Just because Brooks comes back doesn't mean she takes him back. You know this show is all about the lead saving face.

It tells me it's Chris, because he's ready for a releationship, etc.

I think so too, it's clear that it's about Brooks and i hope all is well and they're happy now, i want Des to be happy

Yes, that photo was taken in Madeira. Some of the new preview screencaps were also back in Madeira.

I want him to come back but I would agree...

I also think ATFR becomes infinitely more entertaining and awkward (which means ratings!) if Brooks is there with Des and her F1 vs. MTA.  You want Brooks and Des seating intimately on a couch next to each other with the audience glued as Chris asks his painfully obvious questions  like "is it hard to be here right now? " "if you had to do it again, would you?"

Why would we wonder if he doesn't or not, if he just leaves?

Why all the angst with Drew, but not Chris? Seems to spill into the next episode to me.

There is no telling what TPTB said to Brooks. They probably fed into his insecurities and may have even encouraged him to bail. Knowing full well that it would create more drama in a mostly boring obvious season.
