouldn't be teaching children at all, Maks comes off as a huge baby sometimes, and disrespectful too, even to his 'own' judges. So I expected nothing less from him than to go off on Abby. 

But I enjoyed it a little, because I can't stand her.  

San, I agree, Derek is by far the best choreographer on the show. I just don't like them giving Amy scores higher than she deserves. I think she has done incredibly, but not counting off for lifts and her lack of footwork for the waltz left a bad taste in my mouth.

I like Maks with Meryl, I like the side she brings out in him. I didn't like him with many of his other partners and he can be very arrogant and rude.

I don't like Abby Lee and found her judging to be so off anyway, that I didn't mind him ignoring her. I agreed with both Carrie Lee and Len that the routine lacked a lot of Rumba in it and had no problem with the 9s, because of that. I felt that both Maks and Abby Lee were wrong, him to say what he did and her petty 8 because of it.

I think I am routing for Meryl because she is kind of the "ugly duckling" in all the attention Charlie and Tanith get. I like that she is the one shining here. I also like watching a hot guy like Maks fawn all over her.

I so agree with you about both Abby Lee and Maks being wrong. I love Meryl and Charlie together and don't understand why they're not a couple. Charlie being with Tanith and Meryl as far as I've heard has no boyfriend makes me feel bad for her so yeah, I love the idea of Maks fawning all over her. Though I think that it wouldn't be wise for her to hook up with him. I can't help but think about the song she chose for her memorable year. Although, she didn't say Charlie's name it was obviously dedicated to him. I've also seen Charlie's reactions after Meryl and Maks dances and methinks he might be a bit jealous, especially when the judges say that Meryl and Maks are perfect partners and have insane chemistry. There has got to be more to that relationship than what they insist it is. Can't wait for the show tonight!

Meryl, Charlie and Candace are the reason why I look forward to Mondays this season.  Hoping they will be in the finals and that Meryl and Maks win.

Wow, what spectacular performances! I love to watch them Ice dance and their interviews. Such amazing duo! Thanks for sharing.

I do agree that Derek's choreography is outstanding, probably the best of all of the pros ever on this show,but I still would like someone else to win. I think Maks and Meryl are the most deserving to win this season. Meryl has brought something out in Maks that in all the seasons I've been watching has never happened before. He has been truly inspired by her and his choreography has been amazing to watch.

I think Maks says things that the others wish they had the guts to say. He may have been out of line at times, but sometimes I think he's justified. Some of the comments the judges make are way over the top. There's a difference between constructive criticism and just ripping on the "stars" and being flat out mean. That's the one thing Maks has always been vocal about, make your judging comments constructive, and specific.

Thanks guys for your responses! I do like Meryl as she seems like the underdog and she is good! I just do not like Maks, but that won't be the reason why I would not want them to win. Honestly I do like all who is left. I am also really looking forward to tonight!

ITA with the judges in that Derek's choreography is amazing! I loved him with all of his partners especially Shawn Johnson!

Sanlee, I think Derek is amazing too, and Amy's quickstep was truly awesome, but no way should she or Candace be in the final over Charlie.

I do blame Sharna for Charlie leaving though, I actually felt they had no chemistry and she didn't really help him with moving better. Tonight his samba reminded me of Evan and his hip issues, Anna worked really hard with that, and Sharna just tried to blow it off.

I am still pissed Charlie should have had Cheryl as a partner, she would have gotten him to the finals. Ugh, I think Amy can dance and actually deserved the finals more than Candace, but I am so pissed.

Disappointed my cutie pie Charlie went home, I thought he deserved to stay over Candace. But she's a class act too, and I like her.
I loved Maks and Meryl's Viennese Waltz, I had to rewind it and watch it over ( not just once but 3 times   )
James and Peta looked so thrilled and happy to make the cut. Is there something going on between these two? I've never seen Peta so stressed about making it to the finals.
Amy's quickstep was cool. I'm not understanding her jazz though. While I thought the choreography was unique I don't know how how you could compare the content of that to the other dances.
