Just the way they looked at each other then and now tells the story.soccermom333 wrote:With all due respect I totally disagree. The ending was amazing and was very much like real life. The proposal was ine if the best from this show ever!relaxing wrote:I think Brooks was pulling back or at least staying still but Des wasn't. Brooks will always be one of my favorite "characters" to come out of this show because he handled the whole thing like such a real person. I could see myself and many others in his process. It's the most normal reaction I can think of.
The breakup was one of the most real scenes this show has ever produced, IMO? It didn't seem scripted, reshot or fake to me at all. Des said what came to mind, that's why some of it was so gut-wrenching and inappropriate towards the other guys. They both seemed truly completely drained and defeated by the whole thing.
In retrospect I wish that had been the end of the show. Spoilers and episodes show Brooks as her choice. Real and heartbreaking breakup scene happens. Surprise ending - she fell for a guy who didn't fall back, but was a good guy. She tells the other guys she's in no condition to carry on. The end. very sad and shocking, big ratings and water cooler talk for TPTB.
Then at ATFR she and Chris appear together and tell viewers how they started a relationship back in real life and are very much in love. This would have made me so happy for Des that she found love with a great guy and I think I'd feel much more invested in them and their story. Like a happy ending came out of the ashes of such a sorrowful finale. Great T.V. The way it happened though was just so icky to me. I felt sorry for Des and Chris that a beautiful proposal just felt wrong and silly. I felt like Chris was getting scammed. If the breakup hadn't come across as so real, maybe not such an issue to me as a viewer, but it did and it rendered the proposal that came after it a real downer.
I'm happy for Des and Chris in real life, but the ending of the show, as a piece of tv entertainment, sucked big time for me.
They are extremely happy and the ending showed their joy and love for one another. People saw it and FELT it. They are the real deal and one if the few real relationships to come off the show. You could see the clarity on her face on her last dates with Chris. It is not like she turned to whoever was standing there and said oh how about you. Their relationship has grown so much post show. Their love grew even stronger. You can see the happiness in their eyes and I for one wish them nothing but the best and can't wait to see what the future holds for them !! :cutesmile!:
Bottoms line is brooks did her a favor. I respect him for staying true to his feelings through the process. He was honest and that is something to respect.
Happy that fans can have a discussion about the topic and still stay respectful to Des, Chris and each other.
As far as the spoilers and the episodes showing that Brooks was her choice, I am going to respectfully disagree with that. I felt that if you stood back and re-watched it all from a neutral position, you could see cracks forming between Brooks and Des and the glue that was taking place between Des and Chris. I truely believe that even if Brooks stayed, she would of taken Chris; He would of been her final choice on the season.
Totally agree auntie!! Best proposal ever. So heartfelt and real. And I bet des and Chris agree too.
Bottom line is they are WAY past the show. So happy for them. They know they are meant to be and Des was right, love always works out the way it is suppose to!
I can't wait to see them at Seancat's wedding.

Re: Chris Discussion Group
It has not been confirmed. Having said that, with each Bachelor wedding, all the other married/engaged/currently together couples have attended. So I fully expect Chris & Des will be at SeanCat's wedding, as will Jason/Molly, Trista/Ryan, and JP/Ashley.MMA50 wrote:Where is it confirmed that Chris and Des is going to Seancat's wedding? Re: Chris Discussion Group
Are they obligated to go, is it written in their contracts that they have to attend another bachelor/bachelorette wedding? Why would happen if they declined the invitation?umngirl wrote:It has not been confirmed. Re: Chris Discussion Group
Since Chris & Des are still under contract they may be obligated to go. Truthfully, I don't know what would happen if they declined. I don't think any couple has declined going before. But since Des has said previously, I believe, that she would go to their wedding I see no reason why they wouldn't.MMA50 wrote:Are they obligated to go, is it written in their contracts that they have to attend another bachelor/bachelorette wedding? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's one year. TPTB also have exclusive rights to the wedding for two years.MMA50 wrote:Thank you for talking with me. Totally agree with you umngirl! Des and Chris will be there. I bet their "new friends" Molly and Jason will too! . Who doesn't like a good wedding? Plus, abc will fly them in and pay for everything. Des is also a friend of cat. She is also in the wedding business too.
I am looking forward to the wedding and know Cat and Sean will look great. I am also looking forward to seeing what "family" members from Bachelor Nation show up.
Has anyone figured out the date yet? Any spoilers??

I won't muddy up this thread with the answers about SeanCat's wedding. When we figure that all out it will be posted in their wedding thread which is starting with the announcement.soccermom333 wrote:Totally agree with you umngirl! Des and Chris will be there. Re: Chris Discussion Group
I agree, I don't think she had a choice about letting him propose. She had a choice on whether to accept or reject, but what kind of choice is that really if she wants to give it a try with Chris? Reject his proposal on national television? When she started to say that she was blind sighted by her feelings for Brooks, he bite his lip and tilted his head, imagine if from there she told him she just wanted to date him. It's not what he wanted. I don't think she was desperate. She was thinking ahead and did what she could to get off the show with their relationship in a hopeful place. Both Chris and Brooks were probably better husband material than her old boyfriends, so why should she lose both? Get off the show in the best possible place for your relationship and then see where it goes. None of these couples are sure after 10 weeks on this show. It's what happens after.Rolly wrote:This is amazing.....we all watched the same show and come away with such different views of what happened. I see this the way relaxing and sprite see it. The proposal made me feel bad, sad for Chris and Des. It did not seem real to me but desperate on Des' part. She didn't want to walk away empty handed so she went with Chris. He was madly in love with her and she had feelings for Chris but she wasn't in love with him at the proposal, she was in love with Brooks. If they had just waited to become engaged, taken some time to decompress and evaluate the situation, sort out their feelings, two months after the end of the show announced that they were engaged that would be believable. Not believable the way it played out. No way would TPTB allowed that to happen and you can bet they applied some pressure.
If Brooks had stayed, he was the one Des wanted. JMO.
I think this discussion is a good one and respectful. In the end we just have to agree to disagree. :campfire:
I also don't think Chris is a fool or a chump, whatever was said. He put his pride aside and stood by her with unconditional love. That makes him a stronger person than most IMO and it seems he was right in his confidence. There is so much we didn't see. Their perspective could be quite different.
When she favorited that tweet about Brooks being "gross" I felt like her closure really came from watching it back. Maybe some resentment about how and when it played out. I don't fault Brooks for being wishy washy in the process, but when CH asked him if he had any regrets in hindsight, I could think of at least one. Protecting her publicly was more important than his honesty that morning. It could have waited until they were alone, so she could have figured out how to end her season. I'm sure TPTB love that these contestants forget they are on a tv show, but it's pretty reckless to forget that little fact.

Re: Chris Discussion Group
I did watch from a neutral position. I wasn't a particular fan of any of them. The cracks between Des and Brooks were evident...not so much the glue between Des and Chris. Yes, she liked him and yes, he was better suited for her, but, given a choice, if Brooks had wanted her, he would have been it. He didn't, so he wasn't. Clearly others saw it differently, but all my friends who watch the show...who are casual viewers and not as obsessive about the show as I am...thought she came across as desparate and they didn't buy the proposal for a second. Doesn't really matter now since things can change post show. They seem to be happy. Good luck to them. I will always be sceptical of how things went down but if they manage to walk down the aisle, then power to them for working through everything!Aunties_Love wrote:I agree, the proposal and the ending was real life.
