Episode 11 (Finale Part 2) - 8/05 - Bachelorette 9 - Discussion - Spoilers

So congrats to those who didnt pay any attention to the spoilers (I was not one of them, totally thought Brooks was coming back) and stuck firm in their belief it was Chris.

Fleiss really pulled a fast one - good for him, a$$h!le that he is

as for the bres fans.. We got Fliessed for sure. MF in is obsessive hate of RS was willing to do what ever necessary to bring him down. No way we would got the real info this time.

Either way, the real relationship starts after the show has finished airing.  It sounds like they are giving it a real shot, to discover if they are actually meant to be.  They have plenty of time to decide if it really isn't.

If they do get married, then we'll know the Brooks thing was old pattern lust that she fortunately got beyond.  I had plenty of those in my dating days, total infatuation for very wrong men.  So very happy that I married the man I did - he really is the love of my life.  But I never went into that crazy infatuation with him; I felt happy and secure with him from day 1.  Sooo very different from my relationships before that.  And sooo much better.  Des used a lot of the "right" words with Chris, but who knows if they were her real thoughts, or producer lines.  If they were her real thoughts, they have a good chance.  Her line about finding what she needed instead of what she wanted makes sense and gives me hope.  Tempered hope.

Time will tell.  I don't think even they know today.

I agree with how you worded the above.  I think that Des was looking for that "crazy infatuated heart pounding" kind of feeling, which was definitely there with Brooks.  And I am willing to bet that that is how she felt with those guys in her past who did not love her back, as much as she loved them.

With Chris, she probably never felt that crazy infatuation with him, and she kept thinking that there was something missing.  But, her relationship was Chris was easy, calm - without any of the angst that she associated with the feeling of love.   I think that the turning point for Des, after Brooks left, and she decided to carry on with Chris and Drew, was when Chris told her that what he liked about their relationship was that they never took any steps backwards, and they always picked up where they left off.  I saw an AH HA moment in Des' eyes.  I think that was the moment that Des decided that maybe she needed to let go, give Chris a chance, even if she wasn't completely at the finish line with him.

So much of what Des said that she was looking for, Chris has and was openly offering those things to her.  I think that Des knew that she loved Chris on so many levels and could picture a future with him, but in my personal opinion, she decided to take that leap of faith with him, in the hopes that her feelings for him could and would someday catch up to his.

It is really up to them now where this relationship goes.  I think that Des made a conscious decision to listen to her head, and not to rely soley on what the heart was telling her.  If they do get married and start a family, then I can see Chris being an excellent father, as well as being a wonderful husband.  In my opinion, there is nothing sexier and more adorable than a man who is a loving father.  I do think that Chris is the whole package, and I do hope that Des will give it a real chance to see if this will work for them both.  Only time will tell.

I used to live in the Edit threads and then stopped once solid spoilers started coming out.
Now I'll be back to picking thru JBFs observations again. I missed the Chris and Des' love story!!!

Chris and Des' LCD was beautiful, as was the proposal. And I loved that for the first time since Trista, the lead was so expressive with her emotions before the proposal. I thought Brooks would have an epiphany, but it ended up being Des!

Wow, I actually ended up loving the finale. Love that the spoilers were wrong. Love that I was surprised. I always liked her relationship with Chris the best but never allowed myself to really root for them because of the spoilers. But they are cute together. And Chris is exactly what she needs.

Drew's departure wasn't nearly as sad as I was expecting. Thank goodness! He handled it with so much maturity and class.

Des still acts really uncomfortable around her family. But Chris handled it really, really well. I guess we should have listened to crazy Nate when he said the spoilers were wrong. It was during the MTP date that I finally realized that Brooks would not be returning.

And I loved the proposal. Chris did a good job. And I'm glad that Des stopped him to atleast explain the Brooks thing a little bit. Even if she fell in love with him more post-show, I loved that she woke up and realized what she had in Chris and accepted his proposal. He obviously knows everything that went down with Brooks now and seemed to have no issue with it. So good for them. I think it's great that she's moving to Seattle, and they're establishing a new life together.

As for the ATFR, that reunion with Brooks was SO AWKWARD! Clearly, that relationship was never going to work. So good for Brooks for realizing it.

Drew was SO DAMN HOT! Again, he handled himself really well. He's definitely going to be fighting off the ladies.

And JUAN PABLO! YAY!!!!!!!!!!! I never get as invested in the Bachelor, but I'm really excited for this season. Love him!

Is it possible that every source is being intentionally misled by Fleiss? Of course.

But he hasn't succeeded with that in recent years, and has never seemed too concerned about forums like this one calling it; he just doesn't like the "public" spoilers; so I don't think he'd try to mislead the special inside sources belonging to select members HERE.

Too many reliable sources all saying the same thing. I don't think Fleiss could effectively control THAT many people.

It really is "WOW" that he pulled this off.  He must have invested an incredible amount of energy into it.  I'm surprised.  I really didn't think he cared that much.

I absolutely LOVE that Fleiss pulled it off!! As someone who was ambivilent to the Brooks adoration -- never saw it, felt even more "meh" of it last night -- I was thrilled that the spoilers were wrong, just for the sake of them being wrong. I truly believe that many, many, many of the Brooks fans were as such simply because of the spoilers...and I feel sorry that they missed the fun in seeing the real storyline. It was there for all to see -- probably even more of it on the cutting room floor.

As I watched in the final half hour, I couldn't help but smile for the ladies in Chrisville and feel sad that I never went inot the Chris thread! I also kept shaking my head and nodding (yes, both!) at how silly I got to thinking atem's questioning antics were all along -- she was relentless -- and she ended being the most influential of the sleuthers!! Great tenacity, atem!!

I anticipated hating the finale, especially if we were expected to believe Brooks' return -- but I was delighted that he didn't, and even more delighted that I could stomach the ending.

I never want to be spoiled again. I will happily watch each episode next season without any media or forum reading. I finally did that last season with Survivor and, for the first time, I was entranced in each episode.

The only thing I would love to know now, and then I'll stop, is HOW Fleiss created a bogus storyline and kept his real secret so well, while showing the actual story so clearly on the screen. Funny how he made such a difference and fooled not only RS, but everyone's "trusted sources" as well.

Does anyone know the quote that Chris put in the journal he gave Des? The one at the beginning of the book. TIA

We certainly were Fleissed and it sure put a damper on good feelings about the season for myself anyway, if I may state the obvious.   I was content to go along with the spoiler because I saw the connection with Des and Brooks from their first date. No need to rehash the rest of the season and reasons. The one thing that did give me pause inwardly was when different sources confirmed the exact language about the couple being "still together and happy." But quickly I brushed that aside. Lack of SCs? No problem, part of keeping the suspense, right? Wrong. There were none! With the exception of the BSG, which was seen, and the lettuce SC which was never seen that we can discern.

Anyway, kudos to those who always maintain a health amount of skepticism! I am going to try as hard as I can in the future not to be spoiled, and if spoiled, try to keep a healthy amount of skepticism myself.

I am happy for Des and Chris and hope they work out and have a forever relationship and evergrowing love for each other. I still can't believe that she was over Brooks in a matter of 3-5 days, however, and will always wonder if she did in fact settle a bit in spite of what she said. If you're going to settle, Chris seems like the best possible right kind of guy to settle for.
