In fairness, nearly 8MM people were just a few hours away from watching him dump Des on national TV. I wouldn't be smiling either.

 Right, it has to have been a hellish few days for him since then. And I bet Des isn't letting him off lightly either, in good fun.

Long post.  I just re-watched.

We have all discussed the twist of head and look of shock? surprise? bury his head in his hands after she says she loves him.  But she says it again on the pier and he just says I'm sorry but then he does say, I wonder if we had done things differently - but he thinks no, it wouldn't change his feelings and she just tells him to stop because it is hurting her more.

Now - my word for word.  Nothing is voice over.  It's either we see him say it or it is ITM.  If I quote a voiceover I will say it.

ITM Brooks "I'm surprised at the love that she has for me.  I'm surprised. The thing is I didn't want to leave her.  I wasn't expecting that. You know?  I didn't know what else to say though. I just wanted to sit there.  I didn't want to see her cry. There's so many things about Des that I love (inaudible). I want to say I love Des. You know?"  (crying)

Commercial.

They walk off pier together.
Des: "I wanted you to meet my parents."
Brooks: "So now what are you going to do?"
Des: "What?  What am I going to do?"

Then the whole exchange we discussed already - conflicted, want to give my heart to you.  I will shut up etc.

Walk more.

Brooks: "Should I go?"
Des: "What else are you going to do?
Brooks: " I don't know what to do.  I don't know what to say.  I don't know what to do."  all the while LOOKING AT HER. Cecilia's opinion: It's almost like he wants her to beg him even more to stay here or something.  Or give him an OUT from the HOLE he has now dug himself into.
Des: "You've said everything you could."
Brooks: "Then what do you...."
Des "...you needed."
Brooks: "I just don't want to leave you."
Des: "I've done everything myself and that's why I was hoping I could meet someone to share my life with."
Des then looks at him and she looks STUNNING.
Brooks: "I'm sorry." Hugs her.
Heartbeats.
He leans in closer "Bye? I'm sorry."
Des: "God. INAUDIBLE. Just stop saying it."
Brooks: "Hmmm" looks at her.
Des: "Just stop saying it."
Brooks "I'm sorry" (I mean he f**king says it again!) kisses her on the forehead.
THEN WALKS MORE WITH HER!
Des: "I don't know. You can go." NOT looking at him. "I'll go sit by myself."
Brooks: sighs.  "Bye" ANOTHER hug.  She won't touch him at first.  Then she hugs him.
"ok" "ok"

she walks to pier and cries.

Brooks SOBS. "F**king wors day of my life."  "Theres nothing I can say to make it better." More sobbing, kneeling. "Way worse than I thought it was going to be." sobbing.  "I don't want to say goodbye." More bleeps.

Brooks walks to car (i presume).  But stops and looks back at Des.  Crying.  Sobs to car.

ITM for Brooks: "I've never had a relationship when saying goodbye has been that difficult.  All those moments we had together I miss them already. I miss them a lot."

Not that it really matters much but the line I put in bold was a spliced/diced sentence. I posted it yesterday that you can totally tell they took two different parts of sentences to make this one "I don't know if I've ever had a relationship where it's (weird noise) said goodbye has been this difficult"! It just makes me wonder what they were trying to hide or trying to make us think!!

okay, i'm trying to be objective here and am going to write out evidence for both brooks & chris for F1 to see which looks stronger. i don't think drew has  a chance.

brooks:

-he's the one she really is in love with and has made that abundantly clear
-the comment of his brother about what would you do if she was completely out of your life-makes it sound like he will come back
-i think he now realizes after the blow up on monday that he does in fact love her even if it is "bachelor love"
-that line atem read in a tabloid from a producer saying "guys leave and come back" this season
-quotes he says we haven't heard yet: "i'm in love with des" and/or "i'm as in love as i've ever been" (these are both contested as to whether or not they are brooks speaking)
-RS, love me, san, sophie & latergator all have spoiled brooks as F1
-if brooks comes back it is really hard to imagine des would reject him as she is a softie at heart. that would definitely be weird, out of left field and the guys (chris & drew) would not be happy. des of course was not happy he broke her heart in the first place.
-what des said she is looking for post-show: spontaneous, adventurous, witty, sense of humor over looks, sarcastic. this all describes brooks to a t and really not chris much at all.
-des says she didn't settle (can someone provide that quote as i never read it myself)

signs it isn't brooks:

-no safehouse pics
-no airport sightings
-people on social media saying he has said he isn't F1: the lady in FL #heloses, did the niece say whether or not her aunt, a friend of brooks, said he was F1?
-des favoriting a post about being glad it wasn't brooks, then post got deleted but not her favorite
-nate saying publicly that the spoiler is wrong
-nate saying in a DM on twitter that it isn't brooks
-brooks' family members favoriting tweets that indicate it isn't brooks
-no screencaps of brooks for FRC, part deux unless the crying in his hand (aka the lettuce pic) is from FRC part 2

chris:

-brooks is currently out of the pic with no definitive proof he returns
-we know he goes to the FRC because of the suit & limo shot (it could be either going to the FRC or leaving. i think it is going even if brooks is F1)
-she does love him and they have a good connection even if she isn't currently in love with him
-the possible safehouse pic
-he's been really quiet since the show only lately more active on social media
-the red dress screencap which looks to be after his evening portion of the LCD at the hotel where he is staying (galley bay). des says she has never felt so loved. question: is this when she says i want to see him down on one knee?
-des' learning curve on the show was about learning what she needed over what she wanted (possibly chris vs brooks)
-lots of people on social media saying it isn't brooks

signs it isn't chris:

-the edit is all about des and brooks and their love story. chris comes off looking good and perfect on paper but not des' first choice. if he's F1 he is a default choice. nothing shocking or out of left field or weird about that.
-the nasal adjustment thing--they don't usually embarrass the F1 & his family unless they really don't like the contestant and chris is very nice so that wouldn't make sense
-the spoilers
-no airport sightings
-he doesn't fit the description des gave of her F1 post-show. he's funny but not spontaneous or adventurous that we've seen.

right now it seems to be spoilers and love story (brooks) vs. social media and screencaps (chris). social media is really messing with our heads! the worst case scenario, which would be a huge dumpster fire and very much out of left field, would be if brooks came back and des rejected him for chris. please no!

as for MF's statement "i don't know if des or the guys are happy":

1. des wouldn't be happy brooks broke her heart even if it's him in the end (points to brooks F1)
2. des wouldn't be happy she didn't get her first choice guy (if she ends up with chris as default) and that she got her heart broken by brooks (points to chris F1)
1. the guys (chris & drew) wouldn't be happy if brooks came back and des picks him over them (points to brooks F1)
2. the guys (brooks & drew) wouldn't be happy if brooks came back (drew because he is now out) and if brooks got rejected by des (brooks) (points to chris F1)

the first of both sets of these statements make more sense to me which do point to brooks.

possibilities for "weird and out of left field":

-brooks leaves and comes back and gets the girl
-chris as default isn't really weird or out of left field more just a default and kind of disappointing
-brooks comes back and des rejects him and picks chris

feel free to add onto what i've said in either case!

You are forgetting that Chris S has like 23 kisses on the leaderboard. Has a section asking you to find out about him and they have a love song theme every 1 on 1 date they have.

I'm not going to worry about it anymore; not that we should sit here and worry. I'm just going to go with it. I think Brooks and Des are together, and if they're not then Brooks will find someone. But I'm not saying I'm doubting, because I'm not. I'm just saying there's always a silver lining.

I believe they are together and I'm not going to question anymore. Just tick off the days when I can see Bres again.

I just had one thought before I go off to bed. Brooks' heart was just waiting for Desiree to tell him that she loved him. He didn't know it, but it was just waiting to hear that from her. And then it could start tearing down those walls.

Really behind but wanted to give you huge props for posting this..  

I think , as many others have said, Brooks did fall for Des just not in a completely head over heels way. The way we have come to expect from this show. He's used to the cant eat cant sleep kind of love that can rip your heart out when it's gone.  

I thought of a quote about Brooks and what might have caused his epiphany, if he did have one.  You know, sometimes love isn't fireworks. Sometimes, love just comes softly..

If this is what happened then fantastic.. On the other hand if we find out tptb flew in Brads shrink for an emergency consult and Brooks was suddenly "cured" of his cold feet, I'll be very put out..
