Episode 11 (Finale Part 2) - 8/05 - Bachelorette 9 - Discussion - Spoilers

Llisa - i don't want to be spoiled again either. It is super frustrating. Perhpas I'll give the boards another skip like I did for Seans season or stay in the unspoiled threads instead.

Just wanted to put out another thought that quite a few obviously had while watching the finale2 - kept waiting and waiting for a foot, a leg or a knock on the freaking door, something indicating that Brooks was returning but as the clock minutes climbed it seemed less and less likely.
I kept thinking about the sinking hearts of all the spoiler friends out here and realized they were all in for a giant let down. That was a good feeling indeed.

I wasn't looking at the let down. I was just so delighted for those who were either Chris or Drew fans (or even those of us who didn't care either way) because I felt that the treatment of those who didn't fawn over Brooks was ugly just because some didn't go long with the crowd. I never saw the likability of Brooks from night one -- and he was even less of a 'man' last night. But we all know that there will still be some who will think that that greasy haired, childish, effeminate guy who sat first on the couch last night with Desiree will still be adored by many here. And that is OK.

Have to pipe up to say something I've said before, but Brooks fans can't be just painted as people following the spoilers and wanting to root for the winner and ignoring or dismissing the sleuthing.  That's not fair. I almost never root for the spoiled F1, they usually aren't my favorite but Brooks happened to be both.

I fell in love with his character, one of my fave's ever, and I loved watching Des fall for him - which she did.  That's a fact.  So spoilers or not, I would have been the die-hard Bres fan that I was.  Wanting Des to end up in love and with the guy that I was most into.  They're story made the season for me, along Zak and some of the fun group dates.  I could never get into her relationships with Chris or Drew.  I wish her and Chris well.  But without the spoiler, or with a spoiler of Chris F1, I would still have been 100% on the Bres train.

Also, I love the sleuthing. My favorite part of this board. Don't know why you can't be a fan of the spoiled F1 and still appreciative of sleuthing. They're not mutually exclusive.

Hear, hear! I can be gracious in accepting being duped by the spoilers and all that was going on, but I was totally onboard with Brooks from the posting of his ABC bio pic before the season started. No one liked that picture I think but me, and when he stepped out of the limo and the season began, he was the guy I liked best. I was pleasantly surprised to see the spoiler that he was F1. Their first date sold me on them as a couple. And the bolded, same here.

Not everyone should be and is painted with the same brush.  Just a handful of overbearing die-hards.

I am going to watch the finale episode in a few minutes but have already seen that Des and Chris are engaged and Brooks didn't come back for Des. I'm happy that Des found love but I hate it that I believed the spoilers that she was engaged to Brooks and that I've followed their parts in every episode more than the parts with Chris. I didn't really invest a lot in her relationship with Chris because I thought it was going to be Brooks in the end so I haven't really seen the love story developping between Des and Chris. That's what sucks. I'm going to rewatch the season and pay more attention now to Chris and Des instead of Brooks so I can see their love story.

ABC (8.672 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.6, #1) pulled in front on Monday thanks to the two-hour season finale of "The Bachelorette" (8.841 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.6, #1) plus the reunion special "The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose" (8.334 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.5, #T2).

Wow, last night was absolutely crazy and I am so SO thrilled for Des & Chris. I was on the Des & Chris train from early on but because of the spoilers I never allowed myself to completely root for them. Thanks to the East Coast spoilers last night I learned what went down early. I was thrilled to watch all three hours.

Drew's exit was so classy and I was relieved for Drew & Des. It would have been harder for me if Drew had flipped a switch on his character and had a bad exit.

We don't know if Chris and Des will last but I can tell you now,Des looked so happy and cuddly with Chris last night. It was clear to me that she made the right decision. It was also clear to me that Des & Chris only got stronger in three months.

And of course holy awkwardness Batman that was rough to watch Brooks & Des on the ATFR couch.It was so clear right then that Des and Brooks were over and that they never would have worked long term.

And YAY Juan Pablo as next Bachelor!

Those are some great numbers for a Bette season.

8.6 million waiting for Brooks to pop out of the bushes with an engagement ring or crash the set of the ATFR. LOL

Ratings compared to last season

ABC’s The Bachelorette: Lesser of Two Evils finale drew 8.84 million total viewers and a 2.6 demo rating on Monday night, veritably matching the audience for last summer’s question-popping while dropping 16 percent in the demo.

The After the Rose post-mortem (8.33 mil/2.5) similarly slipped 6 and 19 percent year-over-year, yet with double the numbers of any Mistresses episode put a dent in CBS’ Under the Dome, which with 10.2 mil and a 2.5 was down 11 percent.
