Re: Episode 10 (Finale Part 1) - 7/29 - Bachelorette 9 - Thread #1
Just a couple of thoughts while watching last night. Wow, this really was the most dramatic episode. I felt bad for all involved. Chris and Drew are really good guys, just not the guys Des wants. Brooks is a good guy too and seemed genuinely surprised when Des told him she loved him. I just always believed that the lead gave their F1 some sort of clue by either F4 or F3 RC that they were "the one", and told them I have to finish the process, but it's you and me in the end. I thinks everything Brooks said was the most honest of feelings we've heard, even if it wasn't positive. I really don't believe that he was letting her go just because he is some unfeeling playboy and wanted out. He cares deeply for her, just can't figure out what exactly those feelings are. He had long pauses when CH was asking "so you don't love this woman". He didn't quickly confirm it, he paused a long time as though thinking in his head - do I or don't I? If she choses Brooks in the end, then good for her. She stuck around and worked it out with him. You love who you love and feelings don't just end. I don't get all the "kick him to the curb" comments, he was honest with her and they deserve the chance to talk it out and see if it will work - if that's what she wants.

I think they played major mind games with him. I pray if he returns and did end up with Des, he explained all that to them.
Over and over again, season after season we are told by past cast and crew who are no longer with the show that this goes on. As cold and simple as the Stockholm syndrome sounds in comparison, this is what goes on perhaps in a more subtle, simpler form. People revert to their former happy selves soon after being out of the bubble and usually better from it. Learning curve.
I really should proofread my posts. I meant to say "explained to HER".
And yes, I agree. Once they get out of the bubble. Maybe that's why former contestants from all seasons feel a bond….they were all trapped in that bubble for a while.
Absolutely!! It's their own form of support group/group therapy. And look how fast many of them move on to find their true love.
Like real everyday life huh. Some use the bubble as an excuse instead of being honest and they tried it and it just didn't work out like it didn't before they came on the show

Was Molly foolish and pathetic for giving Jason a second chance? Of course NOT! Neither will Des be if she chooses Brooks. Real life is not always a fairy tale.

Gotta say one of the best moments in Bachelor/Bachelorette history, seemed so raw and honest. I did not expect to like Brooks at all this season, but I have been thoroughly impressed with his deep and rational thinking.
I completely agree with the above statement. I re-watched late last night and when Des says "I love you" Brooks face to me said "WTF". I honestly think TPTB manipulated the f*** out of him.

This is the producer manipulation. He seemed to not know that it was only him she really loved and wanted in the end.

Coincidence that someone posted that they noticed Brooks was listening to a song called "Second Chance" yesterday on Spotify?Pattycake92 wrote:Was Molly foolish and pathetic for giving Jason a second chance? I actually felt for Brooks during his conversation with Chris Harrison. It was real, and it made sense. I have no problem with what he was saying or how he was feeling. But he sucks at break-ups. Dude, just spit it out and tell her the truth. And then acting like Des should have said ILY sooner and that it would have made a difference? Lame. She will beat herself up over that. And then it just dragged and dragged to the point that I was like ... just leave already. I know Des was shocked and just absolutely crushed, but there are so many things I wish she would have said to him. I wish she would have stood up for herself more.
As for next week, I have NO idea how she can go from that to accepting a proposal from Brooks. Just no. I can't imagine a scenario that she won't look foolish. And she needs to just end things with Chris and Drew. She said it's over. And it is. No point in carrying on with this farce. It is too bad that she just got so blinded by Brooks on that first date that the other guys never stood a chance. Personally, I love Drew. But I like Chris for Des. They are cute, and he would be good for her.
Do we believe for a second that they didn't tell him that Des likely was in love with no one or someone else and his chances weren't that great anyway? He had a lightbulb 'wtf' moment.
This is the producer manipulation. He seemed to not know that it was only him she really loved and wanted in the end.
Of course, he was manipulated by the producers. I have no doubt they fed into his insecurities, told him she was falling in love with other guys, etc.
So what? Know yourself. Know your feelings. He's either in love with her or he's not. Brooks is not. Good for him for acknowledging it. I just wish he could have articulated himself better to Des. But we know that's not his strong suit.

I agree with the bolded. Which is why he was so disappointing last night. But none of us know what it is like to be in that "bubble" and to me, it doesn't rule out him returning and maybe saying let's date. A proposal seems outlandish at this point though.

Brooks looked like a man feed a little bogus info about Des and was genuinely surprised at her feelings.
The back and forth with Chris H was interesting, most of Chris's "tough" questions were 1 shots and could have been filmed later.
Do I think he comes back and actually gets down on one knee and pops the question, Have no clue. Do I think he does love her? Yes.
I think TPTB worked overtime to make him doubt that Des was falling for him. He mentioned a few weeks back that he was falling and it bothered him seeing her with some of the other guys.
That's where I'm at too. Brooks had insecurities and tptb fed them, played it up to get their drama. I think it's going to come back to what Brooks brother said to him on HTD's about if he could live without her or something to that effect. Now that he knows how she feels, which was the unknown that fed his insecurities in the first place, coupled with what he said about how he felt when he was with her, the feelings could have come back... especially if tptb were now feeding him stuff about how much she loves him and how happy they could be together blah blah blah.... I can totally see him coming back after a few days and saying he's ready to commit to working on a relationship with her.
I think for me, maybe I would feel different if he'd have had a different reaction to her saying I love you.... his immediate reaction was one of disbelief and a why didn't you tell me that sooner. Also the last relationship that he was in, he was ready to get married, but she broke it off. In the back of his mind he could be afraid of a repeat of that so held back, afraid that history was going to repeat itself. Also his dad leaving leaves scars that effect how we feel about relationships.
I'll wait to see how this all plays out, but if Brooks came back and she takes him back, I'd wish them well and hope they can make a go of it in the real world. If not, I'd rather it end quietly and with not as much fanfare as there was last night. That was gut wrenching, felt so bad for her, and with a camera there to witness it all, that had to sting. I can respect that he told her how he felt and didn't play the game, even though without him realizing, he was more than likely just a pawn for tptb and an unwitting player in somebody else's game.
I feel bad for Chris and Drew for having to have to watch that last night. Mostly for Chris though as I think he really had deep feelings for her. Drew I think was more about winning the girl, so I think he bounced back much quicker than Chris. Chris is more like Arie I think, in that he may have still had hope after he left, and Drew is like Sean and over it about a day or two after he was home.
wow.. I didn't know about that.. that would explain a lot. Thank you.
I really want to corner one of the producers and ask them why the pull some of the crap they do. I think the show would have a better track record if they stopped with the manipulations..

I will be f-en livid because he should have just stayed away. Because why let Chris pick out a ring and show up to FRC if Brooks is back and thats who she wants?
All the sympathy she has garnered all night will go completely out the window and she will be ripped apart for picking Brooks at the end. She will look weak and pushover. And kinda stupid, especially after Brooks says he doesn't love her and doesn't think he ever will. It doesn't make sense.
I've missed you this season Alanna. Also ITA.

Some of it for JP was winning, why he stayed. For Brooks it's not just about winning.
