My bolded sentence is exactly the reason why I don't believe Chris and Des will have a tv wedding. Besides, their book sales are good, so they can more than afford to pay for the "small, intimate, private" that they want.soccermom333 wrote:grace8136 wrote:You read my mind bleuberry.
I just think it's a practical solution to get a televised wedding for Chris and Des. I think they do care about ratings because they completely threw Chris and Des under the bus for ratings. They had to know the end result would be fewer fans for Des. Not sure why RS would say ratings don't matter. It seems like all they care about.
I'm just worried it will never air, but SM, I always appreciate your optimism!
I think what RS means is of course ratings are important. That's why they ended the season the way they did. Everyone was thrown under the bus....hence the "most dramatic ending ever!!" And it really was!! Everyone was fooled by the spoilers!! Everyone will always remember Des's season. So yes I definitely think they will televise her wedding!! No brainer. Maybe ratings were slow at first , but like RS says that does not matter. Everyone loves weddings and they will televise it if they can agree on a contract. Where, when how etc. free advertising for the show!!

Thank you! Also, Chris and Des have said they want a summer wedding, so I don't see it being in November/December, and I also do not see it happening on tv either! If Des is smart, she could go with life & Style network (like Nick and Vanessa), and forget about ABC. I hate what they did to Chris and Des season....period.Iploeg wrote:Have said this before and I'll say it again. You guys will just have to be patient about Des and Chris' wedding. It's fun to speculate because you all want nothing else for them, but there is NO double wedding. Not even to help Des and Chris with ratings. Their love just like Sean and Cat's will hopefully only grow stronger by next summer. Then they'll embark on negotiations and planning for their wedding. They might actually have their wedding around November/ December as that has been the timeline so far for all tptb weddings.

I hope it was the Oregon families and friends and they convince then to have a private, away from tv wedding. I am holding fast to no tv wedding.soccermom333 wrote:grace8136 wrote:Do you think the timing means anything or would they have an engagement party this far before a summer wedding?
Guess Dan didn't get married this weekend. Maybe that is next weekend. And I still wonder when his sister is getting married.
I am curious about Dan's wedding and his sisters wedding. But remember, we were not sure if his sisters wedding was in October or November, and whether des designed the veil or not.
It is obvious to me this was a party for THEM! I think this is an engagement party thrown by his family and friends and not by abc. I remember Jillian and Ed had a party thrown by friends. I know Jason and Molly had a party and abc was there and they filmed them telling their families of the date. Remember Molly and Jason were engaged in the fall, I believe October or November and they started filming things right away.
Des and Chris had a fantastic fun weekend!! So happy for them!

Aren't there only like 6 months or something between engagements? This whole 'my couple is better than your couple' is a little odd. God forbid someone suggest a back to back TV special with both couples, and someone has their panties in a knot.
hahahaha!
But in all seriousness, it is a no brainer. Abc pays for the wedding, an expensive one, and pays the couple too. Who wouldn't go for it?? Weddings are expensive.
Weddings do not have to be "expensive!" Many couples are opting for smaller, intimate weddings and investing their money in a home, or saving it (especially in thee tough economic times). Also, as old as I am, I would not go for any tv wedding....period.

Of course not all weddings cost the same but even a small intimate wedding cost money. If abc pays the couple say $75,000 which is what I believe Jason and Molly got, that is a nice down payment on a house. Plus, the wedding is paid for. Flowers, food, music (matt white haha) location etc. I think it is great Chris and des want to keep it intimate but if I had to guess, they would go for having it televised if they could. As long as they could work out an appropriate contract with ABC. I think it might be cool to see a televised "intimate" wedding. It's never been done. I would not fault them in the least. This way his parents and her parents AND their bank account, are spared. ;)MMA50 wrote:Weddings do not have to be "expensive!" I'm pretty sure that Des and Chris are contractually obligated by MF to have his company televise the wedding with ABC if they decide to go the televised wedding route. They would not be able to shop the wedding out to other networks. It's either ABC and MF or a private wedding they pay for out of pocket.MMA50 wrote:Thank you! What will Matt White do? He sang at JP/Ash's. I DEMAND to hear another round of "All our friends are gettin' married and they're happy and they're sappy even though they might be feeling so old" on primetime... or else! (I also wish they put the season out on DVD even if through the Warner Archive like they did with Ash's.)MMA50 wrote:And I hope they never get married on tv.soccermom333 wrote:I think what RS means is of course ratings are important. We don't need cameras following them to the honeymoon. It is unlikely the bachelorette party will be as rowdy as Trista's. Just have Becky Siegfried gush a bit in PI sessions like our beloved "like-minded" Ilene Rosenbaum (without her lasagna... she was always my favorite Mommy on these shows) and tattooed Nate grumble reluctant support like tattooed Chystie did.
