How many people think that we were shown everything that Brooks said to his family, CH in PI's and to Des? I certainly don't. I think it was edited to make it seem like he felt no love for her, but he probably said some really positive stuff, but the edit this week was to make us think he was checked out, so to speak, but if he indeed does come back, we'll get to hear more of what his thoughts really were.
Can't wait til next week to see how this all plays out!!

Yes, ma'am because he's truly in love. And Des will believe it because in her PI from their first date, "When Brooks falls in love, he really falls in love."BachfanNY wrote:Wow. Still processing this episode.
Just a thought Des's reaction: When you're really in love, your pride goes out the window. Sometimes you're willing to do things you never thought you were capable of. I guess only those of us who have been thru a similar situation can relate.
But here's the thing with Brooks, why come back if the hardest part, "the break-up" is already over? Makes no sense. And apparently the only one making sense around here has been Brooks with him questioning if all this is "real". So why come back? Why put himself thru all that all over again if he doesn't want Des?
Overall, this was a nice reality check for both. And if Brooks comes back, he's coming back for his girl!

I think they played major mind games with him. I pray if he returns and did end up with Des, he explained all that to them.
Over and over again, season after season we are told by past cast and crew who are no longer with the show that this goes on. As cold and simple as the Stockholm syndrome sounds in comparison, this is what goes on perhaps in a more subtle, simpler form. People revert to their former happy selves soon after being out of the bubble and usually better from it. Learning curve.

I really should proofread my posts. I meant to say "explained to HER".
And yes, I agree. Once they get out of the bubble. Maybe that's why former contestants from all seasons feel a bond….they were all trapped in that bubble for a while.

Absolutely!! It's their own form of support group/group therapy. And look how fast many of them move on to find their true love.

Agree with this post. I thought Des handled herself so well. She went through every emotion. It was raw and real. She put it all out there because this was her only chance to do it.
Brooks explanation has to be that the whole process got to him. Unfortunately, that was not really discussed in their conversation. Why? When she said, I love you and he wanted to know why he she didn't tell him that earlier, she said "I couldn't" and he said, "You can say whatever you want." So if the "process" meaning the dating game/reality show is the problem, why wasn't that more discussed? He alluded to it when discussing when they were apart, needing more time, what's "real."

Brooks is right about that. She could've whispered it to him at some point when they were hugging, if nothing else, and told him to keep it a secret. They didn't have to know she told him. He was right. She kept him in the dark.

Amen! I can relate. I said this same thing last night, the fact that he's coming back shows he loves her. Guys say things sometimes because it sounds like the right thing but thats not what they are feeling. Des got her man so she shouldn't give a rat's tail about what people think or say.

Wow, dumpster fire was an apt description for this situation.
I actually felt for Brooks during his conversation with Chris Harrison. It was real, and it made sense. I have no problem with what he was saying or how he was feeling. But he sucks at break-ups. Dude, just spit it out and tell her the truth. And then acting like Des should have said ILY sooner and that it would have made a difference? Lame. She will beat herself up over that. And then it just dragged and dragged to the point that I was like ... just leave already. I know Des was shocked and just absolutely crushed, but there are so many things I wish she would have said to him. I wish she would have stood up for herself more.
As for next week, I have NO idea how she can go from that to accepting a proposal from Brooks. Just no. I can't imagine a scenario that she won't look foolish. And she needs to just end things with Chris and Drew. She said it's over. And it is. No point in carrying on with this farce. It is too bad that she just got so blinded by Brooks on that first date that the other guys never stood a chance. Personally, I love Drew. But I like Chris for Des. They are cute, and he would be good for her.

Do we believe for a second that they didn't tell him that Des likely was in love with no one or someone else and his chances weren't that great anyway? He had a lightbulb 'wtf' moment.

This is the producer manipulation. He seemed to not know that it was only him she really loved and wanted in the end.
